Broke my door and was threatened by owner.. bare with me it's a long one. Just want everyone to be aware if you are looking for cleaning services from this company. My boyfriend and I are new to Huntington Station. We needed a move-in clean and after several calls decided to go with Universal Maids. The prices were fair, reviews were good and Reina (I believe she is one of the owners) sounded so personable and sweet on the phone. I never write bad reviews even when businesses deserve it which is why writing this is hard. First off, the original date was for tom, Sept. 2nd. She called and said if they could come today between 12-1 I said okay. Mind you, we haven't moved in yet so we had to drive all the way from Brooklyn to accommodate. She calls me at 1pm saying they will be there in 20mins. Got there at 1:29, didn't say anything about that. I show her the house, let her know everything that I specifically want cleaned and tell them at the very least, please try to minimize the dust as I am allergic (I have asthma, dust is one of the triggers). My philosophy is that no one will ever do a perfect cleaning in my eyes simply because they're not me. I know in my mind how I want things specifically cleaned and u know it will never happen in someone else's hands so I wasn't too fussy about the window in the master bath not being wiped down, the light fixtures still had dust and cobwebs. I let those things go. I did however do a quick sweep and saw that the door of the oven and the water dispenser of the fridge wasn't cleaned so I had 2 of the girls come back and clean it. One of them grabbed paper towel wet it with water and started wiping the hardened grease on the oven door (??? LOL?). My mistake was that I didn't fully check the house before they left. After they leave, I make my way downstairs in the basement and notice that one of the doors is leaning against the wall. I realized it's broken off the hinge. I text her that they broke one of the doors. She calls me back to say it wasn't her workers. Well, duh! They weren't about to admit that so they can lose they're job. I reminded her that we did a walk-thru beforehand so she can give me an accurate price and the door wasn't like that. My boyfriend and I stepped up to run errands and came back to that. Well, who else would've broken the door? She told me she'd come take a look at it. When she arrives, she stands her ground saying they couldn't have done that. I tried explaining that the way the door broke seems like they pulled it too hard. I wasn't disrespectful or angry, even though I had ever right to be. I calmly said I'm not trying to get anything for free as I am planning to hire a cleaning service for a bi-weekly or once a month service AND I will need another deep clean once kitchen and bathroom renovations are done. I just want her to know what's right is right and what's wrong is wrong. If it happened, that's fine just be straight up with me. Instead she tells me verbatim, "use your head" (I kid you not, I was told to respect my elders so I was trying really hard to no escalate this EVEN THOUGH I HAD EVERY RIGHT TO.), it's an old door and maybe the sellers just tried to do a quick fix to sell the house. That may be so, but the fact still remains that before I left the house I had a perfectly fine door and got back to a broken, useless door. The door literally has a crack and a piece of it even fell onto my head as she moved the door. She finally tells me that when I get it repaired I can send her the invoice and she'll pay me back. And that I'm supposed to just trust her word on that. I let it go (I have way too much going on rn than to argue with this lady.) and just agreed. Don't hire this company! They quoted me $198 for a regular weekly cleaning, I had to book 2 weeks out and the night before (tonight) Rina, the owner called to confirm and suddenly the price went up to $345!! I reminded her of what she quoted me and what was agreed upon to which she said she was thinking of the wrong house when she quoted me. Other companies quoted much less ($180-$250) even for deep cleaning services including Molly Maids, Merry Maids, His and Hers Cleaning, Dust Bunnies, Maid Brigade, and others. This felt like a shake down especially because it's right before thanksgiving. I cancelled the clean and found another company to do it. read more

This company is great!! They work with you based on your schedule and easily can reschedule if needed. The cleaners are very polite and respectful of your home. They do a great job cleaning every room and areas you ask them to and more. They place hints back in their original places after cleaning and leave things even more organized than they were to begin with. I've used them a number of times and referred them to family and friends. I will continue to use their services whenever I need a good house cleaning. read more
