This might not be in the best area, but it's definitely one of the best Coney Island I've been to, especially for Coney dogs, wing dings, fries, and their amazing grilled chicken pita. 1 star I normally don't leave reviews, but this experience needs to be addressed. My order was made incorrectly, and when I tried to get it fixed, the manager was extremely rude and provided horrible customer service. Instead of helping resolve the issue, she refused to remake the food or offer a refund, even though the mistake was on their end. I paid for a meal I couldn't eat, and the situation could have been easily resolved with basic courtesy and professionalism. I hope ownership takes this seriously, because no customer should be treated this way. read more

Coney Island. There are many Coney islands in Michigan. Just driving around you will see 1-3 around you. The best? I cannot even recommend or tell you. I've never had an exceptional experience. Everyone is just average. If everyone makes the same food, how does one pick a favorite? I guess it would depend on service. Fast service? Alway filling your order correctly? Is the inside a dump? Not to be confused with the Underwearreversal Coney Island, which is where everyone shows up in panties, and wears them backwards. Fun times. Coneys are not my favourite type of food and in fact it's named after a part of New York that doesn't even have Coneys per say - just one famous old overrated hot dog place called Nathan's. But here in Detroit Coney is the way of life and it is part of the culture and it's stitched into the fabric of Eastern Michigan. And some of these places are really bad and will make you run to the bathroom, whereas some of them are actually good and will make you run to the bathroom. Notice the common thread. Porcelain altar. I highly recommend you give a few of them a try when you're in town especially the late night ones near downtown. This one on the other hand is out in the suburbs and also is a late-night destination and I think it's pretty good. Service was nice and the products were tasty and even though it's probably more of a three or four star place the fact that it's open 24 hours, and the fact that it's a local tradition and these places must be supported and must stay in business to keep the character of Detroit in Detroit.... then I have to give it Cinco. I came here to order a simple bacon egg lettuce and tomato... they couldn't even get that correct I asked for a refund they said they don't offer refunds, however they do not have signs posted anywhere on the business regarding a return or order policy. Disgusting customer service from the cook! First let me say I'm from out of town (Decatur, GA) and stopped by Universal Coney Island on my lunch break Thursday, August 27, 2020 and ordered a turkey omelet with peppers, onions and NO CHEESE! I Called back after I picked up my food and spoke to Dasia to let her know it was cheese in my omelet, and she asked me to come back but I couldn't b/c I was just on a lunch break from working. So, she tells me to come the next day, and they will correct my order. Today, Sat, Aug 29th, I called to re-order and they're refusing to re-make my order and tell me I should have froze the food and brought it back and Dasia should have told me that. I asked the cook, to speak to the manager, but he refused to give me the managers name, and hangs up the phone. Called back again and another associate answers the phone, but she tells me, the manager comes in once or twice a month. Long story short they never re made my order and I doubt the manager ever calls me back. So make sure your food is right before you leave, and just FYI there are two another Coney islands within a mile of this place! read more

FIREEEEE from Florida and came up here for a school trip and this was the only place open so glad I came 10/10.

Service was polite and prompt. Typical coney island food. The fries were a little skimpy in quantity. The chili and cheese were a little overwhelming in ratio to the amount of fries served. A friend and I were looking for a late night coney. After many attempts driving and searching we fell upon this diamond in the rough neighborhood of Pontiac Food: The food was great. I had the ranch chicken wrap with chili fries. My husband turned me on to universal because I was being bird fed at altadonas and after one meal from here I've never went back.
