I love this place! Faster food counter option with bright sunny seating. Communal larger size tables and window bar seating. Awesome food. I am never disappointed. The bulgogi and spicy pork tacos are my fave. The sassy ot kimchi fries are always delicious.

Wanted to try this place for some time. Hit it up on the way home after a long day. Cashier and delivery of my Bulgogi in a box was quick and personable. No issues there. But most of the food was dull and lacking in flavor. Salad was ok, noodles we're likely the best part. Rice was, well it's rice, but I added a good bit of salt. The star of the show was supposed to be the meat but it lacked the tangy marinaded flavor one expects from bulgogi. It was stringy with fat/gristle and watery in the metal box. I scarfed it down, but it could have been better. I kept thinking frozen Trader Joe's IS BETTER. I'll try it again because I think they have Korean wings at a better price point than some other local places, but the bulgogi was a miss.

I got the spicy pork kimchi box and it was amazing. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes and it was ready when I got there at 13 minutes. The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly.

Tried the bulgogi box ($15) for takeout. Pros: -Good Portions Cons: -Maybe it was a bad night but everything just seemed sort of stale. The rice was hard on the outside and mushy on the inside. The jap chae had a funny rancid taste. The bulgogi I think was precooked and reheated on the pan. -The entire staff was on their phones when I ordered and prepared my food which was off putting.

This was a good place to eat. They give you a a lot of food. My favorite on this dish was the noodles and of chicken. The chicken was lightly fried and had good good flavor. However, the chicken could've used more sauce but it was extra money to do that. They also always give you a surprise side dish. Mine was oranges. The rice was ok and the salad was ok nothing to brag about. The service was good . No wait time.

My husband had the Bimibop which was a very large portion and full of ingredients- not in a stone bowl but still yummy. The standout was my son's chicken sandwich. Delicious!!! Well worth a stop if you want a healthier and tastier alternative to fast food.

Was super excited to try this place out but it unfortunately did not live up to its hype. The kimchi fries were basically just plain fries drenched in sauce with the tiniest bit of kimchi that wasn't even flavorful. Chicken was good but not the kind of good that I'd want to willingly order again. I'd rather stick to the classic Korean fried chicken chains.

If you're thinking about stopping...do it! The food was amazing and their prices are reasonable. Customer service was good, they didn't mince me asking what every dish I saw was The corn dogs are amazing! We got the crispy potato one and it was so crispy. The addition on sugar was a pleasant surprise, salty sweet The fried dumplings are great, so crisp but juicy on the inside. The Bulgogi was great and I can't wait to go back.

This visit was just as good as the last one. The shop was only slightly busy but there was plenty of seating and it was clean. I was welcomed by a nice lady at the register who took my order. She helped me with a couple of questions I had because I wanted to try something new but also wanted to get one of the Mozzarella Corn Dogs. I ordered a couple of tacos this time. Both were on the spicy side but not a lingering, hot spicy...just a quick "bite back" spicy, if you know what I mean. One was a Spicy Pork and the other was Chicken Teriyaki but both had a similar amount of spice. Might have been the sauce used. Hubby ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box. It was really good as well. I like this location as it's closer to me than Troy but both have great service and food. read more

Was looking for some new food to try in the area and stumbled upon Kimchi Box! Upon entering you are met with a modern Korean-style ambience with a comfortable interior. I grabbed a menu and began my search for my fated dish. Having always been a fan of teriyaki chicken, that's what I went ahead and ordered. The staff, in the little interaction I had was friendly and the food came out promptly. Unlike some teriyaki chicken, this was thankfully not fatty and made for a pleasant dining experience. The avocado was fresh, and the bottled sauces that were included offered incredible flavor! I would say, from the meal, my favorite dishes were the chicken itself the kimchi (which was extra) and the noodles pictured in the bottom right (which I do not know their name). They were cold, which I believe is how they are served but they were really good and meaty! The kimchi was delicious and paired SO well with the dish! My only complaints were with the rice and the drinks. I was not really a fan of the texture of the rice and the soda was a bit flat. Overall I would rate Kimchi box a 4/5. A charming and clean establishment in its own right and I would gladly go back, especially to have some revitalizing food on a cool rainy day! read more

Stopped by the Auburn Hills location and was a little bummed they didn't have soup, but still left super satisfied. I got the Korean popcorn chicken with soy glaze and japchae. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the japchae had a great texture and taste. Portions were generous and definitely worth the price. It's a casual, clean spot for a quick Korean bite. This place has a good location down the street from Oakland University. The menu has a variety of offering, including tteokbokki (or 'dukbokki'), including the rosè variety which I surprisingly don't see often at Korean restaurants or Korean fusion places! Thus, as a rosè tteokbokki fanatic who has made it at home numerous times, I took a gander at it here for $11. While the price seems a bit high for a fast food-esque looking spot, it was actually quite delicious and flavorful, though I did wish there were more tteoks (rice cakes) in my plate. I also ordered the beef bulgogi taco and the Seoul Crispy Chicken Sandwich. $7.50 is a steal for the generous portion and flavor that the Seoul Crispy Chicken Sandwich gave me. I loved how it had a moderate amount of sauce that allowed it to maintain maximum crispness, as well as the addition of the pickled onions and the lettuce. The beef bulgogi taco ingredients were alright, however it felt both full and plain at the same time. I ordered it with the standard corn tortilla, and perhaps next time I will sample it with my usual flour tortillas I get with everything else. Finally, my friend and I shared the Kimchi fries, which were delicious, crispy, and in a generous portion. I will always appreciate generous portions from a restaurant and never forget my kudos. You get some serious bang for your buck here at Kimchi Box. The only thing I felt was off that the kimchi itself on the fries was a bit tangy, which is not necessarily my favorite. I also wish the kimchi were mixed in better rather than being placed exclusively at the top as it was hard to incorporate it into my bite. Though this may be a method to maintain the fries' crispness which I can commend. Overall, I would love love love to come back to Kimchi Box! I tried mixing my rosè tteokbokki into an extra tortilla I was given and found that that flavor combo was scrumptious. I'll be recreating it again, as well as trying new things, on another trip. read more

I went to this location tonight to grab carryout for my wife and I. She got her food and liked it. I wasn't able to order because the entire staff there didn't speak or understand clear English. I have severe shellfish and mushroom allergies. They could not tell me what ingredients were in their veggie dishes. 2 people said no mushrooms and two of them said yes mushrooms. Do better or at least have a complete list of ingredients. read more

A few years ago, I went to this Kimchi box and was disappointed by the quality of food and service compared to the other local locations. Starting this year, they have more than stepped up their game. The dining area is always clean, the workers are friendly and accommodating, the food comes out fast and now is leagues BETTER than the other metro Detroit locations by FAR. I adore this location and highly recommend it! read more

I will never buy anything from this place again. All I asked for was if they could put the salad in the spicy pork box in a styrofoam bowl that they used for rice. It's nice that they'd rather give me a hard time over this than keep a customer. I will never go back to this place again or recommend it to anyone. By the way, I'm Korean too.So I have other options , and your food's not even that good either. read more

Fantastic. I went to visit a friend in Michigan and was looking for something fresh and delicious and came across Kimchi Box. I ordered a bimbimbap with bulgogi. It's not traditional in the sense that instead of spinach they have kale, but it's a refreshing change. It also comes with japchae and rice in the bowl vs. just rice which I'm used to. I also for the fried chicken which was crispy and fresh. I loved this place so much I went twice in 4 days! Parking is easy, restaurant and bathroom are clean, and the service was nice. I'm sure I'll make this my go to every time I'm visiting my friend. read more

There is a decent amount of seating indoors with the casual lunch/dinner ambiance inside. I stopped by here for a quick bite and only ordered the Seoul Chicken Sandwich. It was actually pretty dang good! Crispy coating for the chicken that isn't too bready or thick, sauce gave the sandwich a nice sweet tang, and the veggies were very fresh and complementary. There were some pickled veggies inside too which I thought went well with the chicken glaze to create that sweet-sour contrast. I have SO much love for Kimchi Box! The staff is friendly, the food is freshly prepared, the restaurant is clean, etc. The menu is original and works for the whole family. I tried the BBQ Chicken box and loved it! The BBQ chicken was tender and very flavorful, the purple rice was nice and sticky, and the ginger dressed salad was very fresh. There was also a side of fried dumplings that were tasty. My son ordered the popcorn chicken, which was very crispy. It comes with sauce on or on the side, which is a great option. You have the choice of Garlic-soy sauce or Korean Sassy sauce. Both were tasty. I also ordered steamed buns with red beans and they were fresh, sweet, and filling. Got the chicken sandwich. Chicken was tough, chewy, and dark grey in color. Bun was stale, and the veggies were not fresh. Surprising because the other locations are very good. I will be avoiding this location. read more

I've been to the Sterling Heights location before. Just got the hot dog there and at this location I got the potato dog. My first time ever having the potato dog from anywhere. I like it! Not too crazy about the fish cake sausage though. I originally thought it would be a hot dog. Taste is fine. The smell was fishy like dashi though. I'm not sure why they don't provide mustard. Other Korean hot dog places I've been to offered it. I like both the ketchup and mustard and the sugar personally. I need to try their other foods. Food came out quick also. read more

We had the chicken sandwich- which I found to be made really well, the only downside was the bun had a sticky layer on top which people who don't like having messy fingers will probably not enjoy. My husband had the bulgogi box and really enjoyed it. read more

I was so excited to try this place. It definitely didn't disappoint! We ordered pickup which was ready super quick. Prices were really fair given the portion size. I would say the boxes/popcorn chicken are a better deal than ordering stand-alone wings (although the wings also tasted great). The corn dogs were fun to try and I am happy to have found a place with great kimchi. There are lots of Thai options but it was nice to see a Korean/Asian fusion type place open up in the area. I think this place does bring something special to the table. I fully recommend and look forward to our next visit. read more

One of our go to places for Asian food when we lived out here! We usually got to go orders and only once had an issue out of the multiple times we ordered. That said, we were always happy with our orders and they have a decent variety of things to try! It was a place we would recommend to people who came out to visit us. Recommend the bibimbap or the chicken sandwich. Both really good imo. read more

We ordered a little bit of everything.. from the half and half Korean fried chicken to the mozzarella corn dog to the kimchi fries and to their new item - oink bap. The French fries were my favorite, hot and crispy and just the right amount of sauce and kimchi on top. The corn dogs were just ok as it had sprinkles of sugar on top.. made it more like a dessert. The Korean fried chicken also seemed to have gotten smaller in size since my last visit. The star of the meal was the bap.. purple rice on bottom, jap chae, salad, and spicy pork on top.. all for $10. Definitely a good deal and tasted good as well! The food was unbelievably good - it looked identical to their advertised photos. The facility was quiet and clean and the servers were kind and helpful. We ordered 1/2 of our wings without sauce to try the chicken alone and no fried chicken has ever beat their level of crisp. I have long been in search for the perfect fried chicken sandwich. Today I came closer than ever before. The Seoul Chicken Sandwich with soy garlic sauce had the perfect fried crunchy texture and the flavor of the breaded chicken, the sauce, the pickled red onion, and the other vegetables blended for a delightfully complex experience. The only note I'd give is on one of the title features of the restaurant. Not the kimchi - the box my meal was served in trapped the moisture so the bun was slightly soggier than I might have dreamed. Seriously the best Korean fried chicken and bibimbap I've ever had!!! The KFC here is mind blowingly delicious and addictive. A couple of friends took me here just recently for dinner where we split an order of the chicken and each got a bibimbap. I love that they let you customize the base of your bibimbap with choices of salad, japche noodles, and rice as well as different protein options. I got the bulgogi and added the sauces they provided for our dish into my bowl to mix in. The veggies were crisp and made my bibimbap very refreshing and enjoyable to eat. We got both the sassy and honey powder sauces on our chicken (half and half). The sassy sauce had mild spice and had a flavorful, tangy flavor. The honey powder was sweet and salty and so addictive!! It was very hard to stop eating this. Service was friendly and quick. The interior is clean and spacious for customers who want to dine in, or you can also get your food to go. So good. Love kimchi box. I have been frequenting the original in Sterling Heights becauSe it's closer to my work. Now happy to have a location close to home as well! Same great quality and consistency! Ordered my usual of kimchi fries and the bulgogi tacos and a bibimbop not pictured. Everything was delicious!! I've tried everything at this point and you can't go wrong. I was hesitant to try this place because I'm originally from California and I've had my share of Korean food. This place, while not the most authentic, was delicious!! We got the bibimbap with bulgogi, bulgogi tacos, soy garlic chicken wings, and their steamed mandu. Bibimbap: 5/5 wow was this good! The veggies were fresh and crunchy and the bulgogi was perfectly seasoned! Bulgogi tacos: 5/5 I'm a corn tortilla fan, so when I got these tacos and it came with corn tortilla I was sold. Once again, the bulgogi was so good! Soy garlic wings: 4/5 the sauce was a bit too sweet, but the chicken was perfectly crispy and light and so many came in a small order. Steamed mandu: 0/5 it was honestly a waste... I love mandu but this one was unflavorful and the skin was way too thick. It just tasted bad... wouldn't recommend. Overall, I'd come again for everything but the mandu! Delicious food and large portions, definitely a place I'll be returning to! read more

Lots and lots of food! The photos don't do this place justice! The servings are large, Filling and very tasty! Husband and I got take out while we were in town and also got two appetizers - which were tasty but waaaaay too much food for two people with a hotel mini fridge. I would definitely recommend to anyone, just be sure to be aware of portions! read more

A linguistic barrier does not exist because I speak the language. This repeated and targeted avoidance occurred during this tragic visit as well. None of the staff bid us farewell- which they do with almost every customer if they have a chance- nor did they apologize for targeting us and making us visibly uncomfortable. I would not recommend going to this place, especially if you are black/brown. Go to Troy/Sterling Heights area instead!
