Overall, pretty great. Some areas could've been executed better than others. The main issue I have…read moreis that the amount of glue that still remains on the floor has been tedious to remove. I still haven't gotten around to all of it just because there are so many patches of glue on the flooring that they installed. It does come off, but it's just labor intensive. I wish they would've cleaned it a lot better after the flooring had been set and dried.

I would not recommend this company…read more I chose them because the scope I discussed with the account manager included replacing my flooring and installing a new vanity I had already purchased. I verbally confirmed that scope with the account manager and paid an invoice that included a line item for that portion of the work. Despite that, the installer arrived without all of the necessary materials and informed me he was not comfortable installing the vanity. To be clear, I have no issue with the installer declining work he wasn't comfortable performing. What I do have an issue with is being told afterward that vanity installation was never included, despite it being discussed with the account manager and being a major reason I selected this company over other bids. The installer himself encouraged me to request a refund for that portion of the project, but the company only provided a partial refund ($180). As a result, I am left with an unfinished project, a sink currently being held up by a 2x4, and the need to hire a second contractor to complete the work. What should have been a straightforward bathroom update has turned into a major headache. By the time the project is finally finished, I will have spent significantly more than the original quote, despite choosing this company because I believed they would handle the full scope of work from start to finish.

We moved into a new home and wanted our dinning room floor (which was carpet) to be hardwood so the…read morekitchen hardwood floor flowed right into the dinning room. Anthony and Mark came out and let us know it might look a little off to have an older kitchen floor with a new dinning room floor but gave me prices on both options - just the dinning room or refinishing the kitchen floor at the same time as the dinning room. No pressure just gave me the options. I'm glad we chose to refinish the kitchen floor at the same time because now everything looks perfect. Those guys work hard and are very fast! Jennifer who runs the office was very responsive to all my questions and texts before and during the process. The final cost came in right on point with the estimate and most importantly, the end result is great. I would not hesitate to use ProWorks again.

As one of the other reviewers said, these guys use subcontractors of varying quality. They had to…read morerefinish the floor 3 times because the owner insisted on sending the same crew back each time (which makes sense if using a fixed-price sub - keeps their profit intact). I communicated my concerns professionally (and almost apologetically) with the owner as we went, but I'm not sure that any of them were addressed directly with the crew - rather they were just given basic instructions at the start of each day to fix the problems from the last go 'round. I'll give them credit for trying to make it right, and the floor looks a lot better than it did when they started, but it still wasn't 100% at the end and they didn't want to listen to any more complaints. A list of items specific issues that as far as I can tell were never communicated back to the crew: - The first thing the crew leader did was take a dump in my bathroom, without asking, and made this a daily ritual. - They didn't bother to cover anything up before sanding - no sheathing between rooms, no covers over the vents - so dust was everywhere in the house. At least I had the good sense to turn off the HVAC, but still had to change the air filters several times before they finished the job. - They sanded/buffed the carpet, trashing it where the carpet meets the hardwood. - Stain was applied in some places across grain / boards rather than same direction leading to stripes (1st attempt), and inconsistently leading to dark splotches (2nd attempt). - They used my ladder (from the garage) without asking. - They left gobs of topcoat around trim and puddling elsewhere. - They did not take the time to use filler properly after the second attempt - there are dark spots around nails, knots, and where sanding was rough. - Hand sanding was quite rough in several areas leading to dark stain, especially around trim, cabinets, toilet, etc. And they didn't thoroughly clean or screen before coating in several places, leading to dirt and debris in the finish. - Stain spatter was left on the wall from brush work and flinging wet towels. The sinks were a left an absolute mess. - There was no real cleanup to speak of and patches of grass are dead in the front yard where they cleaned stain off their tools and equipment. - The "suicide cord" they were using to connect to 240V was a fire and safety hazard. After attempting to share my last round of concerns (not asking for them to redo it again but rather just trying to share some of the issues for future improvement), Anthony told me to stop looking so closely and asked, "You gonna blast us on the internet?" indicating his level of concern. For a website that touts their high level of professionalism and reputation, the crew did not reflect it. If I wasn't a professional contractor myself, then this might have been a traumatic experience. And if I knew the crew and could have hired them directly, then I would have undoubtedly paid half as much... but then they might not have redone it 3 times (especially because I would have kicked them out after the second attempt). I never asked for a discount, and one was certainly never offered. I'm leaving 2 stars because on Yelp that means it "could've been better" but for the price I paid to go with the "pros" I regret not giving one of the other bidders a chance.

Royal Surfaces is a great company, dedicated to the highest quality in their work and superlative…read morecustomer service. We recently had Royal Surfaces replace the hardwood flooring on the lower level of our home. It was a large and complex job, involving multiple rooms, levels, sub-surfaces, curved edges, and angles. They first impressed us with their ability to track down the Amish, hand scraped walnut flooring that matched our existing floors. This involved contacting multiple hardwood manufacturers and bringing samples to our home. They took multiple measurements to ensure that the appropriate amount of wood was ordered, without being wasteful. In doing so, they saved us money, given the cost of the wood. Paula Do Lago, co-owner, was directly involved in this process and it was delightful to work with her. The installation was scheduled to begin after the wood arrived and was given the proper amount of time to acclimate. During this waiting period, Alex, also a co-owner, came in and removed the old flooring. He was meticulous in putting up plastic to protect our home and cabinets from dust and debris. After removing the old flooring, he carefully leveled and prepped the sub-flooring (both concrete slab and plywood) for the new installation. The installation occurred on schedule and despite the size of the job, was completed in just two days. Again, Alex was meticulous in aligning the boards and ensuring a perfect installation. The result was a new, beautiful floor with minimal mess or disruption. We most certainly give Royal Surfaces a 5+ rating, highly recommend them and have already contracted with them to do three more rooms in our home in January. Contract with Paula and Alex at Royal Surfaces, you will be glad you did!

He also installed new MDF for the stair risers (not painted yet in photo since they don't handle painting). Floor has no creaks in the rooms/hallway and looks beautiful. Pricing was fair and the best I could find in the area, and they were good about removing the costs for anything I handled myself (I removed old carpet and LVP, etc.) even though there were a handful of staples I wasn't able to pull myself from the stair risers. Just one word of warning, make sure you measure your floor space yourself--their measurements for the work were off by about 50 square feet, which would have made a big difference in the number of boxes of material I had to purchase. I think this was probably accidental from them including the bathrooms but given that _every_ floorer I spoke to provided inaccurate estimates it's best to just do the measuring/math yourself.
