Lots of goodies. Staff is really nice. It gets really busy early since everyone wants everything fresh. Always a good option for Guatemalan treats and pastries.

What a delicious traditional Guatemalan place we found. As soon as you walk in you can smell the freshly baked bread. We got the huevos revueltos breakfast, the refried black beans were so tasty, the eggs had tomatada on top and that just made them perfect. The only thing was that the plátanos fritos were cold. We also got the carne asada breakfast, the carne asada was so delicious and tender. The meals come with coffee and a freshly baked bolillo (roll). We also ordered several pieces of pan dulce to take home and share with the fam. They only have six tables to eat inside, so you need to get up early to beat the crowd. They do have a few table outside as well, but it was raining today.

Our go to when we want different kind of breakfast sandwich. The carne asada torta that I always get is grilled fresh. The ladies at the counter that take your order are always friendly and easy to talk to. When we order ahead, our food is usually ready. But when it's early in the morning, the bakery is full of customers waiting and eating. The bakery has a nice feel and is always busy. The whole ambiance of the bakery is like being home when your mom or grandma are cooking.

    Pan con nada

No jodas bicho!!!! Están ustedes peor que Mc. Dondalds. Entre los años la Big Mac se a echo más y más chiquita. Pues así están ustedes con su pan con nada..... digo pan con todo. Entre los años le van quitando media pulgada al bolillo.

Guatemalan food! "Where is Guatemala" one might ask? Well, if one starts at the border of New Mexico and Mexico and goes south down the middle, one will eventually hit the border of Mexico and Guatemala! Now why is this important? It is important because the two countries are neighbors and therefore have almost identical ingredients in their cuisines; rice, beans, plantains, corn and etc. However, if you try the seemingly same dishes from both sides with some foodie curiosity, you will notice that there are differences. Some of those small differences will make a big difference if you have a particular pallet. Universal Bakery is a clean, spacey and friendly place for one to try Guatemalan food. The owner is very friendly and the service is very good. The ingredients are high quality and the dishes are delicious. We tried a few different items and they were all good, and according to my personal Guatemalan cuisine consultant who was enjoying the dishes right next to me, they are done "the way they are done in Guatemala"! Go for it! Discover the finer differences between Central American cuisines!

I'm loving this place but i feel like the heart stays in the location spotted on 30th and Mission. But this is closer to me so it'll do. I come every morning or so to grab either my conchas, champurradas, or pan con todo y platanos with coffee or freshly made orange juice. A bit pricey but i have to say it's worth it man. The ladies that work here are so sweet and kind. Makes you feel like home.

The food is very good and original Guatemalan dishes and pastries. Everything is good here and I order my Christmas tamales here, they are very tasty.

This is unacceptable! This place is already small and they think it's ok to take off their mask to chat!

We got the pork belly benedict, fried chicken & waffles and Thai basil fried rice with steak. Everything was really good, but the fried rice was probably my favorite. It was Saturday midday and the area was quite busy, but we were able to find street parking a few blocks away. Tip: if you park on the street, beware of 1 hr parking signs on certain sections of the street! We waited just under 10 minutes to get in because we were a small party and could immediately see how lively it was inside. I really liked the decor. It felt homey, but still sleek and modern, very understated in a good way with natural tones. It was totally my kind of restaurant. Again it was quite busy inside, and I think that may be why service was just okay. When we sat down, our table had two empty water glasses, but no water. I looked at tables next to us and realized they all had bottles of water, and one table had two, so I wondered if they took ours. In any case, the waiter must have missed it when we were seated and given menus, so it took a bit for us to wave someone down for water. We also ended up needing another napkin later, and it was a bit hard to catch the eye of anyone to ask for more as they hustled by. Looking at the menu, everything looked good, so we tried a few things: crab and sweet corn benedict, pork belly benedict, and matcha pancakes. And that's where we were let down a little more. Most of our food came out cold or lukewarm. For the benedicts, I hypothesized it might have been because they were made with fresh hollandaise, but my friend told me hollandaise can be made hot, so that theory went out the window. For the pancakes, I am not really sure what happened. Other than that, my friend's pork belly was very chewy and hard to cut. Overall, though everything was presented well and looked great, the execution was just not there. Still, I had a nice chat with another customer who ordered the porridge and really enjoyed it, so I know they are doing other things well on the menu, it was just not our day I guess. All that said, we had an okay experience, but I don't know if it's enough to warrant a repeat visit if not for a specific occasion.

Room was spacious and well laid out. Big bed, firm mattress, everything looked maintained. Desk setup was actually usable, not just for show. TV, microwave, coffee station -- all there. Nothing luxury, but nothing missing either. Good natural light from the window, and the room felt quiet at night, which matters. Breakfast was included and decent. Waffles, muffins, yogurt, coffee -- simple but enough to start the day. Not gourmet, but consistent with the brand. Coffee was fresh, which is key. Gym was a plus. Not huge, but had the basics: cardio machines, weights, clean space. You can get a real workout in, not just a token "fitness room." Cleanliness overall was solid. Bathroom was tidy, common areas looked maintained. No issues there. Service was straightforward. Staff polite, check-in and check-out smooth, no friction. Only downside -- it's very "standard."
