Food was about a 4. Ordering was through a confusing kiosk. The pick shows the size you get for a sauce side, which you have to pay for if you don't want it directly on your food. Ok so far, but not good. Then the industrial shop vac started, and right behind a family of four. If you ever want to eat next a jet taking off, this is the place for you! I asked if it could be turned off as we were now the only people there. Nope, the water must be sucked up. Ever heard of a mop. We ended up eating in our car. Now - to to the food order& delivery. It was a self serve kiosk including payment. You add your phone number and you get an automated text to pick it up at the counter. And it asked at checkout if you wanted to add a tip, starting at 20 percent. For zero human interaction. I don't give my money to machines. We will not go back. read more

The gringo taco was a special $2 for literally a meat and tortilla with some cilantro and onions. This experience didn't hold weight to an el limon visit. Since my first experience I went back and getting the regular tacos with whatever toppings I wanted was 100% better! There's literally over a dozen toppings to choose from. These aren't authentic Mexican but more Tex mex. Much better experience customizing What I wanted my second time around. I've been wanting to order here for awhile! Today I craved a quesadilla so I figured it was the perfect spot to try since it was local! There were some technical issues with order specific items but when I called the shop they were super accommodating and helpful! This was a late night order so to have staff be friendly and helpful 30 minutes before closing is a huge win! The restaurant was clean and welcoming as I picked up the food! I got two items: the crunch wrap and the quesadilla. The quesadilla was 10/10!! Hefty! Cut into 4 pieces! Perfect amount of cheese and I full of flavor with the ingredients it comes with! The crunch wrap was a 7/10. I wasn't a fan of the rice in the wrap just because it made it a little dry. I think without it, it could've been better. All in all though a great choice! First time coming here and i am Beyond disappointed. Let's start with $30 for 5 tacos that were COLD!! That we waiting 25 mins for. no one else was there the entire time we were waiting. What's really blowing me is that everything was cold all the meats were cold the chicken the carnita and steak, why do you even have a griddle? Not only was it COLD we got "fresh salsa" on the tacos and the water from the tacos make my COLD not toasted or warm tortillas soggy. Only way i will try this place again is if i got my money back first. Do better! read more

As Unity Taqueria is only a short walk (albeit uphill), I had high hopes for its opening. Getting the restaurant open seems to take longer than anticipated (maybe COVID related). That might be the only downside I can present in this review and it probably wasn't even in their control. Seriously, Unity has a lot to offer. Non-Tuesdays, they offer the full menu with everything made to order. Further, you select the details, from the toppings down to the sauces. Their burritos are little bundles of joy. More importantly, Taco Tuesday brings a modified menu. $2 street tacos is all they offer (well, along with chips and dip). I usually get 3-5 for a solid meal on the cheap. Again, made to order and customized to your requests. Steak with their hot sauce or Chicken with the avocado sauce (well both) are my recommendations. Beyond the food, Unity has an awesome social/community mission. They put their money (and hiring) where your mouth is, so to speak. Its a nice added bonus to an otherwise awesome meal! read more

Went here to get takeout with a friend. There were touchscreens to order inside, one was broken but it wasn't crowded so I just waited for my friend to order and used the other one. I ordered a burrito and while I was impressed with the customizable options and also the vegan options, for some reason I was only allowed to click one protein so even though I thought I ordered the vegan chicken and black beans, only black beans ended up on my final receipt. Sad. Also unfortunately, I ordered a variety of fillings like lettuce, sour cream, corn salsa, 2 types of hot sauce and rice, but the burrito was 95% rice. At first I thought it just wasn't mixed well, but 1/2 the way down, it was not getting any more toppings, just dry rice (no sauces either). I did double check the receipt and make sure the toppings did all make it on the order. I couldn't continue eating it because it was just dry rice. I ordered chips and queso too, and the queso was a little thick/chunky but fine. I'm just sad about my burrito. read more

This place is somewhere you want to go for some fresh & delicious tacos. You literally can customize EVERYTHING, easy ordering on an Ipad, and not break the bank. While the ambiance is no frills, I kinda appreciate that. At times you just want tasty, and efficient and we had that. I actually was amazed of the three staff working there. While we were waiting, there were a lot of third party take out orders and they didn't break stride. Everything is literally made to order so it can be quite stressful. They accommodated us in every way possible even when we personally messed up an order. We ordered flour tortilla tacos - carnitas and barbacoa were better than chicken. At least for this time. Will tell you next time what I ordered and hopefully get to remember to take pictures before we eat all of it. I don't know how I never been here or heard of Unity Taqueria before today. All tacos are made fresh made to order with all the fixings. HEAVENLY!! Upon arriving be certain to keep you eyes open because you can easily drive past within seeing the sign outside. There's ample street parking and there's a lot on the side of the building albeit I'm not certain it public parking. When I walking the place was spotless and the staff as super nice. I chatted up with the manager and she was nice enough to give the 4-1-1 on the business and some of the go to items off the menu. For my vegans out there, there are plenty of options here so I ended up getting a street taco and an open burrito both with vegan chorizo. :chefs kiss: I am a huge fan and I cannot wait to get back in to enjoy other items on their menu. read more

Being a xicana from Los Angeles who gets tired of cooking at home every weeknight is becoming increasingly difficult to keep hoping raving reviews are true. Finally visited Unity for a date night out, but was met with less than subpar "Mexican" food. Ordered nachos with the "varnitas" and opened up the box(with our name written on it) to nachos covered in bacon and other toppings we didn't order. I don't think I've written more than 3 reviews ever on here but I love this place and go more often so I want to support. They fill your taco to the brim and everything is customizable. It's so full that some of the toppings fall out and I put them in my quesadilla the next day for lunch. The people are always super nice and the music is on point. Didn't realize I was paying $40 for a shittier version of Taco Bell. Please I'm begging you--do not go to this place. I thought that the high rating was legit and went to the place excited. I should have known when arriving that things were off--in the basement of a "luxury" apartment building, no cash accepted??, and the place smelled like cleaning products. I cannot believe I paid $9 for stale grocery store tortilla chips and a mini cup of queso. 3 tacos for $10 is pretty standard but I could not stomach even one. Finally! I have been waiting for them to open and it does not disappoint. I visited the soft opening both Saturday and Sunday ordering different tacos each day and of course Queso and chips. Queso and chips are delicious. Queso is creamy with just a little heat. The breakfast chorizo and egg taco is slamming. Also bought a bottle of their RBF hot sauce. Highly recommend! I'm all for the mission statement of this establishment, but I have to rate it like I would any restaurant. Unfortunately, there just wasn't a lot to praise. Now, I want to disclaim that we ordered delivery, so take that as you will. First of all, the portions were really small. You can see in the picture that the amount of components on my tacos was tiny. Even the onion and cilantro- which are not particularly costly ingredients, were difficult to spot. I mean, they only gave me one corn tortilla per taco- I feel like that says a lot. Besides the portion, the food just isn't that good. There needs to be curated tacos with preset ingredients to create something special- you're not going to do yourself any favors by having a chipotle-style restaurant where guests make their own tacos. And, to be frank, the cooking needs work. My wife's taco had pieces of rice that weren't cooked- leaving her with the occasional crunch of hard rice. I hope improvements can be made, but right now this isn't a place I can recommend. read more

I ordered one carnitas taco with chipotle mayo sauce and one chicken taco with hot tomatillo sauce topped with cilantro and onion (the only toppings they offer on Tuesdays). They could've put a little more sauce on them but my favorite was the carnitas taco. You can also get as many different types of sauces on each taco and not just limit it to one. It was so tender and flavorful. I also ordered their special quesadilla that was the only other thing available to order on a Tuesday. For $14, you've got to be kidding me. I certainly felt like I was being ripped off. It was so small and didn't come with any sauces, salsa, or sour cream. It came pre-sliced and the pieces were literally the same size as my tacos. They consisted of chicken, cilantro, onion, cheese, and corn. Nothing special... It was also barely filled...almost looked as flat as a cheese quesadilla. I have to knock of two stars for this. I ended up ordering two more tacos to fill me up (should've just ordered one more though) and they were just as good as the first time. I wish there were more toppings offered on Tuesdays. read more

First off let me say, we are from the west coast and Mexican food expectations are high. Went during taco Tuesday. Got steak "street" tacos. Chips and Queso. And Churros. Tacos corn tortilla was cold with a single tortilla (all street tacos I've ever had come standard with 2 tortillas, heated on a flat top to prevent tearing) steak was sparse dry and cold. Something was sweet between the hot sauce and avocado sauce I got. Not sure which one it was. Cilantro and onions were also sparse. I get it. It's just a two dollar taco. Sauce was also barely there. Asked for lime. They didn't have any... never had street tacos without lime. Queso and chips are the reason for a star. It was tasty. And spicy enough. Would grab that again as a snack. Churro was very chewy and seemed like it was pre made at an earlier time and reheated. I prefer churros freshly made. Hot, crunchy outside, soft inside, sweet. That being said mostly everything seemed as if it was pre made and then just put together. Which is also bizarre because street tacos are so basic and easy to make fresh. If you want decent authentic street tacos. Venture to South Philly and hit up Prima Pizza Taqueria Mexicana. 1000% worth the drive. read more

Got takeout for the first time tonight from here, the food was pretty tasty! However the guacamole is quite honestly terrible. The prepackaged guac from the grocery store was better than this. It definitely didn't taste fresh and was suspiciously smooth (absolutely no chunks of avocado) seems like it was maybe made from a powdered packet mix. Don't waste your money on it. We also got the chips which were super stale or not cooked enough. They were not crisp and we couldn't eat them. The quality of the food was good but the prices are pretty expensive. read more

Good food at a high quality price. I Usually get a burrito bowl with chicken. Like that it comes with a tortilla. I would certainly get it more often if my bowls didn't come to $18+. If you want chips and queso add another $11? Very expensive. Also the guac tastes exactly like those packets you get at giant id like to see a video of them home making that. First off, bravo to the mission of this cantina! Hands down. Would give it five stars based on that and that I can walk there. Food needs some help. Relatively bland options and no real sense of flavor. You have to work hard at figuring out what options work for you to get the flavors to work. It's not horrible just not super flavorful. I'm a bit biased being spoiled on the west coast, so if you're not familiar with that it might be 100%. I also have had plenty of tex-mex and this doesn't meet that. Stopped by for a late lunch on a Saturday. Parked on the street down the block, whether there is lot parking was unclear. They have a few tables with umbrellas outside on the sidewalk. Inside is a small window counter to eat, a few tables, fridges stocked with jaritos and other cold drinks, and touch screen ordering at the counter. Food was average. Ordering on the touch screen was fine, but some points that frustrated me: you couldn't select to have different meat options in the order of 3 tacos, so I ended up spending much more to order 3 single tacos of different varieties. If you want sauce on the side expect to pay $0.35 extra for each one. Did this and they left out one of the sauces we ordered, but didn't notice until after we had finished eating most of our food. Lots of filling/topping options which I appreciated, but wasn't a big fan of the tacos. We got chicken, steak and vegan carnitas tacos and they that were a bit underwhelming. We got the smaller size burrito with carnitas, refried beans, roasted garlic, tortilla strips, queso and lettuce and we enjoyed that much more than the tacos. They were out of roasted veggies which we were looking forward to putting in the burrito. The only complaint about the small burrito is that it is advertised as $8 on the menu located outside on the door, but when you go to order on the touch screen it is $8.75. It wasn't enough to prevent me from ordering it, and I'm glad I did because it was the item we enjoyed eating the most, but it was one of the few disappointments I had when I came to order on the touch screen and paired with the mediocrity of the food I am not itching to come back and order again. read more

Love the idea behind the place itself and the mission. It's a bit peculiar when you walk in you order yourself on a screen while all the staffs stairs aimlessly. The tacos were absolutely amazing tho and priced well for being able to have all the options available. I will say they are not dog friendly... you have to go inside to order... no umbrellas at the tables... no dog water bowl. I had to ask and off the clock worker to get water for the dog.
