If you are really into skating transitions, this is not the park for you as this is really geared towards street skaters. On the day I came through, the kids were pretty obnoxious so I would be hesitant to bring kids to the park that's connected to the skatepark. Regardless of that however, they were really good at skateboarding and it was fun to watch them shred while I was catching my breath in between runs. It was interesting that they had coping on the ledges that went straight into the corners of the park yet opted to leave other more accessible ledges without coping, but this is a minor complaint. I would come back here again, but I would like to practice a bit beforehand as the skill level required to really kill it here is a little higher than what I currently possess!

I've known of this park in the San Leandro Marina since I was a child, so decades and decades…read more There used to be a lively marina here where dozens of small boats could dock. The landscape used to have have that classic mariners look with rows of boat mast and hulls lined up in symmetric harmony with the backdrop of the bay. Waterfront restaurants used to thrive in this corner with views and special occasions would funnel here. Now the marina is gone, docks and boats have all been removed. The restaurants now are left with just 2 and those have not seen their glory days in decades. A much less thriving and celebrated area than it once was. But there are still nice paved trails here that are super popular amongst the locals whether families with kids/pets, seniors on their daily walk/stretch or people enjoying the massive grassy space. There are lots of picnic areas with bbq grills, lots of places to just sit and relax so on weekends this place still gets really busy, even with the waning changes that have transpired. I like to take walks here either later in the evening like sunset time if I have dined out nearby. A great way to walk off a little part of my dinner and soak in the chill views. Also love coming very early in the mornings before the masses really show up. Early enough the air is cooler, the park cleaner and just much easier to park and move around. When this place gets busy it is too urban for me, takes away from the serenity. So when I don't have time to venture into a true open space with hills and/or a forested area, a simple stroll here does me just fine. There are nice trees here and to walk right next to the bay turns an ordinary stroll into a more special one. To that I give my props and my appreciation.

Created in a time when land in the area was more abundant. Big shade trees also indicate the possible age of this place. Lots of grass and green to look at. Across from Hayward police department. Who knows... but in a time when fear is so commonplace - this might be a place you feel safe to let your kids play in Hayward. Lots of lawn - good to let your dog do their business and let your kids roll around - germs are good for kids to prevent allergies, right? Good utilitarian park with all the basics - I suppose it doesn't have that 'it' factor which makes it less popular - but in the era of social distancing that might be even more of a plus.

My son plays basketball at the nearby recreation center and we walked over to the park after his session- not realizing it was Mia's Dream Come True until halfway through play. This park is epic - from the Braille to the musical/sound features, awesome fire truck and the spouting whale! We could spend hours here (or at least an hour because Mama's got a schedule). For now we'll be back most weekends after basketball practice. I'd recommend this park to all parents of small children.

My biggest tip is to avoid after-school hours if you can. The playground gets extremely crowded, and it can be hard for little ones to navigate all the excitement. It's easy to see why so many families love it.

Oh my goodness that's so long ago. Meek Park today is still as lovely as I remembered it, but even better because they now have the water fountain flowing. The grounds are maintained well with beautiful lush grass and pretty flowers. I also saw some cute cats in their garden area. They have a parking lot with plenty of spots. The playgound looks whimsy and elegant at the same time. I'm so happy that their poop bag stations have actual poop bags! I had poop bags with me, but it's just so helpful when a park also provides poop bags as well just in case people need them. I think they have a restroom area if I remember correctly. I know there was an area with plenty of picnic tables.

The whole park is fenced off, with locking gates to the parking lot. There are many paved trails here, along with picnic areas and playgrounds. There are always people here walking the trail along the outer edge of the park. I have not yet been inside of the mansion, but this park is nice enough to go to on its own. But checking out the inside of this mansion is definitely on my to do list!!!!
