I've known of this park in the San Leandro Marina since I was a child, so decades and decades. There used to be a lively marina here where dozens of small boats could dock. The landscape used to have have that classic mariners look with rows of boat mast and hulls lined up in symmetric harmony with the backdrop of the bay. Waterfront restaurants used to thrive in this corner with views and special occasions would funnel here. Now the marina is gone, docks and boats have all been removed. The restaurants now are left with just 2 and those have not seen their glory days in decades. A much less thriving and celebrated area than it once was. But there are still nice paved trails here that are super popular amongst the locals whether families with kids/pets, seniors on their daily walk/stretch or people enjoying the massive grassy space. There are lots of picnic areas with bbq grills, lots of places to just sit and relax so on weekends this place still gets really busy, even with the waning changes that have transpired. I like to take walks here either later in the evening like sunset time if I have dined out nearby. A great way to walk off a little part of my dinner and soak in the chill views. Also love coming very early in the mornings before the masses really show up. Early enough the air is cooler, the park cleaner and just much easier to park and move around. When this place gets busy it is too urban for me, takes away from the serenity. So when I don't have time to venture into a true open space with hills and/or a forested area, a simple stroll here does me just fine. There are nice trees here and to walk right next to the bay turns an ordinary stroll into a more special one. To that I give my props and my appreciation. read more

I decided to come to this recreational park for Independence Day since I haven't been here for a while. There's so many people picnicking and barbecuing here. I could have came here earlier but I had breakfast in the morning. So I wanted to rest a bit and then go later. It's really nice bringing your family, friends, and kids to celebrate Fourth of July here. I knew that it's going to be a lot of people here anyways. read more

Public restrooms at both the front and back of the park. Across the street from Monarch Bay Golf Club. Service - Self service. Price - Free, unless you are renting space. Marina Park is a nice area for picnics since it has nice grassy areas, trees, etc. Also, it has a pathway to get closer to the water. In addition, there is a small boat launch area you can use. Great sunset/sunrise views. read more

Great for a few mile walk. Waterfront. Lots of parking lots and a restaurant and golf course nearby. I took this great photo of Girlfriends Accord by the water. Looked so pretty - I think the backdrop of this waterfront park and up the looks of any subject. I tend to like the Accord of 20 years ago best. Then it got bigger and heavier and the overweight beached whale that it is today with a tiny turbo engine that burns oil after 60,000 miles. All that was Honda is gone. I like the 1 mile walk. Do some pullups. Do some dips. How about a couple sit ups. Do some movements that improve the flow of your swadhisthana chakra. If that doesn't work gaze at the crescent moon. The ocean bay water is swampy. Its brown and the docks are now too shallow for boats. Thanks to the mayor who saved money and didn't dredge the area for boats. People love this park for soccer. The field is very popular various sports. Go fly a kite. No, this isn't some mean thing to say to people - this is a great park to go do that. Lots of wind blowing. This is a park ok to travel 20 or 10 miles to get to - I think at least once just for the view. San Francisco city skyline is nice to gaze at and the airplanes taking off from Oakland Airpot is great too. Part of the park is closed off and is in desperate need. read more

After getting some food from DT Dim Sum, stopped here for a picnic and to enjoy our meal with views of the marina. Parking lot seems to always be full and busy. There's also parking along Monarch Bay Dr too. It was peaceful today with many families out walking together on the 1 mile trail along the marina shoreline/jetty. Plenty of benches and picnic tables around with a small playground for kids, too. read more

I have been here MANY times throughout the years and I absolutely love this place in San Leandro. It is a very fun family friendly park with two playgrounds, a mile walking area to exercise, run, bike, etc. that's near the waterfront. You can also see tons of airplanes fly down to the Oakland airport from here. On the mile trail, there are also different exercise signs to motivate you if you want to do them! There's also a large grass area to do a picnic/play soccer/volleyball, etc. and there are a ton of tables to do a BBQ and more. I've seen so many gatherings here such as: birthday parties, graduation parties, reunions, or even just a normal hangout or date! Or even come solo for yourself to enjoy the nature. There is two free parking lots and free street parking. There are two restrooms, one at each side of the playground - it's not the cleanest but it will do for a public park. I love this park and it's my number one, favorite spot in San Leandro! read more

Big, beautiful and clean park on the San Leandro Marina. This park is a wonderful respite during COVID-19. Great walking paths along the coastline with exercise prompts along the way for the fitness-minded. People were maintaining social distance and many wearing masks, even on the paths. Clean restrooms (bring your own sanitizer though). Recently, I discovered the Bay Trail and I love it. From San Leandro to the San Mateo bridge it's about 12 miles one-way, but I just try to do 3-4 miles each time I visit. If you're facing the water, it's to the left of the 1-mile loop/parking lot. During covid times, almost everyone has been pretty considerate at keeping a 6ft distant and wearing masks. There are lots of walkers, runners and bikers trying to get some fresh air and exercise here. Also, this park is dog friendly! There's a dog park and it's divided in half (one side for small dogs and one for large dogs). I don't have a dog myself (yet) but I love seeing all these furry friends here! read more

Well today I said to self! My Goodness you have expanded. You need to walk and get healthy lady. My daughter said she join me how sweet. She also brought her puppy. Yes, I'm so out of shape walked 15 min. Exhausted. Sat 3min. Than we began to walk again. My daughter puppy hasn't been on a walk in forever. She was out of shape! Well this all changes! She loved the walk the fresh air was so nice. Plenty of people and dogs walking. Everyone was respectful kept six feet. It was a very warm day. I'm glad it had cooled off. I sweated up a storm. I'm happy I will get myself back together. It is 6:14pm I only have 5,797 steps! I must get 10,000. I will clean up etc! I got this! I hope you all had a Wonderful first day of April! read more

San Leandro's Marina Park is a delightful hidden gem on the west side of residential and industrial Alameda. There are massive amounts of parking here. Even on the busiest Saturday there are ample spaces. You may have to walk a little bit, but its all fairly close. There are bathrooms around the park. They are not well stocked, but are relatively clean. The best aspect of this park is the built-in gym equipment. I love to go here to exercise. You can run along the water and take breaks to do exercises on the gym equipment. During the pandemic, this was a lifesave. Overall, great park! read more

This is an amazing park right by the water! It's very spacious with bountiful picnic tables and a widespread lawn. It is also well maintained as I rarely see litter and the grass is always green and manicured. A perk about this park are the two walking trails. One is a mile loop that goes out into the bay and the other is a straight stretch of 2 miles that hugs the coast. My favorite part about the mile loop is beach that appears during low tide. It's actually not a real beach, but there's sand so I consider it to be one. I love to skip rocks there. The Marina Park has always been a popular spot, but since the pandemic, it truly feels as if it's at capacity, especially on weekends and holidays. I love coming here. Whether you're looking for a serene get away, a nice workout, or a place for the kids to burn off some energy, this place has so much to offer. The workout equipment is a huge plus. There are also a couple of trails, both of which are marked at each 1/4 mile so I can track how far I've walked. Then of course there's the water; sometimes it gets low enough to venture to one of the islands. The parks are also nice for the kids. The one for big kids recently got updated and has a little something for everyone. The other park is nicer for smaller kids and has a push button fountain that the kids can run through and play with. There are always parties and bbq's happening here. The lot fills up quick when the weather is nice or when there are events, but there is street parking available. Tends to be windy even on warm days so bring a jacket just in case. read more

Beautiful San Leandro Marina park with open water view! Been going here for years and felt it was time to add my two cents. This park is currently being renovated but almost done and still enjoyable. I am glad they are finally fixing this place! They finally got rid of many of the construction around it. They are fixing the parking lots, too, which needed tender loving care as there used to be tons of pot holes. My favorite part is the one mile round about for exercise. The lines for the mile is actually not accurate but still good enough to know how many you have done. I usually go around it five times and then use the exercise equipment at the end. It's very popular with the elders though and sometimes, you have to wait to use it but I don't mind since the view of the Marina is awesome! You can rent the large group picnic areas for parties at pretty good price through the recreation center. The kids love the playground. Bathrooms are pretty decent. If you want to enjoy a leisurely walk with your dog or a friend, or enjoy the Marina waters usually with a nice breeze and see planes come in and out, this is the place to come. Awesome place to take your dogs for a walk or go for a walk/run yourself. Beautiful bay water surrounding you as you go down the paved trail. You get to have views of the city skyline and see the planes flying into Oakland airport, which is so cool because they get so close! There is also a lot of grass and concrete areas where you can barbecue. Park is kept clean. Parking can get tight in the parking lot, but spots do open up and street parking is available. What makes for a beautiful sunset? What did I do to deserve seeing something that gorgeous! I sometimes ask myself that. Traveling the states this year, I couldn't help but notice the beautiful sunsets. The colors are impeccable and always keep me wanting more. I was recently at dinner near the San Leandro Marina and upon leaving, I noticed the sunset. I was so excited, "OMG, Look at the sunset!" Next thing I know, we were driving to the Marina so I can be right in front of the beautiful view! The beautiful horizontal layered rainbow coloring was just remarkable to watch. What makes it even better was watching the planes land and depart from the nearby airport that sits nicely off the water and gives the Marina a more stunning view at night; also makes for a lovely hot spot. The sunsets offered never-ending cloud formations with a wonderful view of the water rustling from left to right. Not only does this make for wonderful photos during the sunset hours; it also is a great place to have dinner. Makes for a perfect dinner date and evening walk. This is one of my favorite places to visit in the East Bay! read more

What's not to like. I used to walk here regularly with Bebe a few years ago and I decided to treat ourselves to a walk recently because the views are beautiful and it's a big enough park for you to have some peace and quiet. There are picnic tables, barbecue pits, circuit equipment to do exercises, benches to enjoy the water and view on warm days and 1 mile trail near the water. In cooler weather, you can see squirrels standing up on their hind legs and when Bebe walks by, they freeze and turn into statues to pretend they aren't real! There are garbage receptacles for you to dump your doggie's dirty business but many do not and you have to watch where you step or you might squish a landmine. On this particular day of our walk, it was rather warm so we only walked the one mile trail near the water. The other side has two dog parks, one for the tiny dogs and one for big dogs to run. There's usually an ice cream truck in the parking lot in case you need something to cool off with. Best time to come here is in the weekday mornings or afternoons because it can get rather busy and hot on weekends. read more

Great for everyone! Very Family and dog friendly. Place for many activities: exercises around the loop, walking, running, flying kites, soccer and other sports on grass area, playground for the kids, and fishing near the water. There is even space for parties or even small, intimate barbecues. Even if you are just looking for a place to relax on a bench or on the grass, to sit among the rocks near the water, or to even play pokemon-go--Marina Park is always a good time. Only downside would be the amount of limited parking in the lot closer to the loop and playground--you might have to circle it a few times, but it's free. There's also street parking and an additional parking lot closer to the picnic tables and dock area where the Marina Park Sign is located. Recommend arriving an hour before the sunset! Arrived around 7pm and what a sight to see when the sun is going down. read more

Well, I've definitely increased my endurance since the last time I walked here, which was probably two years ago. Marina Park is right by the ocean. Perfect for clearing your head of stress, watching planes land at OAK, or just spending quality time exercising with the family. The park used to have plenty of squirrels scurrying around the one mile path, unafraid of humans that actually treat them well/leave them alone. The construction of better pathways and new exercise equipment sent them in search of new homes. This park is broken down into several parts and trails. There's the popular one mile route jutting out into the ocean and back again at the very end of the drive. Easily spot San Mateo bridge and the city skyscrapers (SF or Oakland, not sure). The SF? trail on the left includes a gated no leash dog park, at least I think it's no leash, and the actual greenery area with a small amphitheater and plenty of picnic tables scattered throughout. Playgrounds for the kids! Clean restrooms. Various parking options: several lots and street parking. There's always an ice cream truck parked in the lot for a cool treat. This park has a lot going on around it; the golfing club is across the street, the harbor for boat/yacht enthusiasts is adjacent to the park, and Horatio's restaurant is in the midst of it. I love the ocean and as Moana sings, "See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me!" This park was the first thought that came to mind when I heard that song. This spot has become a favorite of ours. We bring our bikes and go on a family bike ride here at the park. They have great trails along the water with an amazing view of Oakland and San Francisco! The park itself has many opens spaces and great place to grill or picnic. The employees keep the park clean and safe. Highly recommend to those in the area. read more

While having lunch at Horatio's, I noticed an attractive looking park seen from the restaurant. After we were finished we investigated, and sure enough, Marina Park is just down the street. Lots of families there, a very active playground, and a number of people utilizing the walking paths that extend into the Bay with beautiful views. As one reviewer stated, paths extend all the way to the Hayward interpretive Center. My only suggestion for the park would be the Bay paths could benefit from some foliage planted and maintained near the trails, the surroundings are fairly barren. But if you keep your eyes on the Bay, no problem! read more

Came here for the water latern festival. Launched our laterns in this pond portion of the water. Good amount of grass near the water to bring a picnic. A nice walking, biking path along the water. a review from @ amom2kidsandapark Our go to when it's way too hot at our place. Seriously, just getting near the water, even if it's just 4 miles, is a game changer. This park is situated along the San Leandro shore between Oyster Bay and Hayward Shoreline. There is so much grass, two playgrounds, group and small picnic areas, exercise equipment, miles of sidewalk space, a beach volleyball court (that usually doubles as a sandbox), a dog park, and fabulous views of the bay. The newer playground is on the south end of the park. It has a slide (only accessible by ladder), a swing set (bucket, standard, and chair swings), a zip line, monkey bars, a spinning post and merry go round and so many climbing opportunities on rope bridges, tunnels and webs. The older playground has a structure, a swing set (bucket only), and a used to be splash pad that has just turned into climbing statues for the kids. The structure has three slides (double, sidewinder, and spiral), ladders, bridges, steps, activities, lookout bubbles and a small rubber underneath. There is a loop around the peninsula (the strip of land that creates the marina) with distance markers, more exercise equipment, great views of landing planes, and way way way too many squirrels for such a small space If you cross the bridge at the end of the park it will connect you will the Bay Trail. I love coming to this park! It's extremely wide and spacious at all angles, literally lol I celebrated a birthday (bubble soccer) and attended a baby shower at this very location. Never really had a bad time. Except for when there is no parking on the weekends, so that can be annoying at times. It's FIRST COME FIRST SERVED for all of the benches at the park. However, the benches with a canopy tent needs to be reserved in advanced for a fee. I also love how they have a dog park as well. About a year ago, the dog park looked pretty run down. However, they recently renovated the entire dog park as of Fall 2018. It looks like an actual dog park now: green grass, agility course, dog houses, and a working water fountain. My husky & maltipoo loves meeting new dogs and they always have fun at the dog park. read more

This has been my training ground since I began running half-marathons 5 years ago. Sure it's mostly flat but you have the elements as a challenge and the Bay scenery as a plus. I've been out here in pre-dawn darkness, fog, wind, and pouring rain, and I've always felt safe. The mile loop par course has been upgraded and they have even added a new weights area. The shoreline trail does connect to the Hayward trail if you want to do a super-long run(this can be lonely in sections so I avoid it.) Otherwise, if you do a little math, do the loop a few times, and run to/from home like I do, you can complete your mileage here. Not only is it a great place to run, it's an awesome park. There are two playgrounds, two dog play areas, and dozens of picnic sites. Horatio's and El Torito are in the same area. And as crazy as it gets, the annual Easter Egg hunt is a fun tradition. Now if only the Cherry Festival would return here...I remember salsa dancing on the green with the bestie back in the day. read more
