This used to be a very low key park many didn't seem to know about...10 years ago. As time has passed, along with a pandemic nothing really feels low key or so special these days. The park rangers do a good job of keeping it clean overall. I've lived in the area over 10 years and it was so much more tranquil before they built more homes where the Cannery was in 2017 & the surrounding area. There are more ppl in the area not native and many aren't the most friendly. The crime has picked up & is compounded because many neighbors don't speak so no one knows who lives here or who doesn't. The police rarely patrol this park for actual crime, but myself and other law abiding neighbors have been harassed over the years at this park. It's next to a school & there is a lot activity around the restrooms/behind that the police don't seem to intercept even if you call them. You are more likely to be harassed/inconvenienced by law enforcement than a criminal. It's not rampant, but ppl do whatever they want at all hours in the park and you are more likely to be questioned as a resident than a non resident.

I came back with my dog, just to relive some childhood memories, and the construction they did really changed it. The new differences I love: - New paved walkways instead of just grassy fields. I think this is much more pleasant for parents pushing strollers. - They have a new tea cup ride? They only had the carousel when I was little! - The okay structure is wow! I wish we had this as a child, but it was lovely to walk around and hear the kids playing and laughing. It brought back some really good memories. I always begged my parents to push me on the round wheel swing. - New infrastructure looks nice and beautiful - They still have the train, it seems only on weekends. - They have a Bocce ball area New changes that I wasn't so fond of: - For the expensive infrastructure, they didn't have those pop bad dispensers, which was surprising. It doesn't affect us much, as we carry a poop bag holder, but I can see it catching folks off guard. - There is no longer an area to greet and feed goats... though, I guess they isn't a bad thing, as my sister got rammed by a goat here as a child. I do miss those goats though. - Lastly, it feels like there is a lot of unused space. So much empty grass! Though, I guess it gets busy in the weekends. Overall, a pleasant new change to a place that's been such an important part of my childhood!

I wasn't sure I'd made it to the right place since it looks like a residential house from the street, but I'm so glad we knocked on the door! Tom was GREAT. He's super knowledgeable and super supportive. I never felt like I was being upsold on any of the items. He was really invested in finding the right board for my kid and my budget. As a parent who doesn't know much about skateboarding, I was really emphasizing my son ignoring how the board looked, and instead focusing on how it felt. Tom really quietly took me aside and helped me understand that it was also important for my son to have a board that he likes the look of so he's confident on it at the skate parks. I really appreciated Tom doing this. He was super respectful AND made sure I had good information to help my kid. That's a hard balance to strike, and he did it perfectly. After building the board, Tom offered to teach my son the basics, and even invited him to come back that evening when some pro skateboarders would be coming by. Everyone was super chill and supportive. My kid learned how to get in and out of the bowl by himself, basic skate etiquette, and that evening really created an incredibly positive first experience with skateboarding that will last him a long time. Tom's whole demeanor is that of a long time teacher / mentor. He's easy to talk to (found out he took college level music classes from my mom back in the day!), he knows his stuff, and he's invested in the community. I would 100% go back for any other skateboard items we need!

Tom is the nicest guy and his passion for skateboarding makes buying a skateboard a fun experience. My son and I learned so much from our visit. I knew very little about skateboards before we went and as we left, I felt like I had a custom introduction to skateboards lesson - what great service! Tom gave us details on all the options so we really felt like we made educated choices. After we picked out all the parts, he showed my son how to assemble it. Learning by doing - my son loved learning how to build his board. I felt the value for the price was very reasonable, especially since it was a white-glove service! Tom was great to chat with and we will definitely shop here again.
