First: I want to say that every USPS employee with whom I have had contact has been friendly and professional. In the past, USPS delivery in our area (near the High School downtown) was phenomenal - absolutely beyond reproach. I absolutely understand that COVID and staffing issues have hurt our local USPS and made it difficult to maintain the level of service that we are accustomed to. I fear that there may be deeper issues affecting delivery at this time. We are now at a point where about 1 out of 5 packages has to be reordered because there is an issue with delivery. Sometimes the package is marked "delivered" but no package arrives; we have had the package arrive days later (placed on the ground under the mailbox) and we have had the package arrive a month later, without fanfare and without any updates to the tracking information that says it was delivered weeks earlier. In the most recent instance, I filed a complaint; when I spoke to our rep, I was told that nothing could be done as the package wasn't insured and that their GPS showed the package had been scanned at our mailbox. I ordered a replacement (which actually arrived). When the original package was actually delivered, I took it to the post office asking that they please return it to the sender as it was no longer needed. They refused. The delivery issues are costing money and time and it's all extremely frustrating. It is notable that these issues started when Louis DeJoy took over leadership of the USPS and started looking to cut costs. :( read more

Worst place to get your mail delivery to your house. We were having some much-missing mail. That I ended up complaining to the post office's head department. A couple of weeks ago our carrier marked that our house was vacant because we rejected some junk mail. I had to go to my bank to fix the problem because they sent a message to my bank that our house was vacant. The postmaster said he talked to our carrier so we could get our mail back. Then again we are starting to have missing mail problems. Mailman posted my husband's package was delivered and when I went to check, there was nothing in there. Please change this mail carrier. Extremely frustrated with this post office. Multiple times I've received notices claiming my mailbox was "too full" for package delivery when that simply was not true. My mailbox is on my property, accessible, and had plenty of room. Instead of delivering packages, they leave slips saying delivery was attempted and force me to drive out of my way to pick them up myself. It feels dishonest and incredibly inconvenient, especially when you're paying for a delivery service that isn't actually being completed. Customer service is nearly impossible to reach by phone, and there seems to be no accountability. This has happened more than once and has become a pattern. USPS seriously needs to address the reliability and service issues at the Sonora location. read more

We. In the Sonora area have one of the worst POs anywhere. Many missed deliveries, and lame excuses (no ownership). It is no wonder more and more people/institutions chose other means (eg fed ex and UPS). They are way more reliable. If I could give them a zero I would. They are LAZY and will not deliver packages. I lived in Oakdale down a 1 mile toad,half of it was dirt and they delivered packages. Also, staff is very unfriendly. If you are that miserable with your job quit!!! read more

The United States Postal Service SUCKS. Especially the Washington St. location. My son Nick lives out of town in San Antonio Tx. I mailed his Christmas presents to him on 12-18-23 speaking to the people behind the counter they said if I want to ensure it gets there before Christmas I should ship it Priorty mail $102.55 one of the more senior counter people said "probably be there Friday" they couldn't check because their system is down and I guess has been down for months so there's no way to predict when it will show up, so you have to ship it in hopes that it makes it on time. So I shipped it.... and would ya know it, NONE of it showed up on Friday and here we are 10 days later they're still missing a package. Why the hell did pay for the priorty shipping if it was going to be a week late??? So I went into the post office today and asked for a refund or a partial refund because the service that I paid for they did not deliver on. "They don't do that Sir, you can ask to speak to a manager but they're gonna say the same thing" Pissed, I walked out. What can I do, nothing! What happened to the Postal Service, they are now just a bunch of disgruntled employees that do not care one way or another if you're satisfied. No longer will I use USPS to ship anyting. UPS is fare more expensive but I'll bet you they would have delivered it on time. read more

They cannot even deliver a simple piece of mail. Everyday the tracking is changed yo a new excuse. Even at one point saying weather delay? What is it too sunny? Then saying no access to front door? Is tat because the door identifies as closed. as a 100% disabled Veteran I am amazed how horrible the service is. It seems our local Post Master either is unable to perform the duties or purposely is attempting to be fired to claim unemployment. I amazes me to no end. I'm extremely frustrated, as I have been out of town for a week and I have tried calling the post office daily at various hours with no success. I have no idea, but apparently my mail has been stopped, and everything is being returned to sender. This is not acceptable, and they should take all of these low rating reviews to heart and care about how inconsistent and inconvenient their services have been. Maybe it's time to look at new management as clearly the present one is not working out so well. I have experienced excessive inconvenience, as earlier this year a friend who was staying with me temporally went into the post office to have their mail stopped. They had no ID with this address, and they stupidly and neglectfully stopped all mail. I want to say I have never had a bad encounter with staff, they have all been friendly. BUT my package arrived there a week ago. I spent 15+ minutes in person yesterday hoping they'd find it. No luck. And was told a manager was supposed to be contacting me. Never got a call. I tried calling since I didn't receive a call, called the post office multiple times today for it just to ring numerous times then disconnect the call. Super frustrating. So I'm still without my package. Still no call from a manager. Guess I'll have to go in person again if I want any kind of update on my package that's been sitting there since last Monday. read more

HORRIBLE service. I've had my post office box for a couple weeks now, and at least four items of mail (including one package) has gone missing. The first one, which was an Amazon package, arrived two days before I inquired about where my package was. After speaking with them in person AND calling them, they found my package somewhere in the back, and I was told that someone "forgot" to put my yellow slip into my box so I could pick it up. I requested court paperwork from calaveras be sent to me, and never received that either. And this last time, my mom sent me a 6 page letter, which is now lost (irreplaceable). They also don't answer their phones. I am very angry about the lack of responsibility and professionalism on their behalf. Don't waste your money here. read more

Wow ! Just wow !!! Negative reviews one after another ! You would think that after all of them the postal service would do something about it !!! But from reading other reviews it is in just as bad of shape ! I was left a message to call back in regards to a claim I filled out online and have called approx 50 times and they only answered once and put me on hold for almost 10 minutes then I hung up. Have kept trying to call back and can't get an answer at all....the phone will ring 10 times then goes to a fast busy and the call is terminated. Does anyone have any suggestions ? This part of Sonora "Snell Street" has had the WORST mail delivery service I have ever received. Sometimes your mail doesn't get delivered until 8:15 to 8:45 PM. Nothing like being able to get timely responses out? I have informed delivery. It showed the time and date of delivery and the item was out for delivery. I was waiting at the door. Postal delivery didn't have it on the truck. I go into the informed delivery on the computer, oh now it will be delivered by 9:15 PM. Then a new message pops up showing delivery by the next day 07/15/21 by 8:15 PM. My friend was not amused. She sent this priority with tracking. For the last almost 3 years, this Post Office gives you excuses and no service. Maybe they should Train in Soulsbyville, CA. Soulsbyville has GREAT customer service, spot-on delivery, and knows what they are doing. Sonora needs a Leader and a delivery person that can read. I have returned an item to the carrier 3 times showing the person had moved over 3 years ago, I have asked them to forward it. I have asked them to deliver this item to the name on the address. Do you think that happened? NO, they have put it back in my mailbox 3 times. I told the carrier yesterday when I handed it to him for time #4, I had better not get this back again. The moral of the story, you want great service, go to Soulsbyville, Suzanne is the Best! Carlos has retired, but he trained the new carrier to perfection before his well-deserved retirement. I can't believe that this post office doesn't deliver your mail Monday-Saturday. I guess that old saying, "neither rain nor snow", etc will keep your mail from being delivered does not apply in Sonora. I own a print shop here in Sonora California and I never get my mail. I always get another business mail. Its very inconvenient and disappointing that this keeps happening. I have gone into the main office down town to complain and their response is " sorry we can't do anything about it, we are short handed and not enough people to help us." What the hell??? Who ever was delivering to goldmont Forrest on 12/10 needs to be fired! The mail truck pulled up to 4 mailboxes I heard 1 open and close and then they took off like it was a Nascar pit stop. I didn't think anything of it until I went to check my mail and to my surprise I have everyone's mail. To boot my deliveries the shifted to drive way unaccessible or something so now I'm stuck waiting longer for my Christmas presents and to top that it's now snowing so I'm sure I'm going to have to wait to go down to the post office to pick it up. I'm so mad I feel like I need to stand in front t of the mail truck and ask them are you sure? 100%? I've lived at the same address for 40 years and up until recently I've had nothing less than a perfect experience with USPS in Sonora. Recently, instead of delivering parcels larger than the box, I only receive the "sorry we missed you...." notice. Tracking often shows "delivery attempted"...simply not true. Notice also states "we'll redeliver for you... not true again. One slip actually stated that the delivery location was "over 1/2 mile from CMU"...once again, untrue. I totally understand how times have changed lately and with using independent contractors as carriers but it appears these contractors are able to make any excuse and avoid undesired deliveries. I feel USPS shouldn't accept contracts they can't follow through with, such as Amazon. I was, however, able to contact Amazon and have them change shipping preferences by moving USPS to the "bottom of the list". Thanks Amazon! Sad to say, but I'm afraid the old dependable USPS in Sonora is gone. read more

I understand how hard it must be for the post office during these trying times with Covid. However, on Saturday we got three other neighbors mail and did not get a package from Amazon or medication until days later when another neighbor delivered it. It almost scares me and makes me not want to use the Postal Service anymore. We get notifications when we are gone of mail that should be arriving but it doesn't always do so. I don't know if they are just shorthanded or what the problem is with the sorting. Our mail carrier is wonderful and I don't think the blame lies there. Any suggestions ? read more

Their supervisor Juanita is by far one of the rudest people. I had a very expensive package lost and damaged and she did everything in her power to not try and help me. I had to contact the Sheriffs department in order to get proof that my package was damaged because she absolutely refused to give me any proof. Whoever is in charge of running this office and its delivery system is incapable of doing their job and needs to be terminated! They NEVER answer the phone regarding your lost, undelivered or missing mail!!! After multiple rings it goes to a fax tone. For months, our mail and packages have been delivered or lost by untrained personal! If you have mail and more than one package some are delivered to your box, some to your door, incorrectly delivered to another address, and the rest is deemed undeliverable! How is it you can bring one package to the same door that you claim to have no access to? Then the package rots at your office, goes back to another location, or is returned to sender! The national 800 has been no help for just as long! 60 minute to 4 hour wait to speak with an agent then it dumps your call before you can talk to anyone! They never call you back if you use that option! The counter agents at the Sonora office are the only people who know how to do their jobs. Promote them and fire the rest! read more

I can't begin to explain how many time now they've "lost my mail." The most recent one was signed for by some random unknown person. Didn't even have a similar name to mine. Claim is still open. I've had packages delivered that were clearly ran over by a vehicle. I've filed complaints about a package that was marked "delivered" and when I called to ask about it, they told it it was delivered to "a building near your address." They said they tried to retrieve the pack from where they delivered it, but were told they hadn't received it. They refuse to comp me and refuse to answer my calls. I have also had neighbor's packages left on the far outer areas of my fence, that isn't near a house and not in view of anyone to see. Took two weeks to even find it there. read more

I was concerned about transferring my mail to our new address. I called and spoke with Dana who was exceptionally understanding and kind about some issues regarding harassing neighbors. She instructed me on how to put a stop to my mail coming to our box, recommended when to come in, and also gave me the option of picking up my mail until our change of address goes through (generally 10-14 days). I feel more secure about my situation. In addition, when I went into the post office the lady at the counter was very helpful and processed my request immediately and explained how they were going to secure our mail. I have never had a problem with any of the employees at the Sonora Post Office. Lastly, the people who find the employees rude or who are having bad time inside the Post Office are the ones with the crude/obnoxious attitude to begin with. Just Sayin'. read more

I have a monthly reoccurring order that gets messed up every single time. The Postal Carrier refuses to follow repeated instructions to simply deliver the package to our gate. They instead make excuses such as: "Mailbox Full" when it absolutely isn't and the package wouldn't even fit in the mailbox anyway! They'll leave the orange note in my mailbox asking for further instructions and then IGNORE them. They then somehow deem the package "Unable to be re-delivered" when I try to go online to schedule that. They never answer the phone when called at the office. What ends up happening, is that I'm usually then forced to have to come down to the post office myself in order to pick up the package-- which is a huge inconvenience for someone with disabilities. They also frequently mix up my mail with our neighbors. Quite frankly, I'm starting to wonder if it's intentional! I've been patient for a long time with this, but enough is enough!
