I've been to quite a few post offices in my days and this one seems to be the best! The staff is friendly and take care of all your postal needs quickly and efficiently. I had a pleasant experience with obtaining a passport here as well. The process seems lengthy but the associates give you everything you need to successfully obtain a passport. I didn't rush mine and received it in about 2 weeks. They even return your original birth certificate that you have to send them for review. I also appreciate the convenience of a 24hr self service shipping center. Send misc packages, maybe something you sold on ebay 24 hrs a day! read more

This post office sucks, period. In the last 10 years, I don't think there's been a single time I've ever gone in there and the line hasn't been 10 to 20 deep. There's always only one person working even though they have three registers available. Unlike every other post office in the US that has a designated space for pre-postage drop offs. This one has a sign on the counter that stating that you cannot. I'm a small business owner, I don't need to stand in line for 45 minutes during my lunch just to drop off a package that I already did all of the work on. read more

Customer service is never great whenever I try to resolve issues. I've had packages arrive in poor condition and I can never get answers.

I supposed to get my package delivered on Tuesday January 7 at 1:33pm but I did not get it on my mailbox even that tracking number said that it was delivered. I was at home at the time of the mailman dropped the mail the day. I stopped at the post office and spoke to the Supervisor but he didn't help at all, even after I explained him that I was at home at the time when my mail was delivered. He was saying that someone else got my package I told him that it can be possible because I picked the mail as soon the mailman left . The worst part it was when he asked me if the mailman was "black " or " white". Instead of trying to help me to figure it out what happened with my package. read more

Today I received a text message from the Post Office. It said I an attempt at delivery had been made to my house this am; and that I must pay an additional $3.50 for a second delivery attempt. That had me steamed because I was home all morning and no attempt had been made. So I called our local post office here in Gurnee. I spoke to Stephanie. She took all the information re: address, tracking number etc. to her supervisor. She returned with the information that this was a scam. Then we reviewed the message I had received and I realized that the wording was not the usual business wording that I expect from the government. And we reviewed the email name was not correct: https://reapply-usps.com. If Stephanie had been less diligent, or less careful, I would have been scammed. Finally, I have gone to this post office for many years. I have always had good service, and the clerks have been always helpful, and almost always very polite. read more

This location screwed me over with two important and expensive deliveries because their carrier(s) was too lazy to take a package from their truck and put it on the shuttle to the Ingleside Post Office. This post office is my favorite! Every time I come here I feel like I go back in time where the postman knew you and your family by name. When my kids aren't with they always ask how they're doing. I've seen some of them most unnecessarily rude people come in and treat the staff like they're just lowly servants and the employees still are patient and don't complain to the next customer in line. This is one of the worst post offices in the Chicagoland area. Employees are routinely rude and unprofessional, put in requests for pickups and they never come. Post office charges extra fees when weights aren't right, this is understandable but not for every once of mail to charge. read more

I will start this review by saying that I don't normally have issues with any establishment to the point of writing a review. At this point I was so upset that I downloaded the yelp app just to write this review. I had to send a watch in for repair, and I had a printed (pre-paid) label for first class postage. I knew I had to buy a box for it, so I did. So I took my box to the counter with my label and was asked what I wanted to do with it. At this point I was confused. The counter person proceeded to tell me she didn't know what to do with the label because she didn't have tape. What????? There was tape sitting right next to her. At this point she said that if I wanted to tape the label to the package that I would have to buy tape!!!! Buy tape!??? A whole roll of packaging tape for one label? That was a little much to ask. When I asked of any way she could help, she told me that was my only option. I kept my composure and asked again if she had anything that could help me, as I also had my 17 month old on my arm. She handed me a one side sticky label holder that could have worked, however the part that held the label was cut down the middle so you could put the label into it, but another problem-the label could fall out cause it didn't seal!!! So at this point I asked her how is this going to help if my label could fall out? And she just shrugged her shoulders and looked at me. At this point I knew that she didn't want to help. So I walked out and still haven't sent my package. When I left I was so upset that I called the supervisor and was the same amount of helpful---not at all. She said that that's the way it is. I was at a loss for words!!! Where is the customer service??!!!! Maybe it just a typical government office, I am just upset that I feel like they go out of Their way to not help their customers. I have never had a problem with this place, but I guess it only takes a few lazy people to ruin an establishments reputation. I will now drive to grayslake to send my packages cause. read more

Okay... so this is a Post Office... a regular, simple, post office, so why four stars you may ask? Simple. It's the people who work here. Granted, in most post offices, the people are generally pretty friendly, but here, I really like their customer service. A good example is I went in here one day to ship off some items and picked out a box, but one the staff saw the box I was selecting which prompted her to come around, show me an alternate, which was really one of those envelop type and the items fit in there nicely. She then proceeded to pack it for me, saw that I had the address written down, took that and made an electronic address sticker, sealed it up and gave several options on shipment and gave a recommendation considering it was going to a somewhat rural area. I was in and out of there within 4 minutes flat! Great Service! read more

I realize that the USPS is understaffed, as well as overwhelmed, due to Covid; however, in the past 2 weeks, one of my packages was redirected from Round Lake Distribution Center to Lake Villa back to Palatine (Regional Center) back to Round Lake before it was correctly delivered to Fox Lake. No apology. I only found out by looking at the tracking history that it was 'incorrectly sorted.' Now, by looking at the tracking history of a second package, I find that is was received at the Round Lake Distribution Center on Dec 15, accepted there after 4 days of just sitting there, and now it states the package arrived (an hour later) at the Chicago IL Network Distribution Center (wherever that is) on Dec 19. Unacceptable. It took 2 days for UPS to carry it from OH to IL USPS, but 5 days after that, I still haven't received it...it is now in Forest Park. read more

I have a simple question I'm not sure why I even have to ask the question. I understand postal delivery can be stressful and I have the utmost respect for all the ladies and gentleman that make sure we get are mail in a timely manner. However why are boxes that do not fit properly pushed into the small area? Today it took 15 minutes to cut the box out of the mail box prior to cutting it out I attempted every which way to get it out cutting my hand and two fingers blood was dripping down my hand while I cut the box out. This mean during the 15 minutes I was injured I was forced to go into my home to get a knife so I could cut the box out. Is this right? is this really what a 60 year old woman has to go through just to get her mail? This is a very busy post office, but their employees are always patient, professional and helpful. They don't seem to always have enough people available to work at the counter, but that is certainly not fault of the ones who are. You sometimes have to wait in line, but you can be assured that they will also spend as much time as necessary with you. read more

Always very busy and very slow. Trying to get a package that they refused to deliver the previous day because they tried to deliver it at 8:30am and the leasing office where I live doesn't open until 10. Then I put in a redelivery request but no one could confirm when it was arriving so I had to drive to the post office to see if they could find it or if it did indeed go out on the truck today - hopefully it did. They stated it may come tomorrow at the latest which is unacceptable for a two day delivery and doesn't work for me. Should've done ground and would have arrived the same time! read more

I put a hold on my mail for the last 2 weeks in October at Ingleside post office. When I returned to Ingleside post office to retrieve my mail Nov 3, they had none and told me it would be at Round Lake PO. The clerk called over there and they didn't have it. I was furious and was told the "boss" would give me a call which he did. He spoke with the "boss" in Round Lake who again said they did not have my mail!! I lost a replacement credit card and important life insurance papers in that lost lot. Fast forward to yesterday when I received my pile of missing mail with a copy of my hold mail order which included a nasty note "customer never picked up mail!!!!!" and a bunch of other notations by these idiots who do not know what they are doing.....blaming the customer!!! And note, this is the SECOND time this has happened to me....the first time I NEVER received my missing mail!!!! In the future, I will pay a neighbor to retrieve my mail!!!!! read more

Most of the employees are rude. You ask a simple question and they answer you in the rudest way possible, like you should understand how everything works there as if you yourself are an employee. I will pay extra for shipping with UPS and FEDEX just to insure my parcels don't have to be handled by USPS. Most of the time our delivery driver doesn't even ring our bell, she just puts a notice in our mailbox and leaves. There is a very good reason that this location is ranked and considered as one of the worst Post Offices in the county. Quite simply, it's terrible. Excessive waits and poor customer service are well documented yet there seems to be little desire to improve the quality of service at this location. Would love to see more people at the front desk (1 or 2 during peak times is simply not enough). And being able to speak and communicate in English would also be helpful.
