It's a government operation! I think it's going to always be that way! One month they sent my check to my bank 3 weeks late. What a mess!

I always have a good experience with the Waukegan location. Never a long wait, the staff is nice, and no long wait times on the phone

Excellent! I had my paperwork ready, walked in with no appointment and out in approximately 10 minutes with a name change complete.

We were at Waukegan office 1/28/25 and Mr Leneau resolved our problem expeditiously, with courtesy, professionalism and knowledge.

I would like to share my experience at the DMV today, August 10th, around 4:00 PM, because I…read morebelieve there is a need for better communication and customer service among the staff. My boyfriend went to the DMV because the license plates for a vehicle he purchased in April were never delivered. He went without an appointment because the DMV website indicated that an appointment was not required for the service he needed. When he arrived, a female employee with red, shoulder-length, wavy hair told him that he needed an appointment and that they did not accept Illinois paperwork. Based on this information, we returned to the dealership where the vehicle was purchased, only to be told that we needed to go back to the DMV. The lady at the DMV also gave us a card that said no appointments required and plates never being received was one of the things listed. We then contacted customer service by phone, and the representative we spoke with confirmed that the DMV was, in fact, the appropriate place to resolve the issue and assisted us with understanding what needed to be done. We drove back to the DMV, where my boyfriend was assisted by a different employee. The second employee was helpful, understood the situation, and was able to resolve everything within approximately 10 minutes. I understand that mistakes can happen, but the conflicting information we received from the first employee resulted in an unnecessary trip and wasted time. It was especially frustrating because another employee was able to assist us immediately and resolve the issue without any problems. I hope management can address this situation and ensure that employees are properly trained on the services they provide and the documentation they accept. Customers should be given accurate information the first time so they are not unnecessarily sent elsewhere.

My wife and I have a car titled in her name. Went to this DMV to transfer vehicle to my name…read more Simple enough? Oh no! Form for transfer was unclear and required corrections and failed to mention associated fee. In addition one fee required a personal check or money order. With other fees a credit card will due. As we did not have a check for the fee we had to abort the transfer ( after having waited some time to see an agent ). What an unnecessarily frustrating experience. Going to the DMV is another version of hell.

Remember those days back when a friend of yours would find out about some party or something…read moresomewhere far off away, and your only response\ question was "will there be beer\chicks there?"? My trip to Lake Co corrections facility started out that very same way. An Innocent trip out to northern 'burbs for some good ol' drinking and maybe some highly illicit narcotics. Everything at said party was fine until the cops showed up and some jack hole opened the door for them. Seems the fine police dept. of Crystal Lake doesn't like it when there is underage drinking, drug dealing, and or loud music. Since someone let them in it gave them the ability to search everyone in the house and property. Bad for me. I was caught with a beer in my hand and what I refer to as my "Saturday night special" in my pocket. Bad for me. Good for the god fearing folk of Crystal Lake. Within minutes many of us where whisked away to Lake Co. Jail at around 3 a.m. I found Lake Jail to be fairly easy going. Actually it was fairly modern compared to Kane Co. Your finger prints were taken electronically and put into a national data base instantly. All doors were controlled electronically also. Even their construction seemed to be a little ahead of the times although the good old toilet\ sink combo never seems to get old in these places We were processed through in half time it take in Cook Co. Although there were 3\4 less people than usually processed through Cook in a given day. They gave us breakfast while in holding that was not that bad( they even had real eggs, and orange juice). Then at a little after 9 a.m. I stood before the judge whom released me on my own recognisance. Then the trip to get back home once again. Lucky for me the Metra train back to the city is only like a half mile from the court house. Unluckily for me all my money had been confiscated by the sheriff as evidence. The train conductor let me ride for free, and I walked back home from down town. Lesson learned: Never go to a party with abunch of narcotics on your person. Employers tend to shy away from those with" distribution of narcotics" on their record. Then again many don't.

I have been trying to file for an Order of Protection for over two months, and the experience has…read morebeen incredibly frustrating and discouraging. Every person I speak to gives me different instructions. I've been told to file online, come in person, call one number, then another, and I've been sent from office to office with no clear direction. I filed online as instructed and was told I would receive a court date by mail. Two months later, I have received nothing. I've called multiple times, left voicemails, sent emails, and followed up repeatedly without getting a response or any meaningful assistance. I have explained that I am genuinely concerned for my safety, yet I feel like no one wants to take responsibility for helping me. I've been to two police departments and two sheriff's offices, and each one has referred me somewhere else. It feels like I'm stuck in an endless loop while trying to access a process that is supposed to exist to protect people. I'm not writing this because I expect special treatment. I simply want someone to explain the correct process and help me move forward. When someone reaches out because they don't feel safe, they shouldn't have to spend months being ignored or bounced between agencies. The lack of communication and accountability has left me feeling abandoned by the very system that is supposed to help.

I love this library especially during the summer time when they have the free concerts on Fridays…read more The staff there is really friendly and if they don't have a certain book they will do a interlibrary loan for you. The library is kept clean and santized. The remodels they have done make this my go to library. If you have children the children's area sponsored by Northshore is amazing. They change the theme of it and when I take my niece and nephew they have a blast with all the educational toys they have in there. The library is no longer just a boring place to them.

I moved down here again from Virginia and needed to print something out. They have guest tickets…read morewhere you can use the computer without a library card. Paying for print is cheap, which is a plus. If you are living in a hotel, like my partner and I, you can get a temporary library card. The staff is super helpful as I was having trouble with the payment process since it is new to me. I love how clean it is, however, the noise is not for the noise-sensitive. I know they can't control it, but that is one downside. It is clean and well-kept. I went in to get something printed and went out with my item that was printed, a temporary library card, a movie, and a book. I love this library already as it was my first visit and I will keep coming here. I didn't expect much from this place, but they have exceeded my expectations.
