So they don't even deserve that! Firstly, As a civilian who visits a loved one who is incarcerated at this institution- I would like to give credit to the sensible correctional officers that are pleasant to engage with.. And they are very FEW and FAR in between!! The other 95% of the COs treat the family members like shit and I can only imagine how they treat the inmates! They have the most vile attitudes and slick mouths, screaming "I abuse my authority". The environment is not helpful for a person who is trying to change their lives for the better and it's not the inmates making it hard for each other (most of the time), it's actually the correctional officers and that is twisted! The dirty cops you see in the movies, they actually exist and work there at RCI. When you call on the phone, you get attitude from the departments that have COs answering AND anyone outside of that department are not answering the phone and they don't return phone calls! No one takes initiative to help resolve an issue, they give you the runaround with their incompetence. If you're an inmate and you want to enroll in a school program, GOOD LUCK getting in contact with the director of education! If you're a loved one looking to speak with their counselor, GOOD LUCK with that too. They never answer and they never call back! I do not recommend ANY inmates to transfer to RCI if they have a choice. Highly recommended that the warden clean house and rehire

It's stocked with books, magazines, and newspapers on virtually any subject. Best of all, they are completely free, which is all too often forgot. Internet access is also available for free in timed increments. An important note: They do carry some text books, so check here first before paying an absurd amount for a book that you'll only use for a few weeks and save some cash at the same time. Maybe then you can get that pizza instead of Ramen Noodles again.

The line, if there ever is one, is rarely more than two. Things move quickly, but you don't feel rushed. The postal people offer advice on best package rates, and arrival dates. They are very accommodating when I can't decide which new stamp style I want to buy, and show me everyone i ask about. The downtown post office is a little bit closer to my location, but I really do prefer Somers Post Office.

I have to pay for a product I never received and according to tracking USPS you have possession of it. No other resolution? You lost it. You pay for it. The Pritzker Military Museum is a collection of artifacts from various soldiers and wars. Has artifacts such as medals. You can also use the library if you're a military personnel. Because the museum is pretty small, it won't take most people long to see everything here. It has a pretty simple layout. This is located on the second floor of a building at Michigan and Monroe. It's a $10 admission without any discounts. There's discounts for active military, students, and others. It's a small museum so also think if it as a donation. There's lots of photographs but also artifacts such as medals and uniforms. A few exhibits on POWs including one about the Hanoi Hilton. There's lots to read up on if you're interested in this kind of stuff. Check it out if you're interested in military history. It also has a library if you do research. There's also various events, programs, and other things.

Unfortunately for me that was the best part of the experience. We happened to arrive on memorial day weekend when they were having a special ceremony. Despite looking at their website it was unclear that their hours were different. They didn't open at 10am but at noon when their special program began. We killed 40 mins thinking that at noon we could get into the building but no we had to wait through the fortunately short ceremony (which was hard to hear due to a poor PA setup). It was free on this day so not sure the regular price but thank goodness because this place was not what we expected. It wasn't really war memorabilia but some exhibits telling stories of some soldiers. Don't get me wrong the exhibit about the chaplain and his collection of glass from damaged European churches during WWII was well done but that was most of what was on display. We spent maybe 30 minutes or so here. I do support the founder Jennifer Pritzker in her stance that she isn't going to let any government officials dictate the stories being told. A benefit of this being a privately funded museum. Nonetheless very underwhelming.
