Cindy the event coordinator that started in January 2016 was great! We were disappointed that one of our vendors told us about the staff change at the Kemper Center and that Allison was no longer there as of November 2015. As the bride, I did not hear directly from anyone at the Kemper Center about the staff change. As a professional courtesy, at the very least they would reach out to their clients that have events booked when there is a staff change, but they didn't. Lucky for the "powers that be" Cindy is wonderful and wow'd us! She is super friendly and knowledgeable about weddings and events and all around great to work with. From the first phone call to the goodbye hug at 11:45pm on the night of our reception Cindy was so helpful, professional, accommodating and amazing. She went above and beyond with helping us with the plans for our reception. Cindy explained everything and made sure we understood all our options for drinks and liquor services. The day/night of the event the entire staff was incredible and the venue was clean and perfectly set up! The staff was super efficient and effective! The AC was cranking out and everyone had an amazing time!! The entire staff at the Kemper Center was amazing as well. James was particularly helpful and definitely provided extraordinary customer service at the reception. He went above and beyond in terms of service and all around was simply great! The grounds were lovely and it was a picture perfect day to take lots of photos. We loved every moment. The only slight disappointment was the fountain was not on so we didn't take any pictures around it otherwise it was a splendid day that we will cherish for many years to come!!!

When it came to the event the hosts were extremely kind and so helpful when needed. They are quite pricey, but worth it. They were accommodating when and where possible. I drove in to drop off my mail and when I went to check in on Yelp the location didn't even exist. Now I know why no one was here because if its not on Yelp, then it doesn't exist. So look out US Postal workers because you've been listed and the Yelpers are coming. We're also gonna ask you to weigh packages. Ha! This place was completely empty. I can't stand going to Chicago post offices anymore because it usually takes 45 minutes to get in and out. So it would be worth it for me to drive here and back to Chicago in order to mail my packages. I found it funny that it closes at 4:30pm on Mon to Fri but my mail is picked up at 5pm inside. Is there a party going on for that half hour? How do I get in to the locked building to drop off my mail, after 4:30? Why wouldn't they just list mail pick up at 4:30pm? See these are questions Yelpers need the answer to. Well welcome to the world of social media US Post Office location. I had a reason to visit a social security office this past week. Not knowing much how they work, I…read morechecked out their website then called customer service to schedule a meeting. Apparently, it's hard to find social security administration offices with open appointment times. But, although a distance from my home, they were able to find an appointment a week out in their Wilmette office. As most government buildings are, this is an older location in need of a facelift. When we walked inside, the place was packed. I said to the person I was there with, "I'm glad we have an appointment." The security guard handed me a number and immediately the number one less than mine was called. He laughed and said all of the people there were ahead of me, and they don't call numbers in order. Before I sat down, our number was called next. We went to the window and the agent knew what we needed since we had an appointment. (I guess the crowd waiting didn't have appointments.) The transaction took less than five minutes and we were done. So, aside from the aesthetics, this trip was quick and productive. The rep helped us quickly and did a good job. I strongly suggest that, if you need to go to a Social Security office, you call their service number to make an appointment.

The website tells me that i need an appointment, but it takes me through endless circles about eligibility, but never gives me an option to pick a time for an appointment. I called two numbers to try to set up an appointment over the phone, but get the same circular prompts without a result. The shield they put to avoid having to speak to them is incredible. I have no choice but to show up without an appointment and doubtless waste additional hours waiting in line before I can present two simple documents, which likely will take two minutes to process.

I specifically chose this property because of its proximity to the starting line of a race I was traveling for. With such short notice, there were no comparable options left nearby, and I ultimately had to cancel the trip altogether. While my money was refunded, there was no apology, no explanation, and no effort to offer any accommodation or alternative solution. Canceling a confirmed reservation at the last minute can seriously disrupt travel plans, and that's exactly what happened here. Very disappointing experience.

There were items left from previous guess under the bed and the counters, or desk weren't wiped down, the little mini lotions in the bathroom were open and had dried suds like it was left from the last guess. Our second stay we checked in at night so didn't really see much until the next morning, the room again was not clean properly. There was also a major ant issue. We were on the 4th floor and the ant were everywhere. Crawling on our beds, floor,desk,bathroom,closet EVERYWHERE. We spoke with the front desk to change our room and they said they didn't have any rooms available but would come and clean the room and replace our sheets. The young girl from the desk came and vacuumed and sprayed the front of the floor. She said the manager would be her in the morning and would refund,discount, or provide a voucher for our stay. We couldn't leave hotel it would've been even more inconvenient especially with children. The next morning comes, manager isn't here and were told because we booked through a 3rd party app there is nothing they can do and offered us a snack from the snack shop or free breakfast item?! Really?! I really didn't want to leave this review I'd hope this would have been resolved properly. We learned that they knew about the ant issue but still decided to rent out the room. For the price you pay to stay here the cleaning is unacceptable and the skills to resolve any concerns are lacking.

This is a little known area of the world that can easily slip into obscurity, but there is more…read morehere than meets the eye. Yes - it is, in part, nothing more than a typical northern-mid-western county with a central town (Kenosha) that sits alone in the vast northern stretch of farmlands and woods. But Kenosha is so much more - because of the Italian Mob - the great expansion into the north-woods, - and the NAZI's. Kenosha was once the northern enclave of Al Capone's mafia empire. Dozens of high level mobsters moved here and set up brothels, and gambling halls. It was like the Hampton's of Chicago - wealth - fun - drugs - sex - and booze. Kenosha was also once a center for German Nationalist sympathizers - before WW2 - when American Germans had had the right and even the duty to support their father-land. Of course, this led to huge groups of pro-NAZI activists as Hitler rose to power. And one can still see it in the the many groups of WW2 re-in-actors here, or even the shops that buy and sell NAZI "memorabilia", both within Kenosha and without. But mostly Kenosha is the quintessential modern Wisconsin village, based on farming and industry. Come here to see the lake - enjoy the German food - visit the various festivals nearby - drink Wisconsin beers - go to Mar's Cheese Castle - and play mini-golf. This is "non-Southern", "non-redneck" "white America" at its purest. And don't forget the Bristol Renaissance Faire every summer. Or the many Harley Davidson events. Again - this is a real part of America at its least mingled.

In downtown Chicago this process would take me 45 minutes...in Kenosha I'm out the door in 4.5 seconds. If you are going to pay your property taxes the counter is located directly to the left of the door. I remember years ago I walked past the counter and became the lost guy wandering around the building! Today I saw a lady walk in with her payment and do exactly what I did years ago! She recovered quickly because the staff put up a huge neon pink 8.5 x 11 sign that said, "Pay Taxes Here!" I needed that sign years ago. As you are leaving I highly recommend you check out the museum pieces located on the South side of the door. Great pieces of history in Kenosha: an ice cutter from the lakes and one of the first road pavers. It is great to see how far technology has come.

The Foghorn Museum onsite is very interesting with local history and includes a display on a former Racine native who was an astronaut. The Lake Geneva Public Library offers some truly wonderful programming for families, especially for…read moreyoung kids. Their summer reading program is a big hit in our household--engaging, well-organized, and complete with great prizes. We also really appreciate the Pasie's Preschool Play program, which provides fun, thoughtful activities for toddlers every week. The children's section has a unique and well-curated selection of books, including titles from local authors, which is a nice touch. And the library pop-up at the YMCA is super convenient--we're big fans of that outreach effort! That said, parking is a real drawback. On most visits, we end up walking 4-5 blocks just to get there. On rainy days, its impossible to arrive dry with a stroller and two kids. The building itself is historic and charming, but the space is cramped, especially when kids' programs are in full swing. Still, despite the logistical challenges, the quality of the programming and staff makes this a great community resource--especially for families with young readers.

What a stunning library!…read more Our beach trip to Lake Geneva was mostly rainy. We walked around downtown area to eat lunch. On the way back to our hotel, we popped in here just to dry off and look at the beautiful building. The building is stunning, and the landscaping is lovely. Inside is great as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. The kids section is great. We were lucky and there was a reptile presentation while we were there, which was awesome. They clearly put on good programming.
