    Wind Point Lighthouse, Racine

Yes, please. After stopping to see the two lighthouses in Racine, this was a very pleasant visit though it was with the last light of the day. Still, the Wind Point LIghthouse was worth the visit. 108 feet tall, it is one of the tallest and oldest lighthouses on the Great Lakes. It remains an active navigational aid though ownership of the property is now held by the Village of Wind Point. Free to visit the property, plenty of parking, a fantastic view and some true history here. [Review 20660 overall - 230 in Wisconsin - 1641 of 2023.]

    No headless parking. Got it.

It's a lighthouse! It's cool to walk around the property and look at the lighthouse and the water that the lighthouse used to light! Parking was pretty nice. The grounds are well kept. I don't think I can think of one negative of our 10 minutes that we spent at this very fine lighthouse. I did enjoy taking a few pictures too!

After reading the reviews, I knew I had to checkout the lighthouse area. Great place to relax and reflect.

I happened upon this adorable area one afternoon. At first I was confused. I saw a police station, a courthouse and a party room for rent. All, at the entrance to what looks like a tiny park. I later found out that Wind Point is a village and their lighthouse is their signature focal point. Gorgeous homes, golf course and the lakefront location gave me dreams of moving there... It was a lovely afternoon, so a friend and I took a stroll around. The grand lighthouse is huge and impressive with quiet elegance. The vintage buildings add a touch of whimsey. There are park benches to sit and enjoy beautiful view of Lake Michigan. The memorial bricks are a sweet touch. There are grassy areas to walk around or spread out from others. This small area did not feel crowded even though there were quite a few visitors. Visiting from Chicago, this quaint village and all it has to offer, feels so sweet and innocent. I will visit again on my next trip anywhere near the area.

This was a very nice stop near Racine. The lighthouse is in very good shape with pretty views of Lake Michigan. Nice benches and paved walkways on the grounds.

Very pretty! The grounds are smaller then I thought but still worth the visit! We were the only ones there. Which was great since we wanted to take photos. We visited about 11:30 am on a Monday.

A relative took me to this peaceful lighthouse on a very cold (12 degree) day in February, and I enjoyed it very much! Since it was so cold, most of the time we stayed in the car in the large parking lot right next to Lake Michigan. The snow and ice added to the beautiful scenery. From their website, it looks like they allow people to go inside and climb the tower a few days each year. For warmer months, there are outside restrooms, a beach area, and gardens. Very relaxing place!

Very cool old lighthouse. If your in Racine it's a must see. We were passing through and stopped to check it out, glad we did.

Kudos to however this library is being funded. 2) The books are taken care of. They don't look like they've been sitting untouched for decades. They look clean and in good condition. 3) Checkout is a breeze. You can be checked out or you can enjoy self checkout by scanning your card at a separate kiosk type deal near the counter. 4) You don't have to visit the library to checkout books! The Racine Public Library has an online checkout process that allows us to checkout electronic copies of popular books and read them on our devices. 5) You don't have to visit the library to return books you checked out at the library. There are drop boxes around the city where you can return books although it seems like they move from time to time. I thought there used to be one by Kohl's Food. I also thought there used to be one near Starbuck by the post office. Recently though, I found it at Lockwood Park on Ohio. All more convenient than going downtown to return books. 6) This library partners with other area libraries so you aren't limited to what is in the Racine location. 7) Location, location, location! It's so nice to have that whole wall of sunshine while shopping for books. This library is a very welcoming environment where you want to sit and read or research for a while. If you sit near the lake, it's a beautiful view you simply cannot beat.
