Tricky us in the lobby of the post office

I have an online store so I mail a lot of packages and this particular post office is always crowded, especially the last hour of the day right before closing and they alway only have one lonely teller to service everyone waiting on an extremely long line. There's usually a lady that works from a side window servicing people picking up and dropping off packages who don't need a receipt. The only problem with this is sometimes rude people will surpass the line and go straight to the window and bypass all of the people who have been waiting patiently for her to request them over to come her window. Get more workers, make a sign or an announcement... Do better USPS!

This is a full service post office, clean facilities, but never adequately staffed. It is not a rare occurrence to be greeted with lines spilling into the lobby. I have been going to this branch regularly for enough time to know that your experience largely depends on which clerk assists you. As a customer, you won't know which options are most cost efficient and the service schedule provided. Some representative seem annoyed that you don't simply take the first one offered. They maybe overworked but there are two clerks at this branch who are regularly irritable, and there are two who could not be more helpful and pleasant. I will leave you to learn who is who on your own. Hint: I haven't seen the pleasant, helpful female clerk in awhile. She may have been transferred. If you come in the mid morning you will have the shortest wait time, but come during lunch or late afternoon at your own peril. I rented a PO Box here, and that part of the office is available 24 hours to POB renters. It is also well lit and clean. Parking is never an issue either. My issues are that they initially gave me the wrong key to my POB and provided no notification when my POB lease was up. When at all possible I utilize the Self Service Options, another branch or just go to UPS. The Location in Downtown Concord and many Charlotte and Kannapolis are much better run.

The wait is pretty damn sucky if you haven't pre-booked an appointment. Some people wait for 4…read morehours before they're seen. Literally. The attendants are a little rude and don't provide the best customer service (that is, until you're seated to be seen and then they're all pleasant. SO... Here are some tips to help make your time at this passport office easier. 1) Make sure you go around to the actual passport office and you aren't waiting in the general US post office in front. 2) MOST IMPORTANTLY: book an appointment. book an appointment. just do it. You will literally cut hours off of your wait time and you'll thank yourself for planning ahead. I'll say it again...book an appointment. YOU WILL REGRET NOT DOING SO. 3) Try not to go on a Saturday. even if you arrive at 9am bright and early you'll leave by 2pm if you don't have an appointment. 4) Bring a book or toys if you have children because the use of cellphones, tablets and laptops are strictly prohibited. Having something to keep your hands busy will make the time go buy quicker. 5) Eat breakfast or a snack before you come (food and drinks are prohibited inside the building) 6) Pre-fill out your DS-11 or D6-82 you'll wait in line just for them to send you to desks to complete it and get back in line. Don't do this to yourself! 7) Make sure you have your proof of citizenship and of identity. If you're bringing your birth certificate make sure it's the ORIGINAL copy. You can make photocopies of these (front and back) if you'd like but they'll do it for you rather quickly at this particular center so it doesn't make much of a difference if it's a hassle for you to get to a printer. 8) Take your pics ahead of time at a local Rite Aid, Walgreens or CVS. You can do it at this office too very quickly (like in under 2 minutes) BUT it typically costs $8 at a drug store and it's $15 here. Also, this way you can do your make up and hair under your own terms in stead of having to be presentable after waiting hours in line. (this isn't a must it's just a nice thing to be a little more prepared) 9) If you're not a fan of small kids bring some earplugs, noise canceling headphones and hand sanitizer. Kids are cute, don't get me wrong. BUT many starter families and people with small children come to the passport office because kids under 16 can't just mail in their forms for their first passport. They need to go to an office in person. So expect it to be filled with at least 10 children (some of which who have been waiting for an hour or two without food, a nap or proper stimulation). 10) Finally just try to have fun! If you have kids play some quiet games with them. If you have a loved one plan your next trip. If you're alone turn to the person next to you and joke about the wait! Seriously this is a typical convo and there's a level of camaraderie in the fact that everyone else wants to go home just as bad as you do!

This is my go-to local post office, and for everyday mailing needs, it really checks all the boxes…read more Parking is easy, the location is convenient, and the facility feels clean, well-lit, and safe--which matters when you're running errands on a tight schedule. One of the biggest highlights for me is the self-service postal kiosk (that do-it-yourself machine that weighs your package, calculates the postage, and prints the label right there). It's incredibly easy to use and, best of all, it lets you skip standing in line like cattle. That alone makes this location worth visiting. They also have drive-through mailboxes, which is another huge convenience. You can drop off letters without even getting out of your car--perfect for quick stops when you're on the go. On the occasions when I've needed full-service help--like sending certified mail--the wait hasn't been bad, and the staff has been friendly and helpful. That makes a difference. My one wish: It would be great if they added another self-service option to purchase Forever stamps without having to stand in line. That would make this place just about perfect. Bottom line: Convenient, efficient, and staffed by friendly people. If you're looking for a reliable neighborhood post office with easy parking and modern self-service options, this is a solid choice.

I run a small business and ship all my items with stamps to save shipping costs. Both times all I needed were stamps and both times the employees were so snarky to me for no reason. I asked if they could weigh the envelope and let me know if it was too heavy for one stamp to which the lady behind the counter thought it was a good idea to just bend the envelope completely?? She snarled something about it needing a special stamp. A few people have told me before that because the envelopes aren't completely flat, they would recommend a special stamp, but I haven't run into any issues shipping the way I do. I repeated my original question about the weight and she just handed the envelope back to me without weighing it. So yeah i'm not coming back here again! I just moved to CLT too..talk about a warm welcome.
