070920 I bought a used 2011 Genie boomlift, Z-45/25J-IC, for $27k. I was assured they would look it over and fix things that needed fixing. Before I paid for it, they did agree to replace the decal on the platform control panel. The propane tank was missing and they replaced it. They delivered it from Show Low to my ranch in Payson, it had 2858 hrs on it.
Within the first hour of use, I had no ability to drive or steer it. They made promises of technical assistance, a Service tech will call you, we'll sent a shop truck by and fix it . . . blah, blah, blah.
I ended up replacing the drive and steer joystick for $323 (1). The drive enable RED light on the platform control panel was burnt out and the lens was broken (2). The RED oil pressure light in the ground control box was broken and didn't work ($58) (3). I replaced the Check engine light (4) and found a lean code, then found and replaced a bad vacuum cap on the intake manifold (5). I replaced a $326 hose from the new (empty) propane tank to the intake manifold on the engine (6).
They could not tell me if the tires had foam or sealer. I was told to take the valve stem out and see what comes out. All of the tires inflation varied by 25 lbs. Last, more than a third of the safety stickers were white with no writing. According to the sticker, the last oil charge was done at 2139 hrs, some 720 hrs ago.
In the first five hours of operation, I spent $707 to fix major issues. When I brought all of this to their attention, I was told, "good thing we gave you that last discount!" I won't be back. read more
