Sam (salesperson) is manipulative, a scammer and a liar. I contracted for granite countertops. The first negotiation went fine. The person who came out and measured told me that I didn't need supports for an additional extention of about 2". in the office Sam said I had to have two supports and they were $500 a piece. I didn't need them and that was a terribly inflated price. Then came the addition of a plumber. I think this should have been covered under the install. I paid him $600 to have a licensed plumber come and unhook sink and stove and then return and turn them back on later in the day. The plumber didn't show up to unhook sink and stove. So the installers had to do that. They weren't happy with that responsibility. A little while later Sam, the scammer showed up. He came to get payment for the plumber- in CASH! When he saw that I had a gas stove, he said "That's not plumbing, you should have told me." I said "of course it is, and you do installs, it was your job to ask." I said, "Since he didn't show up to unhook, I'll only pay you half." He said "Oh no, you are paying me for the job and they did it.". Then he said "Because it's a gas stove, it's $700." I said then just leave it and cancel the plumber. I don't care if it takes weeks before I can get a plumber to hook it back up. I am so done with you. A little while later he said "How about $650." All I wanted was him gone at that point. I finally agreed to get it over with. As the installers were leaving I told them I hoped they would get payment for stove and sink. They said they wouldn't. Sam is not a good person. I would not recommend him at all. Buyer beware! read more

I stopped by United Granite for a quote on a countertop for my kitchen renovation. I didn't select this company to install the Quartz countertop I wanted. But I had a great experience with Hien Tran, a design consultant. He walked me through the store to view the Calacatta Bravo and Calacatta Miraggio. I was initially interested in the Calacatta Luccia, a higher price point. I showed Hien the backsplash I wanted and he suggested the Calacatta Bravo and Calacatta Miraggio these designs would not clash with my backsplash. Hien gave me a quote and a sample piece of the backsplash at no charge. He gave me the estimated installation time which was about 3 - 10 business days. I ended up selecting another vendor because United Granite's prices were $300 more expensive. Again, I had a great experience and wanted to share. I think United Granite should offer quotes online, most vendors I checked offered that service. That way you don't waste anyone's time if their prices were not in my budget. read more

Please be aware if something happens to your countertops and they come to your home to help remedy the problem and THEY make it worse they WON'T take any responsibility!!! I got a stain on my brand new countertops they came out and applied two separate applications and ended up making it worse!!! I'll post pictures. I thought they would take the responsibility of ruining my countertops on their watch, but nope!! Offered me a replacement at my expense even though they made it worse!! Not even worth One star. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Elkridge location!! World class crappy customer service. The sales staff, in particular, Fred, could care less about showing you their products or following up with you. Oh and Fred is in charge of this location. I visited several times hoping that it would get better but that wasn't the case. I scheduled my 2nd visit so they would be available to help me. Fred wasn't available but another employee helped out. However, when I'd ask if they could move slabs to see things better, I got the sense that I was inconveniencing them. Who buys granite, or whatever without seeing it in it's entirety?! Because it's a natural stone each slab has a different look and isn't uniform! On my 3rd visit I found something I liked but they didn't have the leathered finish in Elkridge. Fred suggested that I go to their other location in Bowie to see what it looked like. Although the slab was on hold for another client, it could be ordered. I drove 1 hour and 45 minutes round trip to Bowie only to be told by the one and only sales person, Chris (who was VERY nice), that they couldn't get any more. Thanks for wasting my time and gas (especially NOW with the current gas issues!!) Chris was VERY pleasant and his location is quite the opposite of Elkridge. That being said, the only way you can see a slab is if this poor guy moves it manually BY HIMSELF!! What the heck, talk about an unprofessional operation. Someone else should be there to operate the machinery that moves slabs! I was going to drive back down there to see a slab in it's entirety. Chris called Fred in Eldridge to get some help moving slabs. FRED suggested I wait a week but Chris spoke up for me and said that was too long. Fred offered to come down 2 days later. I called that morning, good thing I did because Fred cancelled and it was up to Chris to move several slabs on his own!!! I was cancelling the appointment anyway. read more

They foisted on us a crappy installation of premium countertops last Wednesday 8 August. Two of five surfaces are not level. Two others were not cut per drawings. The effort to install one of the latter two put dents in our new sink. Our contractor tried to get their rep to come out to see this shoddy work. We first had something set up for Friday 10 August. They delayed until Tuesday 14 August, again delayed until Wednesday 15 August, and yet again until Thursday 16 August. And yes, once again rep ducked a meeting. They failed to show up. Why will they not own up to their mistakes? We will not go away. Do they really want us to have to resort to further action against them to resolve this? read more

We had a new smaller countertop installed to replace a larger top that intruded into our dining area. The work performed by the two installers was absolutely amazing. My wife and I are completely happy with the end result and have no problem highly recommending United Granite read more

Horrible customer service. Went in and ordered a granite countertop. Drew everything up and paid. They came back and told me they couldn't make it the size needed. This was after they cashed my check. Went to get my sink and they didn't have my refund. Took two days and 5 people for them to understand I needed a check for my refund. Then when my husband went to get the refund, he walked in the store to find the manager talking crap about us! Rude, unprofessional, and poor customer service. read more

Very poor customer service if this is your first time replacing your countertops. No direction given on the purchasing process, and with no guidance, the warehouse of unlabeled stone is a bit confusing. Unfortunately, we did stay around long enough for the sales person to insult us, so we will be going with a local competitor. The cat they have hanging around was great though, it hung around us through the entire self-guided tour. read more

Highly skilled fabricators and installers. The installers cared about the finished product. They did not rush and did not leave until it was perfect. This company failed for us when the rubber hit the road - installation. Their selection of stone is fine, and the salesperson was even super nice to work with and very helpful. However, I got my first clue as to problems that were coming when we laid out where we wanted our pieces of granite cut out of the slabs. One of the pieces is at a 45 degree angle and I asked for the piece to be rotated so the grain would continue to flow properly. He laid it out at a 90 degree angle and said "It's OK, it's just a rough layout - they will fix it when they cut it" - but he made no note and I even commented two more times about it before we left. Sure enough, the installation was horrible. That piece was cut just like it was laid out in rough draft, meaning that my hard-picked piece was wasted. They also did the seam starting at the corner at the wall, but then ending about an inch away from the inside corner on the outside which looked horrible. A slab on an island where we specified ogee edge all around had the same pencil edge as the rest of the counters, and another short piece that I also was very specific about where it should be cut from was taken from a different area - an attempt to save granite slab I am sure - and so the color did not match up. We had to call the manager and he came out and took the pieces back. The next day, they came with new pieces and a fixed edge on the island; they looked OK, but that odd seam location still was horrible and the color of the new piece did not match up as well as the original one I picked out. "It will ighten up" the installers said - it did, but not enough. We were also told that they would be in and out in one day - which they were not - but that there was nothing special to be done on our part. They did not warn us that there would be so much granite dust from cutting the stove cut-out that our entire first floor had to be cleaned over and over for days to try to get rid of it. They got done with the install in the afternoon (3PMish) and said that the plumbers would be by next to do the hookups. The plumbers arrived at 9:00 PM! The plumbers were marvelous - Turkish guys who not only were fantastic, but were super nice and did great work. What we discovered though was that the counter installers not only disconnected the old gas line for the cook top in the wrong place, but a part that was needed from the old hookup could not be found because - despite our never asking for it - they hauled away our old kitchen sink, faucet, and cook top. We had plans to donate those to be used in a home for low-income families. So, by 9:30 PM, I was out the door on my way to Home Depot before it closed to get parts we needed. The plumbers got done after midnight! The final insult to injury was that they said they would seal the granite before they left - they did not - immediately, oil on the bottom of our olive oil dispenser soaked into the granite. We are working to get that removed now. I would not walk away from this company, I would run if I were you. There are at least two other granite places not far from these guys that I wish we had gone with now. read more

Our experience was mixed. Our initial contact was with Debra and we had a great experience with her. She was friendly, easy to work with, thorough. We selected a piece of granite that we liked, at which point Walter (the man who actually cuts the granite) came over to help us with a decision. His input was excellent, and we were able to stay on task, It was when the Manager, Fred, got involved, that things got less pleasant. He was rude to us, and extremely rude to his employee... right in front of us. He contradicted her, openly, in front of us. I was mortified. He wanted to us to pay more, for a cut that was not what we wanted, despite the fact that everyone else had verified our previous plan. In the end, we ended up buying from them because he eventually agreed to a reasonable plan at a reasonable price, but I was not impressed by the management and considered backing out for that reason alone. read more

The scheduling by this place is horrendous. You don't get your time slot until the day before and then both the templating and installation occurred late on a Friday night 7:30pm. Both times they were 30 minutes later than time given. Measurements on countertops were incorrect upon installation and the brought the incorrect sink, contrary to what was on the order form. I was without a kitchen sink from a Friday until Monday. Very difficult with having children. Installation was also sloppy. We had to recaulk afterwards and repaint. they also scratched my cabinet when installing the granite. Not as professional as other places. read more

We all know that there are many Granite fabricators out there to choose from, but from all the experiences that I have had in searching for my new kitchen countertops, United Granite is a cut about the rest. Here's why; Showroom It was very easy to find just off Rt. 1 in Elkridge. It was very clean with nice displays which inspired lots of ideas for what I could add to my custom made creation. Stone Selection They have tons of marble, granite and onyx slabs to choose from in both there indoor and outdoor stone yards. They even let you choose which unique slab you want them to use for your project. That part was really fun! Customer Service My wife and I were greeted immediately as we walked through the front door and helped with answers to all of our questions in a very friendly and timely fashion. Pricing Although they may not be the cheapest, they have a system in place that is designed to fit almost any budget. Basically how it works is they mark each slab with a letter A,B,C,D,E etc. . The letters indicate the pricing group for the slab for example A is the least expensive and it gets gradually more expensive as you go up the alphabet. Additionally, they have set-up a payment option system that offers discount incentives depending on your preferred payment method. Ex. If you pay cash you pay less and if you pay credit you pay a little more. Timeline for Installation WoW! This is the part that really blew my mind! From the time my wife and I put down a deposit to the time the counters where delivered and installed "ONLY TOOK FOUR DAYS" incredible! Workmanship As I said in the beginning, they are simply a cut above the rest. The cuts were very precise and all surfaces of our stone were polished to perfection. The installation was equally as impressive and the joints where the sections of granite were put together are very discreet and barely noticeable. Overall We could not be happier that we chose United Granite and will likely use them again for any future projects that we already have in mind such as a new vanity top and a Fireplace surround. They really did a great job with the budget we were working with! read more

I went to an interview for this company and the man who conducted the interview, Fred, was very arrogant and ignorant! He was very good at politely putting me down and made me feel entirely worthless in my job search! I don't know how the workers are but I am very glad I did not get the position because I could not imagine working for such a rude man! If I had gotten the position, I probably would've felt worthless every day at work. This experience has definitely turned me off of this company, whether to work for or have them work for me. When I am in the market for granite countertops, I will certainly make sure to avoid this company!! read more

He did all possible to make a mends and to find us the exact slab we wanted for the price we could afford.
