Well, Tuesday will be a week. I walked into Dr. Conahan's office to see him with glasses. I walked out to see him without glasses. Thank you to the fine staff at United Eye Centers in CO. I trusted Dr. Conahan so much I flew from San Antonio, Texas to Denver, Colorado to have him do my Lasik Surgery. I had many option here in Texas but when it comes to your eyes, you should have 100% faith in your eye center. Now it is great not to have my glasses fog up when I get out of my air-conditioned truck to the humidity of South Texas. Looking forward to wearing my cool regular Sunglasses. The tops of my ears are feeling better already. After years of always having glasses sitting on them. The bridge of my nose is also releaved. These may seem like small things to some but I am happy, I am look forward to living glasses free for my day to day activies. I do still wear reading glasses for very small print reading, but that only makes me look smarter. I can see my phone, dashboard and gps without glasses, it is great. After spending months reviewing doctors who perform Lasik surgery, I decided Dr. Conahan would be the one. From the initial consult everyone I came into contact with was professional, courteous and informative. Each office visit was efficient with no extra waiting or delays and I never felt as though I was being sold something or pushed toward a procedure. Not only is Dr. Conahan an excellent doctor but his staff are equally above par. The day of my surgery something unexpected happened and did not have transport to my hotel after the operation (I traveled 3 hours one way from home). Although I was ready to arrange for a cab, a staff member insisted that she would give me a lift and I could not thank her enough for going out of her way and taking time at the end of her work day to help me out. That shows a true concern for the well being of their patients. Every day I am still amazed and thrilled with how good my vision is and how much healthier my eyes feel now that I no longer wear contact lenses and glasses. Dr. Conahan is the best eye doctor! He has been my eye doctor for as many years as I can remember and he did my Lasik about 5 years ago. The surgery has changed my life, as I was a -4 prior to getting it. I wore glasses starting in 4th grade and started to wear contacts in 5th grade. I was so dependent on them and couldn't function without them. Dr. Conahan gave me the most beautiful gift of sight! He is not only a great doctor and skilled surgeon, but he is always so kind! He makes you feel comfortable and really cares about his patients. All you have to do is walk into his office and watch the videos playing in his waiting room to feel at ease. The videos playing are often times about the mission work he does with his wife and giving free eye care and surgery to the blinded poor in Mexico. Dr. Conahan made the decision to have refractive eye surgery easy! He was so informative and personal at the evaluation. I felt like I was a part of the UEC family by the time I left the evaluation and I always look forward to my visits to check my eyes annually. During the surgery he was so comforting. He talked me through the entire procedure and made me feel confident in his skill. Dr. Conahan also called me that evening to check in with me which I thought was such a personal touch. I went to Dr. Conahan on a referral from a friend to look into the possibility of Lasik. The doctor is incredible! Not only was he super profession, knowledgeable, and friendly, but he throughly explained me my procedure and all possible complications. I ended up having the surgery (something I was a bit nervous about!) and I now have perfect vision! Additionally, through talking with the nurses, I found out that Dr. Conahan goes to Mexico twice a year to do eye surgery on the poor for free! The guy is seriously amazing. After many years of nearsightedness and astigmatism there is nothing more satisfying than waking up and clearly seeing the alarm clock. Had lasik about a month ago and Dr. Conahan was thorough in details of what to expect because he shared his experience in having the procedure done on himself. It's refreshing to have a doctor know what a patient is going through. My day of surgery went smoother than a fresh jar of skippy. He was very honest and let my wife know that she was not the best candidate - when others consults have told her that she was a great candidate.
