BUYER BEWARE UNITED BUILT HOMES Include in your contract a completion date because they do not have ANY sense of urgency but are full of excuses. I have EVERY promise for delivery in text. ONLY correspond in writing. I have a timeline of lack of construction being completed. This is my experience with United Built Homes in South Texas. Signed my contract in July 2021 for a 2100+ sq ft home, not custom home. The builder took 16 months to complete the house, completing in November 2022. The foundation wasn't poured until January 2022, 6 months after signing. The builder went through too many construction managers to count and had nothing but excuses. Meanwhile, I'm watching neighborhoods go up and custom homes being completed. If you're going to use United Built Homes be aware and add a completion date to the contract or at the very least that it should be completed with a sense of urgency. In addition they never bothered with a dumpster and covered up countless nails and construction scraps. Learn from my mistake. Our dream home so far has been a total and complete nightmare. I was taken to one of their homes to see their work. I told Steph we wanted the same type of siding as well as the baseboards and door trim from this home. The home planning continued. I was told to pick tile for my bathrooms. Steph on 2 different times told me my allowance for the tile was $5.00 for the walls anything over that I would have to pay. I picked out my tiles. Then Jeff told me the allowance was $2.00 for the walls. Jeff said that I must have misunderstood. I told him I had the text where Steph told me on 2 different occasions the price. Jeff said it was a mistake & I would need to pay the difference. This was upsetting but we moved on from it. Then we went to pick out the quartz countertops. I didn't like the samples they had in the office, in my opinion they looked very dated so we asked to pick something different. I asked Steph where I could pick different quartz from. He sent me a picture of the stand in their office that holds all the samples with the name on it. I went on to that website and picked one out. Jeff then told me they don't work with that company, that again this was a mistake and that even though this is the stand that holds all their samples in the office/show room it's not the brand they use, and we would need to pay extra for the quartz. Again, upsetting, but we agreed to pay the extra and moved on from that. I gave Jeff and Steph pictures of everything I wanted from our master bathroom, kids' bathroom, my pantry, kitchen basically everything to make sure we didn't have any misunderstandings anymore. Both Jeff and Steph told me it was so great to have someone that was so prepared and knew exactly what they wanted that this would make the process so easy for everyone. We went in for our final review Jeff and Steph went over outlets, number of ceiling fans, number of overhead lights, where the cable wire would go the fuse box. We signed the contract then everything went downhill from there. The house started getting built. We saw that the master bathroom wouldn't fit the way they told us. We would have a walkway of less than 2ft wide (super narrow). We would need to get rid of the L shape design to make the walkway wider. The shower would need to be flipped in a different direction and I would lose the hallway closet to make room for the shower & place for the vanity. My kids "custom shower" would be less than 2.5 feet wide. In order to fix this, we would need to make my daughter's bedroom smaller. Our pantry would not allow for shelves all around as my picture showed.. Again, we had to give up space from my office to make the pantry bigger. I passed by the house & they had already installed siding that was not the one I had told Steph I wanted from the very start from the home we visited. I called him right away. Steph admitted to the fact that this conversation took place. He confirmed that the baseboards and door trims had been added to the plans but somehow the siding had been missed. Now because we signed the contract that by the way did not in the "Features, Packages and Options" list the siding by name or description they want us to pay 7k! to correct this.. according to Steve the current manager this is 1/2 the cost for the correct siding. I told him we already gave up so much with all the other mistakes. Steph confirmed we did tell him about the siding, baseboards and door trim and that siding was missed. UBH is now hiding behind their contact saying we signed it so basically too bad we don't care what mistake was made by our own employee even with them knowing Steph admitted to it. We signed and that was it. I tried to explain that the "CAD" did not label anything as siding it was a pictures but we did not know those lines represented the siding of the home. We told Steve we are not the home builders experts they are. We did not know what each box, line, check was on the CAD. We do know what we told Steph we wanted, he made a mistake and now they want us to help pay for it. They do not care about the customer or doing the right thing. UBH is not to be trusted!! read more

Check their BBB complaints and truly research them to get all your information before being sales talked into a nightmare that lasts way longer than it should. Would probably recommend to my worst of enemies because they truly suck. Beautiful idea of a house with many flaws and a headache of a team to deal with. SPARE YOURSELF FROM TROUBLE LET: If you haven't signed with UBH, spare yourself the heartache and look at another builder such as Tilson (great prior experience; wish we had gone with them this time). UBH is a big con game, based on our current "never again experience." The salesman talks a good talk but knows the company walks a crooked walk. This means his goal is to deceive you! THE SALES PITCH IS, "the house will be done in five to six months and you can move in without mortgage payments for the rest of the 12 month construction loan, while you fix up your current home for sale." THIS IS A LIE! Based on our experience, and that of many other posts on Yelp and elsewhere, I have come to believe that the company never intends to complete your home before the construction loan comes due. You will have two mortgages to pay if you believe their lies. The office manager (Selma, TX) will ignore you. And that seems to be the culture of UBH as you read other stories here and on other platforms. LOOK ELSEWHERE, UNLESS YOU WANT poor workmanship, lack of communication, lies, construction material stealing to use on other homes that are just as behind schedule, construction material left uncovered and open to the elements for months, did I say lies, substandard lumber, broken windows installed as is, more lies, "the manager will call you in 15 minutes" but he never calls- ever! CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION. Their construction supervisors don't supervise. Unless you bring defects to their attention, problems don't get corrected. We've been through three supervisors, so far. The company doesn't even notify you that they no longer work for UBH. We found out from a subcontractor that one of them quit because he did not want to be part of the lies anymore. It's been a year since the building contract, eleven months since the forms went up. Still not completed! If you want this fun experience, by all means, hire UBH. But don't say you were not warned! read more

I will not recommend them to build a dog house or a bird house. No way for human occupancy. We have had so much delays, mistakes and so called miscommunication that I can hope that the electrician is so bad that my "dream House" burns down. They are not professional builders, be wise purchase a mobile home save yourselves or spend the same amount a get a better builder, hire wine O's. Please take heed. Normally I would not waist my time leaving a review, but then again when I walk through my "Dream Home" I feel like puking. They make me sick. We had an excellent experience from the first day we went into the UBH office and spoke with a very boisterous man who called himself "Juan", turned out to be Jeff Turner...lol....we went back several times with more questions and he was very patient, pleasant and forthright with how and what they could do within our budget and still get the home we were looking for! We are finalizing the construction loan and cannot wait to see our house turn into a home! Looking forward to working with Jim Burton and thank you Steven Watson for your knowledge in all the closing paperwork and choices we had to make! Amazing!!! Is how I am going to describe our experience with Jeff Turner, and Steven Watson at United Built Homes. We just got done signing the contract for our new home, and with their help it was a very smooth, and painless process. My husband and I recently purchased land, and were hoping to have a home built soon for our beautiful family. We thought it was a long shot since we are both in our twenties, and to be honest our credits were not the best. Plus we were requesting a lot to be done on their end to help us financially. After being referred by a coworker we decided to make a visit to United Built Homes in Selma. That's when we met Jeff. He has been sweet, honest, patient, kind, and trusting during this whole process. Don't let me forget to mention he is hilarious, and made us laugh numerous of times. This may not seem like a lot to some people, but to my husband and I someone with those qualities to work with means everything. Well we did get approved and everything we wanted was delivered on their end. As you can imagine my husband and I were both very nervous! I have been pestering both Jeff, and Steven with several questions, and additional requests. They never once said no or seemed impatient with me. We are amazed and very blessed to have had two gentlemen doing whatever it takes to make us happy and comfortable during this process. Next, the construction should begin in the next week or so, and once the home is completed I will write another review to let you all know how our experience was.
