[[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a very unpleasant experience with this company.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I spent $14,000 for hand controls, power transfer seat, push button ebrake and turn signal redirect to be installed in my sprinter, and a few weeks after picking it up, the driver side seat airbag deployed, caused by a short circuit in the wiring in the power transfer seat. They refused to admit fault, even after I took it to Mercedes dealer to have everything looked at and it was confirmed that the wiring was totally botched. Luckily I was not driving when the airbag deployed, it could have been so much worse. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After numerous phone calls, visits back and forth from Mercedes to their shop in Stanton, they maintained they were not at fault, and still do apparently.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They never apologized, treated my wife and I like we did not matter, and finally after contacting their parent company BraunAbility, they paid to have the airbag replaced and wiring to be replaced by Mercedes, but still never heard from them, no apology.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Terrible customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Terrible workmanship. I went in to check out the Smart Lifter scooter lift. Jose was nice and showed me the model they have and how it works. He also checked to see if there were any other lifts that were compatible with my vehicle but there weren't any. For the smart lifter, he gave me a quote of $5500 plus $500 off for a deal they were running at the time. However, I was able to find the same lift including installation elsewhere for $1100 less than United Access quoted me. Do your research and shop around before purchasing anything here. read more

Let me start by saying I have been in the customer service industry for over 20 yrs. This office has an amazing staff that listens to your needs and truly cares about their clients. Robert and Jose was so knowledgeable and respectful they have earned this review in spades! Robert taught me a lot about mobility vans (my first one). I held out on telling him I was really only shopping until late in our meeting. His demeanor never changed and he even gave advice for when I was ready on what type of financing I might expect. I told him how my Vietnamese family dynamic was one that everyone was very opinionated involving major purchases and he brought a vehicle to my house so they all could experience a demonstration -- keep in mind I made no promise of a sale to him. He really left an impression on me. MONTHS later, I went straight back to Ability Center to see what was in stock. Jose made the whole experience so easy for me, even driving the vehicle (from San Diego!) to my house and work so both my family and I could examine it. He was in communication with me during the whole process to ensure everything went without a hitch. My availability is very limited and I was able to finish everything through e-mail and one final visit. I waited almost 2 months to post this review just in case any problems came up after we got the minivan so I feel very confident with my purchase and decision to give Robert and Jose my 5-Star review. Having to admit you actually need an assisted driving device is already hard. Ability Center does not make this process any easier. I purchased hand controls months ago and now bought a new car. I wanted to have the controls added to my new car, but was thrown hurdles left and right by Jose. Instead of helping me to be excited about my car, I was given the feeling that they are doing me a favor by working on my car. There is no sense of urgency or follow through. Business must be so good that they would let a paying customer walk away. In the end, I took my business elsewhere and to a place where they make me feel my business is appreciated. read more

This use to be called ability center new name is United access and they are horrible!!! I had to take our lift AGAIN for service and was told it's the metal platform again and the company that makes it only has a 90 day warranty!! When I took it in we had honestly used it under 30 times but that didn't matter. I asked Oscar to call Harmar, the company that makes it, to see if they would cover at least part of the $1,800 and he said he'd call me back but after 2 weeks he hadn't called so I called him and he said he'd checked with Harmar and they said no!! Asked why he didn't let me know and that's crappy what could his company do and he said he'd talk to his boss and call me back, you got it he never did so after two weeks again I call him to be told they wouldn't do anything either (not sure if he thinks I'd forget or what) !! I explained to him that THEY recommended Harmar after meeting with their salesman in the office for over 2 hours and calling Harmar getting their recommendation for my exact car! We had a Bruno before that I loved but they recommended this piece of crap. I left a message for their manager to call me so we can discuss this but nothing so far! I will be looking for a new company and am warning everyone we know about both companies!!! read more

I would like to thank "Robert Gerace", the General Manager of the ABILITY CENTER, for "waving" the service charge on the repair on our Bruno wheelchair lift. We've been dealing with a "comedy of errors" with our Bruno Wheelchair Lift since our first maintenance service on July 2 of this year. Today was our fifth time in the shop, for an issue that was missed the first time. This lead us to a break down which left us stranded and my wife without a lift for her power wheelchair. Finally after months of being sent all over the place from dealership trying to try fixing my van ( A conversion van) and putting out thousands of dollars Ability Center not only found the problem with my van in one visit and finally I got insurance through them so that from here on in anything I need done on the van that breaks down will be covered and I will not have the runaround that the dealerships gave me while Supposedly trying to find the problem. They were trying to find out what was wrong since January! at this time as you could see it's June 1. Since they have new people running this place this year they are great! I got so tired of dealerships charging me an arm and leg and at the end they will say it's because of the ramp or it has to be a conversion van problem always after getting all the $$$$ out of me they finally say I'll have to take my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica conversion van to a place that works on conversion vans!!! Finally I found this place (ability Center on Western Avenue in Stanton) who will check my van out before I go through any dealership and money and they will let me know if it's a conversion van problem or something that needs to be taken care of by a dealership or mechanic. Monday (725/2011) I came here to fix my chair left which I bought at here five years ago. The mechanic told me that I need to replace two motors, but the manufacture company doesn't carry this type of the motors anymore. I have to fine it myself, and then he will replace for me. It takes one hour to diagnose the system and 4 hours labor to replace the motor, $90.00 per hour. The total labor charge would be $450.00. The mechanic did not even know the model and part serial number. There was no way for me to find the part myself. Next day I googled and found Mac's Left Gate in Long Beach. Guess what happened? They found the motor I need, also told me that I only need to replace ONE MOTOR. They only charged me one and half hour on labor ($80.00 per hour, it was $10.00 cheaper than this place, Ability Center). The motor was $160.00 plus one and half hour labor was $120.00 which included diagnose system. The total I paid was $280.00. It was much much cheaper than Ability Center. read more

I had been a longtime customer of the Ability Center. But when I went there for service about three years ago, the service manager treated me unethically by charging me for service I did not need and that I told him I did not want before they serviced my vehicle. I paid them anyway simply because I did not want to get caught up in disputing it since they at least fixed what I did need serviced and it was late in the day, so I just wanted to get out of there with my van. Because they had lost my trust in them, I did not return again after that 'til yesterday. But I had to return to Ability Center yesterday because there was no other dealer nearby that is certified to perform the service I needed. They now have a new service manager and they performed only the service I requested yesterday. I didn't mention my previous experience that caused me to stop patronizing them and I was prepared to pay them for the service they performed yesterday. I don't know why but they did not charge me a penny for the service they performed yesterday (and the technician did a good job). That redeemed Ability Center in my eyes. In the interest of full disclosure, I want to be clear that the technicians are quite good and always have been. Even when they treated me unfairly previously, I had no complaints about the quality of their service. My dissatisfaction was with their management, not with the technicians. I will begin patronizing Ability Center again and will recommend them as long as they continue to treat me ethically and fairly. They won me back as a customer. read more

I have had to get my Braun Sienna van serviced at this location for regular maintenance, because I bought the van from them. Since I needed a rental in the meantime, i asked them for quotes. Over a period of 2 months, I was quoted 3 different prices, up to twice the original amount stated. I left my vehicle with them as scheduled, but they did not work on it until several days later, causing me to incur additional rental charges. When I needed the air conditioning system fixed, they never did a full research of a leak until i involved Braun headquarter directly. Lastly what broke the camel's back was the atrocious support when i got rear ended. Since they are an official dealer, i went to see them to help evaluate the cost of the damage. They simply stated that they did not know, did not even try to see if any of the ramp activation system was damage even though I pointed to them that the ramp was not unfolding correctly. Without fail each time I dealt with them, it was obvious that they never return calls within a couple days. If you want to get updates on progress, be ready to contact them. This place cares about making a sale, not making returning customers.They no longer are the sole distributors of many different conversion systems. read more

My grandmother has rented vans from here a few times for my grandfather who is in a motarized wheel chair they normally use an access van but they are never as avalible as they make it seem. The workers at ability center make it easy and they are so helpful. Each time we have been there we delt with Samone at the front desk she is polite and patient and knows the in n outs of the vehicles. She makes sure you are able to use the straps properly before you leave and she also makes sure we are ok and comfortable to hit the road for for this, we will keep comming back.
