I walked into this place masked up and nobody looked at me strange. That made me feel good. The young lady asked me if I like to place an order, and I ordered breakfast. It also made me feel good that she didn't have a nasty attitude. Everyone in there was pleasant. I got my food in a timely manner. I will definitely come back. Thank you so much.

Burnt French toast! Even my seven-year-old nephew can make French toast and if something comes up in the kitchen and you do burn the French toast -don't send it out it takes like three minutes to make more. You should never have sent this out on an order -you guys stink!

Ok so this place JUST opened, and I've had a hankering for some good ol fashioned Yee Haw american food for a while now, so I knew I had to stop by. The good + Wow waitresses really friendly. I know its part of their job, but when they interview them are like like "How would you rate your own level of friendliness, from 1-10?" If not, they should. +The fries were pretty damn good. +Hot dogs damn good too! +Inside is very clean. Almost too clean... +Everything on the menu sounds good! The bad: - They don't include fries with the hotdogs? Bruh. - The chicken tenders were just on the plate. Like..is there a better way of plating them? A square paper box (old fashioned style) perhaps? Overall, this place is a good addition to the community. I was super-full after, but that could be due to the fact that my body doesn't adjust well to American food, and I only eat it once in a blue moon. If someone eats American food a lot, you can tell by looking at them. You know what I mean.

La Salle Ave. There was a revolving door of delivery pickups by Door Dashers, Uber Eats, etc. There is a long bench across from the kitchen for waiting for orders or to be seated for dining in. Note: Your entire party must be present before being seated. The restaurant is small, however, was filled to capacity. The service was excellent! A seasoned black male employee (I'm sorry I can't remember his name) was so helpful and charming in sharing some of the history of the restaurant with us. He made sure we saw their framed 2024 Award Winner Finalist for Best Breakfast by Click on Detroit - Channel 4. I had the jumbo cinnamon roll, french toast and fresh fruit. My dear girlfriend had the lobster benedict with the potatoes, tomato slices and cornbread. It was a great breakfast option because she doesn't eat meat. We both left here so full. We experienced why they won the award for Best Breakfast!

They biscuit cut is a large portion so I usually go for a one biscuit with gravy and a poached egg on the top. Perfection! Parking situation update, seems they have an agreement to let people park in the Main Street Kitchen lot along the south side of their building. This opens up a lot of parking options since their actual lot is always full and a dead end so it's awkward to maneuver your exit if you don't find a spot. Also post office on a Sunday is also available. Or the city hall lot we've done on holidays or weekends. We've almost always gone as a pair and been able to get seating during the in between times of breakfast and lunch; some say brunch on weekdays or after the lunch rush around 1pm. During the summer the few tables outside have been empty so we snag those. Food is quick and coffee or orange juice are very good. I ordered the Mediterranean skillet, lemon pancakes, and a side of biscuits and gravy. Yes, this was a heavy breakfast! The Mediterranean skillet had plenty of feta, which I LOVED but it was dry overall. There was no sauce to really bring everything together. I even got eggs over medium and the egg yolk did not add much creaminess. It was good, just not my favorite thing I've eaten. The lemon pancakes were absolutely unreal. Sooo fluffy and the cream cheese frosting was incredible. I would 100% recommend them. I also tried a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was very thick, which was not my favorite, but the gravy itself was amazing, but it's the white super peppery kind, which I know is not everybody's favorite! Again, just kind of dry, even with the gravy. The service was good, and for a Saturday around 11 AM, the 20 minute wait was totally reasonable. I would definitely come back, just probably not for the skillet next time.

I used to live nearby about 25 years ago and remember coming to a diner in this area for breakfast back then. Fast forward to today--this isn't the same place, but wow, it's absolutely amazing. Right away I loved the vibe. The chalkboards with handwritten menu items and daily specials on the walls give the place so much character and charm. It feels welcoming, classic, and cool all at the same time. The customer service was excellent from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the country breakfast, which came with biscuits and gravy, eggs, toast, potatoes, and sausage--everything was spot on. I'm usually not a big hash browns person, so I really appreciated that they offer an alternative to the shredded style. I went with the cubed breakfast potatoes (not sure what they officially call them), and they were so much better--crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Between the food, the service, and the overall atmosphere, this place completely won me over. I already know I'll be back next weekend. Oak Diner has a really, really good vibe, and I'm glad I rediscovered breakfast here. Highly recommend.
