Very enjoyable breakfast. I ordered the Greek omelette with rye toast and a cup of coffee. I asked black olives be put in the Greek omelette along with tomatoes, onions, feta cheese, and gyro meat. When the omelette arrived, I noticed it had green peppers in it. Weird. But otherwise the omelette was delicious. When I got the bill, I noticed that I was charged 49 cents for green peppers that I didn't ask for. I let it go. The coffee was delicious, and the service was prompt and friendly. Stopped here for a quick bite in between some appointments on Saturday morning. My waitress could not have been a nicer girl. She even sent me home with a Mountain Dew to go because I was so excited that they had diet. Careful with the taller waitress here with glasses. She will tell you your food is almost ready when walk-in in & then starts sneakily peeking at you with a evil grin minutes later not preparing your order purposely that is ready on the counter but she'll wipe that smirk right of her face when you call her out. Burnt French toast! Even my seven-year-old nephew can make French toast and if something comes up in the kitchen and you do burn the French toast -don't send it out it takes like three minutes to make more. You should never have sent this out on an order -you guys stink! read more

Ok so this place JUST opened, and I've had a hankering for some good ol fashioned Yee Haw american food for a while now, so I knew I had to stop by. The good + Wow waitresses really friendly. I know its part of their job, but when they interview them are like like "How would you rate your own level of friendliness, from 1-10?" If not, they should. +The fries were pretty damn good. +Hot dogs damn good too! +Inside is very clean. Almost too clean... +Everything on the menu sounds good! The bad: - They don't include fries with the hotdogs? Bruh. - The chicken tenders were just on the plate. Like..is there a better way of plating them? A square paper box (old fashioned style) perhaps? Overall, this place is a good addition to the community. I was super-full after, but that could be due to the fact that my body doesn't adjust well to American food, and I only eat it once in a blue moon. JUST STAY AWAY! Here's why ... I believe Unique Coney Island (UCI) used to be National Coney Island (NCI). I think someone who worked at NCI or owned this NCI franchise (Sterling Heights), sold it and opened UCI immediately after. The food at NCI was oftentimes so bad, I actually got sick on a couple of occasions (food poisoning). I tried to report them to the local health department, but their reporting process was so drawn out, I just dropped it. Carryout breakfast often appeared as if food had been transferred from someone's plate (who didn't eat it) into a carryout container, then resold at full price. Because UCI is in my area, I said to myself ... "Okay! I'll try this place. Maybe it's totally new ownership!!". WRONG!! Same bad food, and I think same chef ... When I walked into UCI tonight, the chef looked like the same chef that worked at NCI. Really hungry, I decided to play it safe an only order a chicken greek and 2 spinach pies, to be split between a friend and myself. The spinach pies were DISGUSTING!! These weren't typical spinach pies. These appeared as if the chef sprayed them with Pam, threw them on the grill, then flattened them!! Who eats re-grilled, flattened spinach pies? Even the lingering taste left in your mouth was really odd. (See pic showing grease on white paper towel after dabbing just a single side of one spinach pie). Now, onto the Greek Chicken salad ... The salad was much better, but even this was bad. After looking at the spinach pies, my friend refused to eat the salad. (I think I should have followed her lead.) The chicken was cut into strips like french fries. It was as if the chicken was cooked yesterday, left out all day, then thrown in the fridge overnight, then brought back out the following day and recooked on the grill. The feta cheese was odd. There were portions where the cheese was chunky and chewy, and the Greek dressing was tasteless. It's sad when you're hungry and you "PAY" a restaurant to feed you, yet you can't eat the food. But, ironically, 30 minutes after eating the spinach pie and a little of the salad, I ended up with -- diarrhea. AGAIN! This is likely why I don't see many cars in the parking lot of this restaurant. Folks, stay away from this restaurant!! They don't value you as a customer and could care less about serving you bad food. Reporting these places to the health department is a little complicated. But it's nice knowing reviews exists to warn others. read more

This place opened 3 weeks ago. It wasn't on the menu, but asked for and received a chili omelette. It came with melted cheese on the inside. Quite tasty. Hash browns were cooked perfectly. Waitress was very attentive. Very clean place. read more

After going twice I feel like at least the Greek salad is solid..since that's all I've had. The tomatoes are not in season and it shows, but I suggested cherry tomatoes so they may listen to me.... The pita is perfect!! One side gets crispy while the other side soft and fluffy!! I love this!! Makes for awesome little Greek salad pitas!! I wish they had chick peas but it's just a preference. Both times I went in the waitresses were very friendly!! I will go back soon as I want to try the Gyro. Everyone dining seemed happy and enjoying their food which is always a plus when starting fresh. read more

In response to the comment: I am surely not making things up. I don't even live in the area, so I have no reason to lie. I was shocked to smell marijuana when I was in the restaurant. I believe it was coming through the heating ducts as I was standing right under where the heat was coming out and that is where the smell was coming from. Which leads me to believe they are likely smoking in the back, perhaps with the door open thinking the smell would go out there... but in actuality some of it gets sucked up into the fan/ducts and the smell gets pushed around from there. Visiting from out of town for a couple weeks for the holiday. Have gotten take out twice from here. First time - when I walked in to pick up my order, the place reeked on marijuana. It was later... maybe an hour before they closed. Pretty sure they were smoking in the back, which is a clear violation of health & safety laws. Wasn't keen on ordering again after that, but my husband wanted something quick. So we got take out again. This time when I picked up -- the place did not smell on marijuana, but the workers had their masks hanging down on their chin and didn't bother to put it back covering his face when I came up to the counter. First time here since National Coney closed, couldn't make it down to The Deli because of traffic so decided to check this place out for lunch time. I was surprised they were not busy at all. I decided to get the coney dog special just to check it out and ugh was I more than disappointed :/ the fries was not even fresh the coney dog was not good. I was surprised I had to ask for ketchup when normally you can find this on the tables already. Looking around, none of the tables have ketchup lol just mustard ... super Unique here for sure. Didn't help that our waitress was not the best server there. Service was slow and she was not very attentive as we never got our checks. First and last time here for sure. read more

This place is not anything like the old National Coney Island even though I'm told it's the same management staff. Service was very slow and you can tell the difference in food quality. You're better off hitting Jimmy's on Metro or the coney on John R if you are craving a coney. read more

Went there today to try it out since we used to go to the national. The waitress was very nice but the floor was dirty, the place was freezing and it took way to long to get our food and our beverages were never refilled. I work not to far from this place. This place used to be a National Coney before it was Unique Coney. There is nothing Unique about them. They not only copied the National menu items, but copied the prices from their old National Coney menu. The food is average, so the prices are high for what they serve. They have no daily specials what so ever, not even 7am-10am breakfast specials. The parking lot is empty during breakfast and dinner hours because there food is meh and overpriced. Maybe try breakfast specials or Two for Tuesdays coneys. When the restaurant across the street opens back up, with their daily specials, Unique will be hurting more than they are now. And lets face it, there are coney places every half mile in Sterling heights, maybe they should try to be more Unique(get it),.I do wish them the best of luck, but with out the National Coney Island name recognition, they need to step up their game. read more
