Uniqlo's flagship store in the north of the UK, which opened a new horizon to expansion with one of their only locations north of London in the UK is right here on Manchester as the former BHS unit on Market Street has been finally taken over (although it doesn't seem to expand into the Manchester Arndale as the old BHS unit did)
This store is bright, modern and huge, it is probably even larger than UNIQLO's flagship store on Oxford Street, from the top floor you have amazing views of Market Street and even some shoe-store style seating where you can sit back for a moment or two, relax and enjoy the view.
The construction of the store is a little weird, but I think this was down to the building as it was the same with BHS, with a small area of the store, then a lift (brand new modern lift, ultra fast) or half a dozen stairs, leading to the main floor, and then there is another store on top of that - so they've taken something which could be a burden, and threw it around for it to actually make the store look and feel better - good job for that Uniqlo!
Uniqlo can often be seen as a Japanese Primark but with everything being better quality, from the overall feel of the store to the actual clothing product, the prices were competitive in most regards, although I did find some items to be pricey, without too many promotional offers.
There could have been more staff around the shop floor, I wasn't acknowledged by anybody which is a shame - service seems to be one of the few things which let this store down in general.
A unit which has been vacant for many years since BHS went into administration has been totally turned around, modernised, it feels like they've torn the store about, making everything new from the decor to the lift, the red lighting outside makes one feels like you're actually in Tokyo, where the main company is based and with a great selection of unique and innovative products, a style which can't be found at any other retailer in Manchester or perhaps up north, this store is definitely worth a visit while you're in the area and I'm so pleased Uniqlo chosen Manchester, my home town for their flagship location here. 4* read more
