I also brought all the paperwork that I needed and I got that information from their website. However, I noticed that some of the personnel that work here were rude to some of the people waiting for service. Also, the people waiting should do their homework ahead of time and come prepare with their paperwork or documents. So I can understand how employees get frustrated, but also people get frustrated because many of them need to get the process done and they feel frustrated with the bureaucracy. with that said in the five minutes, I was there I heard many people complaining and also employees yelling at those people so overall, it was a stressful experience, even though my own transaction was very fast and easy because I came prepared. My recommendation is for you to make an appointment and also review carefully the requirements that are posted on their website so that once you are at your appointment, you can have a fast and productive experience. also, I saw several signs that say that appointments are REQUIRED. Also, some of the disturbances I witnessed were because people who did not have appointments or were missing documentation but were very insistent which then became a yelling match between them and the SSN employee! Another suggestion is to be patient. This is the Social Security office which is a government facility, and this type of thing can be slow and bureaucratic. This is how it is, so be patient, come prepared, and make sure to have an appointment.

I usually try my best to avoid the DMV, and this experience reminded me why…read more My dad recently tried to go in on his own, and unfortunately had a really frustrating experience right from the start. The front desk employee--who has been there for years--was very rude and dismissive. I understand that staff deal with a lot of people who may not have the right paperwork or may not be tech-savvy, but that doesn't excuse the lack of patience or basic courtesy. My dad was told he needed to scan a QR code outside to check in. He tried to explain that he didn't know how to do that, but instead of helping, he was told to "just use your camera and scan it." He ended up taking a photo of the code and was understandably confused. Even the security guard wasn't much help. Frustrated, he left without getting anything done. Luckily, I was on spring break and able to go back with him. When we arrived, he immediately recognized the same front desk employee. We managed to check in properly and waited about an hour. While sitting there, I couldn't help but notice how she spoke to other confused customers--it was honestly hard to watch. I get that the job can be repetitive and frustrating, but many people coming in genuinely need help, especially older individuals. That said, I want to highlight someone who completely turned the experience around: Armaan. Armaan was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. He took the time to clearly explain everything my dad needed to do, made sure we had all the correct paperwork, and even double-checked with a coworker to ensure everything was done right. His professionalism and attitude made a huge difference. This was the first genuinely positive experience I've ever had at the DMV. If it weren't for Armaan, we likely would have had to come back--and I honestly don't know how that would have gone. 5 stars for Armaan--he deserves recognition for going above and beyond.

I spent nearly nine months inside of the Santa Rita facility, & the blatant amount of police…read moremisconduct that is encouraged & subsequently ignored by the upper administration is alarming. A normal day consists of being fed expired, rancid-tasting, and foul-smelling meat for lunch. Having your breakfast & dinner opened with the majority of the meal missing prior to you receiving the "tray". Being harassed nearly nonstop by the medical staff during pill calls & the Alameda County Sheriffs for the duration of the day. On some lucky days, you'll be confined to the cell that you're assigned to for days on end with no release for recreation or leisure time, & to top it off, while you're here, they will sometimes flat out refuse to feed you! At every possible opportunity, the majority of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office can & will attempt to sabotage your well-being, your state of mind, & your safety. Due to the fact that I was a political prisoner, my experience may have been more severe than that of the "average" inmate. During my incarceration in Santa Rita, I was denied access to meals on over 25 separate occasions, and when I was fed, I was given food that was opened and emptied of nearly all of its contents. I was denied exit from the cell I was assigned for recreation on more than 42 separate occasions, at times spending days locked inside the cell without exit. The majority of those forced imprisonments were facilitated by Vargas (badge #2403) and a deputy technician identified by Manzo as Filburn (badge #13). After an inmate entered the cell I was assigned shortly before the morning meal on 3-9-23, I was subsequently drenched in mace by Molina (badge #2658), then locked inside the cell without access to meals or a shower to wash off the chemicals burning my skin, hair, eyes, and scalp. This is but a nibble, a piece of all the traumatic experiences I went through while incarcerated in Santa Rita. We need to demand more from our elected officials and overseers regarding the treatment of our country's citizens while incarcerated or pre-conviction. The fact that I wrote numerous letters to District Attorney Pamela Price, Governor Gavin Newsom, Senator Scott Wiener, PREA Northern Region in California, and the Bureau of Prisons Regional Office in Sacramento with absolutely no response was especially telling. My arresting agency was the Federal Bureau of Investigations. I was held inside Santa Rita as a holding facility before a potential transfer back to Federal Prison, which never materialized, and was in turn subjected to Hell on Earth living conditions by a law enforcement agency that was essentially only my jailors. These sorts of stories are all too common, and due to the fact that District Attorney Pamela Price's office primarily facilitates the transfer from freedom to incarceration within that facility, it's my honest belief she should be doing more to know what is occurring within its walls. Again, the fact that her office couldn't even be bothered to respond to my letters showed the level of concern she has for those she ultimately sentences to a life of bondage.

This was my first time at a Social Security office, and I drove 40 minutes to the San Leandro…read morelocation because they had the earliest available appointment. Based on my experience, it was well worth the drive. I arrived 30 minutes early. I was sent a text message with a link to check-in when I arrived, so I checked in on my phone and went to the kiosk (which is on the left side of the entrance upon entering) to print out my ticket. They have a TV screen on the wall with a queue of ticket numbers, but they will announce your number when it's your turn over the intercom. The sound quality of the intercom isn't the best, so listen closely for your number. The waiting room is small, but thankfully it wasn't full. From my appointment time, it took about 20 minutes to be seen, and I was good to go after about 15 minutes. Essentially, my visit took only 35 minutes of my time. I spoke with two employees, and both were very pleasant. The gentleman who helped me update my social security card was very helpful and kind. He made sure to answer all my questions and advised me on how to proceed with my next steps. As other reviewers have stated, you MUST have an appointment. There are signs posted all over the office stating this. I highly suggest making an appointment online as it's the fastest and easiest method. As for parking, the parking lot is tiny. In the same plaza directly across from the office is a Mountain Mike's Pizza, which also has a row of parking. A majority of the parking spots directly in front of the office are handicap parking, so if you don't have a handicap placard, I suggest parking in the spots next to Mountain Mike's Pizza. Just be sure to enter from the main road because that is the only way you can enter that side of the parking lot.
