I wish Union Marcket had more than 5 in Manhattan. This LES location is the only one here in the city.....I understood Cashiers aren't nice but I've noticed it's depend on the day. I also had bad experiences here. (Rude, unfriendly, bad mood etc...) like everyone else wrote the same things about cashiers aren't nice...... They have good products and I like to support esp this is the only one location in Manhattan. They have delicious pastries from SOHO & this supermarket is giving free drink if we purchased. Variety of options, coffee and high quality teas and milks. I def come back again. No places to eat inside... the closest one is on E Houston st. there's a bench. Ramady diner ppl are nice to union Marcket customers to use the bathroom if you needed. The store is Infront of M14A and M22 bus stop. Walking distances from Delaney.

    Large selection of milk.

From the outside the place look small but they packed a tons of items into this new market just off of Ave A and Houston. My GF and I found cashew nut milk and many other non-cow milk options. They also sell Steve's Key Lime Pie! Note: The isles are narrow and the place feels crowded with only a couple of shoppers. On my first visit it was easy to get lost inside in the maze of cans and bottles. There is not a lot of checkout count and the area is tight.

BUYER BEWARE Bought this on 3/6/20 at Union Market on Avenue A and Houston Street . I cut this in half to eat, took one bite and threw that half out because the texture was not like an apple. The half you see here is 4 days after it was sliced on 3/20/20. If I push on this half it has a foam like feel. I don't know what this is, but it isn't an apple. Apples start rotting from the time they are picked. This is barely dehydrating. In fact, there is little to no moisture in it and it just bounces back into shape. These objects were priced at $2.99 a pound and this one (1) object cost $2.99. This did not weigh a pound, so I think Union Market's scale is not calibrated correctly.

Amazing donut and coffee deal for $3

A bit pricey for a grocer, but they have a wonderful grab-n-go breakfast deal. A free 12oz coffee with purchase of pastry or hot oatmeal! The oatmeal looked fresh, and had a little bar with 3 toppings to add in. The pastries looked like French patisserie quality, but we only tried the donut. Large, covered in chocolate and cinnamon, and delicious! For only $3, a gourmet donut and coffee is quite a deal. Will definitely return to try other pastries- they looked amazing and delicate.

Friendly service but terrible baked goods. Don't get the bread, specifically the baguette and brioche bun.

There are more cashiers than I've seen in any other Trader Joe's. Accounting for what they knew would be a high-trafficked store, the aisles are wide. Plenty of merchandise. Clean, well-stocked. Same prices I paid when I shopped at Trader Joe's in Roswell GA though -- and it may be my imagination -- the bag of frozen Gyoza Potstickers (something I always buy) seems to have shrunk. The First Avenue bus is right outside. Convenient! I would avoid rush hour and weekends when the store could get super busy. I don't want to struggle with purchases on a crowded bus. But I'll surely be back, mid-week, mid-day.

Unfortunately, the experience was heavily overshadowed by an uncomfortable situation with a security guard who followed us around the store. It was very off-putting and honestly diminished the entire visit. If I hadn't been in a rush, I would have left my items right where I stood and walked out. Security should be focused on individuals who are actually stealing, not hovering over someone carrying a tiny bag where nothing could even be hidden. Because of that experience, it's unlikely I'll return to this location. I may consider trying a different Trader Joe's someday, but this visit left a very sour impression.

We have developed a congenial friendship which was founded on La Fermière yogurts. Emre knows that I price shop so invariably I know when the time is right to buy these delicious yogurts at Eden. I often buy Siggi yogurts as here they are $1.99 each. The ladies - Dolores, Affou, Mamata, Savita, Tofu - at the checkout are friendly, kind and remember customers. A few speak French which I practice with them. Being originally Greek, the Dolmas in the prepared food section, are plump and particularly tasty. It's worth buying a few to take home. Adam looks taciturn but always is kind to me. He is behind the deli counter preparing sandwiches and always gives me a quarter pound of the Jambon de Paris. Miguel and Medina are also here. A loyalty card is worth having and once having accumulated many points I paid the princely sum of $1.61 for a pretty bouquet of roses in assorted colors that cost $11.99. Now that's a steal! Eden Gourmet is the sister supermarket to my beloved sadly closed Eden Gourmet of 14th street. This too is packed to the brim with fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses, dairy, chicken and meats. A large variety of sparkling waters, frozen entrees, ice creams and assorted temptations are here too. A small bakery has cakes and pastries available. I pop in often to get milk or to see what's new and always to say hello to everyone. I always feel happy coming to Eden Gourmet Marketplace!
