Stopped by before an event in Seattle recently. Looking for something special. The staff was a little preoccupied but friendly. The selection is huge for such a small space. It would be cramped with more than a few folks browsing but thankfully it was just us and the two folks working. They have a good selection and a range of brands. But even with that they all kind of blended together in similar look/feel. They also had a clearance section so I may go back and check that out. I would just love to see them add a section of more sexy underwear. Its so hard to find men's lingerie anywhere. read more

This would be like the VS for men !!! First time i came here i bought a swimsuit and second time a tanning lotion and saw my next swimsuit ! They have a wide selection of underwear and swimsuits,ranging from sexy cool and different,they also carry some tanning,shaving,colognes. Well I am kinda blushing, but it's just underwear. I do not think too much about clothing and even less thinking about underwear..Until I discovered UnderU4men! These undies are a big difference from the bulk pack at cost co. I did not know there is so many styles and fabrics of mens underwear and swimwear. No, I am not talking about mesh undies or thongs or jock straps...if you got the bod to rock them out, go for it but I am Just talking about briefs and other variations,including boxers. Here are an example of the underwear that stood out for me: There are bamboo fabrics that are surprisingly soft. The Bamboo is good material that absorbs sweat as it simultaneously releases vitamins into the skin. There are briefs that are anatomically correct that gives an extra comfort and support with a "no show pouch or sling" that gives health benefits from keeping certain objects from the body to prevent over heating as it also gives a boost but still lets *eheh* them relax. It's summer how about something more breathable? they got you covered at UnderU4men! They have a selection of mesh and vented undies that are not see through or erotic style that a guy would not be embarrassed to wear. Most Girlfriends would like to see their Boyfriends out of their raggy worn out boxers and their silk valentines boxers from Target will not cut it than getting into a nice cut brief or boxers, but if your a regular guy like me they probably would not dig the sheer thong..just saying! keep it realistic so I suggest just to get something regular and nice. If this is your first pair of good undies you will differently feel the difference and will never go back to your bulk pack underwear! UnderU4men also have hot shave supplies and razors,with a selection of cologne. Their staff is courteous and knowledgeable and will make any guy that is still shy about buying nice undies feel comfortable by giving friendly customer service to get you into comfortable undies. My reason for a ho-hum 3 star review is entirely speculative, arbitrary, and vain. Just like most gays in Capitol Hill, right? You see, I would have given 4 stars had it not been for the name. Under U 4 Men? Under Me For What? It's under you for men. Get it? Wink Wink! Under Where For Whom? My underwear is not only under me, and for men (as I am a man and I like men), but it's also on me, around me, but not under me 4 you, but on me 4 me. 1st and 4most, underwear is for MY meat and 2 veg, not someone else's, so it should be Under Me. I take my undies seriously and expect a store with a name to match the $20-35 per pair price range. It sounds like a conversation between Tiffani and Bryttknee written on a Trapper Keeper in metallic pink paint pens with hearts and squiggles - the retarded version of Clarissa Explains It All, or even worse, a reject vanity plate from that obscure game show "Bumper Stumpers" which was an early 90's USA network afternoon staple. Preteen name aside, this place isn't half bad - because the store does have a lot of great underwear for sale. It is priced slightly more than online shops charge but less than some other in-the-flesh shops charge. It's a good place to visit if you're a guy who has a serious underwear fetish or a man of very specific tastes. If you're not that rarified about your budgie smugglers, you could go to Ross (Ross Dress 4 U, I mean Dress 4 Less) and find some, but not all, of the same designer brands for half-price. They had an inordinately large selection of swimsuits for early September (my Jewishness says to haggle! haggle!) and they have a large selection of the Aussiebum brand, which is a personal favorite. The clerks were nice, tea-tree-oil clean looking twink boys, but there wasn't much business and therefore 2 of them to 1 of me (not U). I wish this place a lot of success, but I don't know if girlfriends-with-imaginations and gay-guys-with-credit-cards will keep it afloat. So rush now and haggle! haggle! This store specializes in mens underwear and swimwear, but they also sell sunglasses and shaving accessories. They stay up to date on the latest styles from the biggest designers, so you finally have a way to feel what you are getting instead of just trusting a picture. That being said, you pay for that ability, typically a few more dollars than the garment costs online. It is basically like paying for shipping if you were to order an item online. The problem with underU4men is that they seem to buy the underwear styles right when they are released, so they have to charge you full price even later down the road when the style is on sale on the company's website. Expect $20+ on all underwear, and a bit more than that for swimwear. You can almost always find the same thing online for less. So if you have to own the latest and greatest in mens underwear and swimwear, this is your place. If you would rather wait a few months to get the same thing online for half off (my personal preference), then this store is of little use, unless you would like to see an item in person before buying it online. There is a dressing room available for trying on swimwear, but not underwear. read more

An underwear (and swimsuit) shop just for men. I love it. So i walked into Under "U 4 Men" today, and it turned out it was their opening day. I looked around, and someone who was working there (an owner?) was really enthusiastic and excited to show me all the different underwear fabrics and styles. They must have underwear in about 20 different fabrics, by tons of different brands. Most are really fun. And this is a big deal- the dude who was helping me knew which brands you need to buy a size up to get a good fit (you can't try on underwear before you buy, however you can take anything out of the box to touch and feel the fabric). As i recently purchased some underwear from "Red Drawers" that should have fit, but didn't, i really appreciated this. These guys seemed to really know their stuff, they are excited about their new store, and they are adding a fun boutique to the north end of broadway. Hurrah! read more

If you aspire to have someone undress you in the next week, this is an excellent place to prepare. Really awesome underwear/swimsuits. Great for guys who complain that men don't have as many choices as women in undergarments. Not only do they look hott, quite a few are eco-friendly fabrics like bamboo, soy, hemp, etc. and they also carry locally made/handmade stuff. So, shopping in a place that is extremely inconspicuous can be awkward, but not here. It is so nice to find a place outside of San Francisco that has underpants that are comfy, fun and different. So, not that y'all need to know what's on under my jeans, but I was able to find a great selection on underpants...for all occasions. The staff was really helpful and not even slightly intrusive. I've been shopping at this store for the past few years---I'm not sure why it took me so long to write a review, but alas, here it is! Located in the gorgeous, European-inspired Loveless Building underU4men fits in perfectly: quaint, friendly, & high-quality. Their product options are always rotating, & it's easy to go for one pair but come out with three or four. They have fitness wear, swim, & classic to sexy underwear for any occasion. My favorite is walking into the store on a chilly day, being greeted by their friendly staff, & looking over to see the fireplace roaring. Warm, cozy, inviting. read more

I've shopped at this location since they opened on Cap Hill. This store is much smaller than the flagship store in Portland, which is fine; it is what it is. I've downgraded them by two stars because of a recent negative experience with the manager, when making a return -- my first in many purchases from Underu4men. The item I had bought the day before was MUCH too small; it was unwearable. My drawers are full of underwear. I know what size I wear. I also know that some brands run a bit small or large, and have learned to compensate when buying those brands. This item, however, was for a brand that has never required such compensation. (Subsequent searches show that this a common complaint about this particular item.) I went back to the store to return it for a refund. At first I dealt with the clerk, but a man who I believe to be the manager was standing beside him. After some discussion, he said that he would approve the refund. He made it clear to me that because it was apparent that I had worn the item (yes -- that's how I knew it was too small), he would have to throw it away and eat the loss. That's the point at which it became apparent that I was seen, not as a customer to be kept satisfied, but as a blow to profitability. He also said that he could approve the refund "this time", but would not do so in the future. I don't expect to be asking for another refund, but really? Was he actually chastising me for daring to return an unsatisfactory purchase? This is not good customer service, and leaves me wondering whether I want to do further business with a company whose motto seems to be, "We don't stand behind the products we sell." UPDATE: I've learned that the manager I dealt with was a manager visiting from Portland. Subsequent trips to the Seattle store have been much more pleasant. I've upgraded them by one star. read more

Super happy that the north end of Broadway is doing more and more nice retail and moving away from the toss away of the rest of Broadway. This Under U4 Men is in a great space and super street friendly, unlike the Portland store. If I could split this store in two, I would have given more stars for the Underwear side. The selection, assortment, and size options are off the charts. Underwear for everyone...and why not really...makes the gym locker room a lot more interesting. It is the swimsuit section that leaves me wanting more. Not sure why...just because we live in Seattle....that someone has decided we don't need an extensive, year round selection of swimwear options. Listen up....Seattleites travel like crazy...all year round...to find the sun!!! And we need swimsuits...for each trip. Swimsuits should not be a "seasonal" item. One tiny rack mostly consisting of large and extra-large speedos is very disappointing. And....swimsuits are what I want to try on....because....unlike underwear....EVERYONE sees you in your swimsuit at the beach...and fit is key!! Which comes to my next ding for the rating. The dressing room. A dressing room is a place that comes with hooks and doesn't double duty as a storage closet. Where am I supposed to hang all my clothes? On the vacuum cleaner? Where should I hang all the swimsuits on hangers? Throw them on the floor? Fix it up!!! Give us some hooks on the wall. All in all....so happy to have UnderU 4Men in the neighborhood, but....please recognize...that Seattle gay men travel to find the sun when it doesn't shine here....give us some options!! read more

I love this store. The staff, albeit often young, are obviously grilled on their knowledge of the product. I know I can always buy the same product cheaper elsewhere, but nothing beats friendly staff who know what they're talking about when it comes to these products. Underwear is far more complicated than just my Dad's old BVD's now, and I like walking into a store that can help me find what I want. The selection at the Capitol Hill location is packed! There are probably hundreds of other brands they could carry, but I appreciate having a larger selection of the brands I like, than a smaller selection of a hundred brands I've never heard of. Although, I'm usually talked into at least one pair from a designer I've never heard of. So far, I haven't disliked anything I've bought. read more

When I lived in Seattle and even now UnderU is one of my favorite shops. They have so many options to choose from. They don't just supply underwear they also carry swim suits, shaving materials, socks and t-shirts. The quality of merchandise they have to offer is very high end. Also the staff was very friendly and well educated with the fabrics of the retail that they carry. I felt well taken care of and confident with my purchase. There should be more stores with this standard of quality and high level of knowledge. I will only buy my underwear from one place and its at UnderU. read more

Just got back from my second visit ever to this place. First time I went I didn't buy anything, but was greeted with friendly and knowledgeable service. Today was no different, and I ended up buying 4 pairs of new undies. Got home and tried them on and I love them. I'm sure that anyone who has the pleasure to undress me will enjoy them as much as I am so far. But enough about that. This place has the largest selection of underwear that gay and even straight guys love that I have ever seen in a single store. Plus they have a nice selection of swimwear too, though I agree with some other reviewers they could have more. It is likely they don't due to space constraints. I was up from LA and decided to stop in and buy my BF a pair of aussie Bums. I was shocked at how overpriced these swimmers were. Twice the price of buying them on the aussiebum.com website! Plus when you buy them direct from aussiebum, there's no tax or shipping. Finally, the staff are extremely into themselves and totally rude. I have shopped here three times so far with a friend and love the selection. Pricing is relatively more than online or similar selections elsewhere, but I love the boutique aspect and supporting a smaller business. Love the Andrew Christian underwear and so does my bf had to return something that was defective, and I didn't get a refund and also spoke to a manager over the phone previous to my visit. On the other hand I was able to swap it out for anything equal or lesser in the store so now I have a cute pair of calvins. :) read more

I love underwear and this place has a nice selection, however every single time I'm in this store I'm followed around like I'm some kind of criminal. If shrinkage is that much of a problem they need to install better camera equipment. I'm a white man with a good job and yet they treat me this way? How would I be treated here if I were black or Latino? I prefer to avoid this and just buy my underwear online! Sales staff just happens to have to restock the shelf in which I am looking? Come on, customers should not be treated like this. I've been in this place 5 or 6 times and I am willing to let things go, but this has happened at every one of my visits. There really isn't any other place on The Hill to buy this stuff, it's my go to spot for when I don't feel like trekking downtown. Everyone is generally very friendly and they have a great selection. BEWARE CONSUMER... THEY COMPLETELY OVER CHARGE FOR WHAT THESE UNDIES ARE WORTH. You will get a MUCH better deal if you shop online or in downtown stores for these same brands. Great concept, but crazy, crazy pricing. I pay decent money for premium underwear... can't believe people are so deceived to believe they are getting a deal for designer brands.
