Went looking for a turtle for our granddaughter. Small compared to their competitor several blocks away. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

I have ordered iguanas from Underground Reptiles on three separate occasions. I have always received great customer service. They have always sent me healthy animals.

Stay away from this company!! i bought $800 worth of pill millipedes from them and had them shipped overnight FedEx with hold at hub. They were dropped at Fedex at 6:30 PM in Florida and arrived in NJ at 8:00 AM. I was the first person in FedEx at 9 am when they opened and picked up the box. Short drive home, opened the box and all dead with the exception of 3 millipedes which also died later the next day. Temps were in the 20's here but the box and heat pack were still warm. No lag due to temperatures according to Austin there at Underground. Thirteenth and a half hours of travel and all dead?? Impossible that it was caused by temperatures. I've been shipping isopods all winter and have not had one death. Spoke with Austin 2 days later after going back and forth with emails and his offering to make things right was free shipping on my next order. lol. Terrible customer service and sick animals. Don't do business with this company unless you like throwing away money.

This place was nothing but helpful and attentive. We ordered a bearded dragon and they were quick to ship and assist with any questions we had. They also took the time to call us and give us tips for starting out. The woman we spoke with, Bri, was very kind and helpful, both during updates and with our questions. Our baby beardie Spyro is doing well and eats like an absolute champ. Thank you guys!

I saw this company had African tailless whip scorpions, which I had been looking for, in stock. I asked if it was possible to get a 1.2 trio, and was told that's no problem, they'd put a note on my order. When my order came in, I had all females, one dead. They were shipped on dry carefresh with no thermal pack. When I contacted the company, I was offered a store credit for the one DOA ( which wouldn't even cover a replacement if I was buying a single animal, nor would it guarantee me the correct sex), and told there was no note on my order indicating that I wanted a 1.2 trio. When I provided screenshots of my communication, suddenly there was a note that they had overlooked, but they don't guarantee sex, so the note doesn't matter anyway.

Ask the Community - Underground Reptiles

I saw many videos of people receiving their turtles dead, and was wondering if I should really trust UGR on shipping turtles to California. Thoughts?

For me I wouldn’t. Not to long ago I got a bearded dragon from them and it came very weak and skinny and just didn’t want to eat or anything it ended up dying. But I ordered it in the winter maybe that’s why too but still shouldn’t have died like… Read more

I placed the order last week, and he sent it only on Wednesday. 2. He sent the animal by UPS and told me that I have to pick him up from the UPS store in Napa while I live in Fairfield, 30 min from my city. I asked him why he couldn't send it to my house, he said that it would be no responsibil for any health issues then. OK, I asked him to send it to the UPS store in Napa, and I'll pick it up there. 3. He sent it on Wednesday, pick up on Thursday morning. I texted him a night before and asked him, "Am I need to open the box and check the animal at ups or in my house later?"Since I never had experience with UPS pick up, usually I received my orders directly to my home. He never responded to me anymore. On Thursday morning, I drove to the Napa UPS store to pick up the package. I opened the box in my car, checked that he was alive and had no damage, and drove home. I came home, checked the animal, and he was making gurgling noises and had fluid discharge from his mouth. Which looks for me like respiratory infection or pneumonia. I texted the seller and sent him photos of fluid from the mouth. The seller never responded. I googled the seller buseness name listed on morphmarket profile, and I found the physical store in Florida. I called them. They connected me with the owner. I explained him the situation to him, and he said it could be from shipping, and if he won't feel better until Monday, I could ship him back. Then he replied to my messages in morphmarket.com, and he asked me to send him my enclosure pics, I didn't get the point for what, to blame me may be in all issues. But I did send it. And he never replied back. I called my reptile vet clinic, and they recommended bringing the animal. I made an appointment for tomorrow. Hours later, I checked the animal, and he had much more fluid coming from his mouth and more gurgling noise. The fluid has smell. Looks like a heavy infection for me. We had experience with respiratory infection with one of my snakes in the past. And I'm not sure that the animal can make it until Monday, like the seller recommended me. We have an appointment tomorrow, I noticed the seller about it and that I'll send him the bill after it. Never got respons. The animal can't develop respiratory infection just for overnight shipping, and it had a heating pack inside. That's mean that the seller was aware that the animal is sick already and that why hi didn't send him on Monday, only on Wednesday; that's why he sent him to UPS store in Napa which is far from me, he probably was thinking that I won't agree on ot and I'll take a risk to send him to my house address without health issue warranties. The seller posted the animal like a captive breed. it's the reason why i purchased it. But after contacting the reptile community group, the members disclosed the information who did breed those animals in the USA and when and this one is not captive breed. I asked the seller to provide photos of the parents and hatchling, and he said he didn't breed them. He received the animal from someone. It's false advertising. He couldn't prove that its captive breed.

It was mostly the tour guide talking who is a volunteer and very nice. Very enthusiastic. It was a little drawn out and we stoped every 10 steps but worth it. I took the stopping moments to take everything in and even spotted huge spiders. I forgot what they are called but there are the biggest ones I have seen and they are all over. He said they can bite but it's like a bee sting and not poisonous. And they stay off the path anyway. There are huge tanks of really big fish. The barracuda is huge and has the cleanest teeth. These fish are fed well. The place is kept very clean, there are a lot of staff to answer your questions. And there is someone even cleaning the outside of the tanks. They also have a sea horse tank. The butterfly garden is small, saw some zebra butterflies and I think a cardinal bird. You can walk towards the inlet and there is a small peaceful beach and picnic area that is covered. Parking lot is small but plenty of parking on a Tuesday morning at 9:30, but the time we left at 11:30 it was filled and there was a school bus. Figure 1.5 to 2 hours here. This small but mighty facility rescues and researches turtles and other marine life but turtles mainly. Staff/volunteers are very friendly, informative, and eager to help. They have fish feeding and turtle talks not sure if daily or just weekends but check their website for schedule. Also check the weather because if there is lightning, they will close. This spot is free but you can make a donation in the main building to help support the education and research provided here. There is free parking but it gets full quick. However the place is not that large and it may take only a couple loops to line up with someone leaving. If not there is paid beach parking across the street along the road there. There isn't a food or beverage but maybe bring a water bottle if you plan on doing the overlook (especially as it gets hotter). They have a butterfly garden but we only saw one butterfly at the time. They have two tall tanks where they do the feedings that have fish, rays, and a couple turtles. They also have two smaller tanks, one with really large fish and another with smaller. There are some outdoor tortoises as well as a college Marine research area where you can watch them being studied and ask questions of the students there. The overlook is beautiful and provides a nice view of the intracoastal and a slight view of the ocean. There are a few interactive educational boards along the walk up the ramp. If you want a more direct route up or down, they also have stairs. The path also extends into the mangroves and along the way back to the main building.

The facilities are also well maintained; not a speck of dirt to be found. Prices range from about the same as other chain stores (food) to a little higher (treats, toys, furniture). Average pet store territory. The saving grace for this place is that they put out $2 off $10 purchase coupons once a month or more in the newspaper and also have a newsletter where there's almost always a $4 off $20 coupon. A 20% off discount whenever you make small purchases definitely puts them on a level playing field with other stores. That combined with them being a three minute drive away gets me coming to this store... though sometimes - when I'm out west - I'll go by other chains that accept Pet Supermarket coupons as a competitor instead. If you just need the basics, this place is fine - but it won't have as much selection as a store like PetSmart of Petco because the store is just smaller.
