Not only is a flagship store iconic, but there is basically an entire L.L. Bean village. The home store, the hunting store, the café, the outlet... It truly keeps Freeport running. I was excited to visit after the years long renovation. The store still feels very much the same with some newer updates, like new features for kids, additions to the trout pond. They were also doing a vintage L.L. Bean pop-up in the front of the store where you could buy vintage L.L. Bean goods. You will not find friendlier sales associates anywhere. I also love that so many people who work here are of older age. It feels so wholesome. LL Bean used offer free returns for life, but they've updated that to one year. I can get behind that, they gotta make money somehow. When you're in Maine, it's worth a trip. Not to mention it's open 24 hours a day so you can literally go in at any time. From what I know, it's been that way forever. I heard stories about my grandfather bringing my mom when she was a little girl to feed the trout in the middle of the night. They sell couches, sectionals with or without slipcovers, pretty lamps, durable rugs and a large assortment of waterhog mats, bird feeders, nautical maps, cookbooks, dog toys, accessories and treats, outdoor thermometers, lobster buoy with numbers, and lots of Maine themed house and kitchen accessories. Well turns out I had imagined a Dooney Bag. I thought they were always bags with their logo tackily splashed all over. They have a great variety of beautiful leather and nylon bags without the logo overload. Plus some also have a logo of a duck, which appeals to the Mainer in me. Anyways, this store specifically, the Freeport outlet store, has amazing deals. The merchandise appears to be the same as what is currently in Macys. (Unlike the competing designer purse store in the area which is a different line of cheaper stuff). I can't say that for sure of course, but I had almost ordered the exact same purse, down to the stitch, off the Macys website a few weeks earlier. I have snagged 3 purses, a $40 crossbody, a $60 duffel which I used on a 4 day weekend trip (marked down from $200!), and my envisioned $90 nylon/leather handled blue purse. I love them all and now I think I have turned myself into a purse girl.
