The staff are incredibly friendly - we were greeted by Bruce who instantly had us smiling and was quick with a joke before sending us on our way to shop. I think we all know how pricey Bean's can be. Which is why we hit the sales when they come, every time. I saw such cute sweaters and jackets, and the keychains all the girlies were crazy for last summer. Those keychains are EXPENSIVE though - $26 for a small charm and loop of cord? Crazy if you ask me. I snagged one of the Three Potato Four keychains for $11, which I thought was reasonable. Every staff member we met was so incredibly friendly, so even if you don't buy anything, just browsing is still fun. I used to be OBSESSED with the L.L. Bean backpacks & having the initials engraved hahaha. The backpacks were great! I actually still have the backpack somewhere at home & it held up well... 14 years later. Super spacious & held all of the many textbooks I used to have to carry around as a kid, with EASE. I honestly still have so much love for the brand & wear my shearling-lined Bean boots every winter, as well as their wicked good moccasins! They had racks on racks of clothing organized into sizing and gender. Most men's is to the left wall and women's to the right side. The far end walls have the LL bean signature boots in various sizing for pretty good deal it looks like. They didn't have any lined boots for men when we went but the ladies definitely had more selection. They had winter gear, camp gear and casual wear! Snow pants and jackets to fall casual. Checkout is in the front by the door and they had plenty of staff on duty to help you find sizings whatever is on the floor I'm told is what's available as you would have guessed. Some items like the winter gear (coats particularly) were still pretty pricey but at a 30% off the day we came by. The button down shirts and khaki cargo style pants were marked additional 40%. They tag items with color coded sticker circles that indicate what additional discount is on that particular item. If it doesn't have a sticker it was whatever that marked down price is on the tag I'm told. First time being down in this area and looks like LL Bean will be upgrading their brand experience soon with all the campus construction! read more

The Bean outlet offers a pretty decent selection of sale items. If you look you'll likely find something appealing although to be honest we didn't have any success on this most recent trip. Even so, the outlet itself is easy to get to, seems to have enough pleasant staff and was a worthwhile stop for us. The Outlet store is tucked away across from Old Navy. It's ALWAYS busy and the amount of product that is crammed in there can be overwhelming, BUT it gives you a larger selection of discounted items that can't be sold in the Retail store or is a result of a return. If you want a discount, sometimes 40% or more, depends on the product, check here first, but be sure to look at the stitching on some items. If the product doesn't meet quality checks it could end up here for that reason and that's why it's discounted. I got a dog bed for 60% off and for those who have purchased them in the past know they cost a pretty penny. I can always find something here, before shifting over to the Retail store. I would recommend starting here and then going over to Retail or the Home store so you can take advantage of some of the deals. read more

Sept 2023, Labor Day weekend. What a waste of time, the SALES at the LL Bean Outlet in Freeport, ME was not worth the trip up from Westchester, NY. Honestly, we didn't think they had many sales at all. We remember in 2019, when we came here shopping in the Outlet they offered the small soft Lunch Coolers at a great Sale price, better then the LL Bean Store price. However, this time there were NO Coolers at all in the Outlet. Even the Shoes and Flip Flops had horrible selections. We will never make the trip up here again from Westchester, NY. Not worth the trip because there were really NO SALES, like they use to advertise. They want you to open an LL Bean Credit Card to get 25 percent off the original price, are they for real. read more

The people who work at this store are so kind and considerate! I was shopping here with my fussy baby and the woman at the fitting room, Diedra, told me about her grandson of a similar age. She offered that I take the large fitting room so I could bring my stroller in and even told me another woman had used that room to nurse so to feel free to do that and take my time. I was so touched by her warmth and my baby instantly calmed down in the quieter environment. On top of this I also found a new fall jacket and pair of shoes. Always check the outlet before you head up to the retail store. The exact same high quality products are available at the outlet for around 40% less. The products are returned from customers who purchased new and don't have any material defects. It's a smallish store but they have outdoor gear, men's and women's clothes and outerwear, a home section, pet, shoes and luggage/bags. Love living so close! read more

The outlet is on the Bean campus so it's right around the corner from the other shops but I love the outlet because you get the same quality of everything Bean makes but you can buy it for a little less than in one of their other stores or online. LL Bean is top quality and that means it's not going to be cheap. That being said you can save a bit here. The problem is it may take you a bit longer to find what you need since this IS AN Outlet location. Organization and available sizes will be less than but since you are paying a bit lower price then it's to be expected. Take you time look around and you are sure to find a good bargain. read more

I am able to do most of my holiday shopping here! (Clothes, home goods, outdoor gear, travel items) I know that people complain about the prices, but I think it is worth it. The quality and the lifetime guarantee keep me as a regular customer. It is important to note that nothing truly lasts a lifetime, so in my opinion, a lifetime guarantee should NOT cover normal wear and tear, change in fit due to weight loss or weight gain etc. Plenty of parking can be found even during the busy times. Covered parking is available, but it is fairly limited. There is plenty of parking in the "Village" and on and off Main Street. The only reason I can't provide 5-stars is because the customer service can be hit-or-miss. read more

You can find some great deals here but not everything is a steal. This is a real outlet store in that you will have to dig around to find what you want and there's a true hodgepodge of stock. If you want to find good stuff expect to take the time to look around and browse areas outside your size range since items can be scattered all over the place. Here my husband and I found some boots for 30% off, a soft shell jacket for $60 off, a heavy windbreaker for $60 off and some long johns for $12. I have more heavy canvas tote bags from LL Bean than I care to admit but if I needed one I probably could have found a few (with or without someone else's custom monogramming). If I had a bit more time and patience we probably could have found a few more things but I was glad to get what we did then leave the mild chaos in the shop behind. read more

If you have the time to really look through the different items they have some amazing deals. We got a 100% wool throw (super warm) for 75% off. I was looking for a few specific things and I was never once told, "what we have it out" or "if you don't see it we don't have it" like most other stores. Staff really helped and was fun to boot. Quick Tip: Do not buy anything at LL Bean without checking the outlet first!! My husband and I took a drive up to Freeport on our most recent trip to Southern Maine. We couldn't resist a photo with the giant LL Bean Boot, and the many moose & other animals. The entire LL Bean Campus is amazing: The Home Store, the Fishing & Hunting Store, the "Main" Store, and the OUTLET across the street. We all know LL Bean products are pricy: quite warranted due to their amazing quality and lifetime warrantee. BUT, if you check the outlet, you may be able to find exactly what you're looking for 20, 30, .... even up to 60+% off! I've had my eye on some fur-lined Bean boots for a while now (which are typically excluded from coupons), and also needed a new winter coat (heavy duty for those really arctic New England days). I've been hesitant to order online because I always like to try items on first, so when I was able to find them BOTH in the outlet store at 30% off - I grabbed them quick! It is more of a "self serve store" (and can get a bit crowded), but was actually an easier experience for me. At the full price store, the line to get assisted was so long and they were out of many boot sizes so I was growing impatient. Here at the outlet, I found my size, grabbed them, and found a bench to try them on - easy peasy. I'm about a 7.5/8, which is a very common size, so when they had 4 pair in my size, and even an 8 wide (harder to find!), I was shocked (and excited)! So glad I finally got my Bean Boots, even more glad they were 30% off! The line was quick, and the cashier was friendly. I wish we went one week later - they were setting up for their wonderful Northern Lights Celebration at LL Bean with Christmas lights, Santa, Reindeer, Wagon rides and a train.
