My girlfriends and I decided to have our last wine down Wednesday's at Uncorked. It's located in the shopping center where Nantucket Grill is, along with 13 Tacos & Tapas. There's plenty of parking in the parking lot. There were several other patrons when I arrived. We were celebrating a birthday and I forgot to bring the gift...how perfectly that they have gift bags for wine. I let the owner know and she brought everything to me, I just had to let her know that I wanted a bottle of red. While we waited for everyone else to arrive, we ordered food. We ordered the crab & shrimp dip, two of the flatbreads, the El Jefe & the Pear Brie & Bacon. The dip comes with warm pitas, it was tasty. The flatbeds were really good, especially the El Jefe, we ordered a second one. The combination is something I'd never think to put together, but went together perfectly. Since we were celebrating a birthday we also had the creme brûlée...delicious. The wine!!! So when I arrived, my friend was just getting the red wine flight, she loved each of them. I tried the Cabernet Sauvignon, so perfect and smooth. We had the best time & are looking forward to going back at least monthly. It's super cute & there's plenty of seating. I finally had a chance to check out Uncorked while out on a first date. The location is within a strip mall and right next to a Mexican restaurant. A nice idea for plans for dinner prior or after. The Service and R&B music were excellent here but my date and I find the wine unimpressive. We decided to order 2 flights, so that we could really give everything a fair chance. Riesling is a favorite of mine so I went with that. I also had Chardonnay (not a favorite), red and something similar to Malbec. I only enjoyed the Riesling. This is a very quaint wine shop, there is not a lot of space or seating but it's perfect for just two. read more

Great place to go if, like me, you're still figuring out what wines you like, and/or want to try before committing to a full glass. I haven't been to any other place that has these (apparently now very popular) pay by card, vending spouts, so this was a new concept for me. I like it! Even if you prefer a human person to pour your tastes, don't discount Uncorked as the owner and personnel there are quite helpful and friendly. Their offerings are quite diverse and vary in price so there is something for everyone. For eats my husband and I shared a flat bread, a cheese plate and a salad, all of which were fresh and delicious. I particularly enjoy the decor. Uncorked has a warm, Tuscany feel to it. As with many establishments in Raleigh you almost forget you're in a strip mall. But you are, and there's parking and it's easy to get to. I love to come here anytime I want to go to a winery for a tasting but don't have the time for a day trip to Boone or the beach. I'm a fan! read more

Thanks to a Living Social, Sis & I decided to do our monthly Dinner/Wine-Out here, and we were so glad we did! Atmosphere is rustic, yet warm (which is good because it was a COLD night)...only thing missing is a fireplace. Fortunately there is plenty of wine to keep you warm. Apparently they have sold a bunch of these Living Socials because that was the first question out of our Server's mouth...were we there for that? Yeppers! With our deal came a bottle of wine, two house salads, two flatbreads and one shared dessert. Sis paid just twenty-five bucks or so for this feast and feast we did. We were asked what kind of wine we wanted, but when we said Chardonnay, were told another table got "the last bottle". No biggee, it was a cold red kind of night, so Red we did. We started with small but fresh and tasty salads with mandarin oranges (not usually Sis's thing, but she liked it fine) and a good balsamic. We got our choice of several flatbreads. Chose a seasonal one that had Chicken, Bacon, Mustard and cheeses. Along with one with fig, prosciutto and arugula. Both were quite good and bigger than we expected. (Sis took a piece of each home). We finished off our pleasant experience with a really yummy Berry Tart with ice cream. (there were several desserts to choose from). Overall we really liked this place and were so glad that Living Social led us here, since it is quite close to home for both of us. Visited here with girlfriends. PROS: I thought the place was quaint with a diverse wine selection. We each ordered a bottle to drink there, which seemed to puzzle the owner at first. Yes, we're winos and can drink a bottle each. Usually places like this, the food is meh. We tried the Margherita and Italian flatbreads, spinach salad, artichoke and crab dips, all of which were surprisingly tasty. The patio was comfortable and pleasant and to be such a small place, there was enough seating (inside and patio) for the amount of people that showed up. Live music was enjoyable. You kinda forgot you're in a strip mall. CONS: Was glad when more customers showed up as it was kind of awkward with the staff just standing around staring at us. Soooooooooooooo ..... I was super excited to try this place I came in with all the enthusiasm and optimism in the world.. a black owned wine spot yess!! However I must say I was quite disappointed.. there was one guy who was working (Edgar) so he was struggling which would not have been that bad if his customer service was a bit better .. he wasn't rude just a very matter of fact nonchalant sort of attitude (may have been a cultural thing) Then we ordered the crab dip but they didn't have it.. then we ordered a beer flight and they didn't have one of the beers so my husband ordered another kind of beer for the flight and they didn't have that one either lol I just wanted things to get better but it just never did maybe it was a bad night not sure if they will get a second chance from us but we tried it. read more

We checked this place out last night (had a Living Social that was about to expire in a few days). The service was amazing. The entire team works together so we ended up chatting with 4 different employees. The spinach dip was pretty good but not the best I've ever had but the bruschetta was downright AMAZING (and I've been to Italy) so I was super impressed! I didn't even get to take a picture fast enough before we started devouring it. They also had this chocolate cake they make in house and it was to die for. When the gentleman next to me received a larger glass and normal pour of wine I didn't question it because I thought my pour was the special. Until I paid my bill and it was higher than expected. I've been here numerous times as I used to live a mile away. It really is a cute place, great ambiance, and nice wine selection! There is most likely a wine for any wine drinker at this wine bar. Prices are definitely reasonable as well. However, the food could be just a bit better. When I drink wine I love a delicious snack to accompany my wine and I wish they had a few more options. I ordered the chicken salad on a bed of lettuce and it literally had two tablespoons of chicken salad. Granted, they let me give it back & took it off the bill. Their flatbreads are pretty good. One other thing is that in regards to their wine dispensers, white wine should always be kept in the fridge for back up. I believe two times that I have been I have had to wait for a second glass of wine for at least 15 minutes just because they didn't have a bottle cold. It only took moving away from North Raleigh to realize just how many awesome things there are on that side of town! Uncorked is hidden away in a pretty plain shopping center, but once inside you can see this place is cozy, friendly and full of great wines! We decided to try the self serve wine taps along with a meat and cheese board. The wines I tried were all very tasty (and pretty decently priced with options of a taste, a half glass or full) and the meat and cheese board was plentiful with two meats, two cheese, olives, jam, almonds and french bread. While it took a moment for the waitress to find us (it was pretty busy) she was great! Lots of hospitality and banter for our table! I was in the area for work and looking for a place to meet up with a few female coworkers. Love the concept as we could choose wine from the bar which was being showcased for Wine Wednesday (house wine for a special price), or the wine wall. The wine wall was really neat. They give you a card and you can select as many options as you like. With each wine, you could choose a taste, a half glass, or a full glass. I believe it was $1.00, $3.50, and $7.00 respectively. Uncorked is a charming place to go, whether you are looking for a bottle of wine or beer or a place to eat. Their wine selection is outstanding. While Total Wine might have more total bottles to choose from, Uncorked has a huge advantage in two areas. First, they are selective. All the wines are good. There is a good variety in terms of price range and you can almost definitely find something to appeal to your taste. Second, their wine dispensing machines. With a pre-paid card, you can have a taste, half-glass, or full-glass of dozens of excellent wines. The value is great, and you can try before you buy a bottle. And it's a great place to go to just sit back and enjoy a few good wines. Their beer selection, while small, features many excellent micro-brews. And they always have several on tap. The cafe features some of the best food you can find in North Raleigh, and the service is friendly. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a small bar. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. This is definitely my favorite place to eat in the Falls River area. And that's saying something, because there are a ton of great restaurants around here! Uncorked is one of my favorite hangouts, whether its to drop in for a glass of wine or beer, to chat with the owner about wine selections, or to share a meal with family and friends. Thanks to an Amazon Local deal, Mrs. B and I checked out Uncorked recently. When we pulled up and were walking towards the place I was a little curious since it didn't appear to have any seating for eating (which was what our deal was for). Turns out the front half is the wine shop and the seating is in the back. It isn't a big place. The decor is warm and cozy with a bit of a rustic euro feel to it. I liked the wooden wine racks in the shop area with a bottle resting on top for easy viewing and the rest stacked horizontally beneath it. Mrs. B was pretty excited about the wine stations along the wall. She got a card, loaded some funds on it, and got to work trying some wine after we ordered our food. The wine stations offer up to 48 different wines to try. You can get a sample, half, or whole glass worth of wine. They also have a few craft beers on tap and I opted to try a few of those which come in a full or half pint size. The food menu is pretty limited. A couple of salads, some appetizers, a couple of sandwiches, etc. Mrs. B got the turkey and brie panini, and I went for a white bean chili which was on the specials board. When the food came out I initially thought it seemed a bit of a small portion given the price, but wasn't so concerned after I tasted it. The food is good! Quality over quantity wins. Realizing we had a few more dollars we could use with our Amazon certificate we got the pimento cheese dip as kind of a dessert. They don't offer any actual desserts based on the menu. Maybe in the future. It was surprisingly busy in there on a Wednesday night thanks to a party of about 8 ladies. The service was good given that it was one waitress (who mentioned she was filling in) and the owner. Our food took a bit longer to come out as Mrs. B's order apparently got misread and they had to remake it. The waitress was nice and informed us when she knew what had happened. They even comped us each a drink for the wait (without us even requesting). Not that we weren't sold before, but that sealed the deal. read more

This is a nice little wine store in North Raleigh. The decor feels like a winery and is very attractive without being "over the top". Free wine tastings are Fridays from 5 - 7 pm. You can also purchase a sample card that lets you choose from 48 wines that are "on tap" and get either a sample (1 oz), 1/2 glass (2.5 oz) or full glass (5 oz). That is very unique, and I found it both helpful and fun. About 80% of their wines are $20 or less, so it is reasonably priced, but they also have a nice selection of more expensive wines. Plus they are giving a 10% discount on half-cases and 15% on full-cases through 3/10/10. Since the store is kind of small, you won't find the selection that exists at a place like Total Wine, but they have over 400 wines in house, and 500 more coming from around the world. They don't have a lot of info displayed about the wines to help you choose (at least not yet). The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they have nice, free, reusable bags for your purchases by the half-case. read more

Overall I really liked this place. One of the new owners we met was very friendly and helpful. The baked brie and flat bread was delicious and priced right. I love it that they have added to their beer selection and have some good quality local beers. Beer is discounted on Saturday nights. The outdoor seating area is really nice and there was live music on the weekends. I really want to make this my go to neighborhood hang out but there is one big problem that they need to address. The price of the wine in the dispensers is far too high for them to hit the correct target audience. I was there on a Saturday night and I didn't see anyone using the dispensers. The portion sizes are far too small for the price being charged. A full pour should be 2/3 of a glass but is current about 1/3 of a medium size wine glass. In my mind the cost for the small "taste" portion should be dropped by at least half. The entire idea is to entice people to try a lot of wine, find something they love so they can then buy more wine! I hope they address these issues quickly before they receive more reviews like this. I really want them to succeed and everything else is great about this place. Don't let the wine cost hold you back as they have a lot more to offer. read more

After girls nite out at our favorite sushi place, we were looking for something else to do in the Falls River area. We saw Uncorked and decided to try it out. I'm so glad we did!!! The decor reminds you of a 'real winery', selections are huge and the staff/owner was very knowledgeable. They have a 'wall of wine' that allows you to try several reds and whites from 4 different wine regions - Mediterranean, Europe, etc... The tasting wines rotate regularly, so you get a chance to experience something new every time you visit. So, here's how it works. You purchase a 'wine card' and load your choice of $$ onto the card. You are then given a glass and can peruse the 'wall of wine' until you decide what to try. Insert the card (like a debit card), punch the wine of your choice and yea!!!!, tasting begins! 3 options are given for trying a wine: a taste, 1/2 glass, or full glass. Prices start at $1.00 per taste and go up depending upon the type of wine, amount you want to try, region etc... Uncorked also has appetizers, so you can make an evening of 'noshing and wine tasting'. You can sip to your hearts delight and then buy a bottle of what you like the best. I also understand they have free wine tastings periodically and you can sign up to receive an email about these and any other events they do. I will go back again and again! I called ahead of time to let the establishment know I was bringing friends to celebrate my mom's birthday. I got all questions answered by their amazing wait staff. Upon arrival, I was greeted with the following: a patient, accommodating staff, an incredibly kind owner, & a chef who prepared delicious treats. The wine & coffee bar is beautiful. Men: this is Chick Central on Thursday nights. I was in there one Thursday and I was the only male of about twenty patrons. Uncorked is the best place I know to taste lots of wines for minimal cost. You purchase a $30 plastic card and get $30 worth of credits. You put the card into one of several automated wine coolers, select the size of your pour and violà! On Thursdays, a $30 card costs just $25. On Tuesdays, Buy a $30 card and you get all food half-price. They also have about six beers on tap. Menu features salads, flatbread pizzas, paninis, charcuterie and cheeses. Note: all seating is bar stools with high tables (no low seating). About my ratings: Only fine dining establishments can garner five stars. Until yelp realizes that a fast food joint cannot possibly be ranked equally with a $100 per person place, I need to draw the line somewhere. If we were only talking about the quality and presentation of the food, it would be a different story. But, as we know, yelp's rankings take into account the entire dining experience. Therefore, I divide restaurants into three categories (and I wish yelp would do the same): 1) fast food and "fast-casual" (no table service). 2) casual dining (table service, average entrée price: $10-$20). 3) fine dining (linen napkins, no plastic cups, no TV's in dining room, average entrée priced at more than $20). I was impressed with this new little wine shop in the Falls River Town Center. They have very cool sampling setup of about 20 wines. You can purchase debit cards and load them with money, then insert the card into the wine sampling station where you can purchase a sample, half-glass, or full glass of the wine. They have a small bar area in the back of the store where you can sit and talk. While we were there, they were hosting a free tasting of sparkling wines and there were about 20 people there. Free wi-fi too. Wide range of prices, seems to start ~$10 but quickly moves to $20-30 and up. I think they said they had ~400 labels in stock. I'd give it five stars if they had a bigger selection of sub $12 wines, but that is my personal preference. Anyone who really likes wine should love this place. I fell in love with this place last night! I had a livingsocial deal that brought me here - $25 for a bottle of wine, two salads, two flatbreads and a shared dessert. It was worth every bit and more. The food was delicious, our waitress was very nice, and apparently they have weekly free tastings and sometimes live music. The place was so cute with a fabulous chandelier in the middle of the shop, cute little tables all around, self-serve wine dispensers, and fun knick-knacks for any wine-lover. They also serve coffee and snacks, so they really have it all for such a small spot. My friend said they have an outdoor patio space too for warmer months - such a great place to come to hang and most definitely a great date place (*fellas, take note). I've always found Raleigh to be a charming city, but oftentimes it would require a trip downtown for the true experience. While visiting friends this past weekend, my best friend and I ventured to Uncorked in North Raleigh on Friday evening, and what a splendid place it is! It was a full house on Friday due to the rain, leaving only indoor seating available. However, we were able to find a high-top immediately and begin our venture in wine tasting, both with our card and wine dispensers as well as the wine tasting that Uncorked was having that evening unbeknownst to us until the owner's husband Paul asked if we had tried them. We had not, and with that, he personally brought the wine to our table and served and discussed the different wines with us. While enjoying the many different flavors of the night, we shared the Finding Nemo salad that featured two delectable crab cakes, the perfect portion for each of us. Our waitress had recently started but was quick to talk through the menu as well as answer any questions. The bartender was also a fine gentleman who helped us choose the two bottles we ended up purchasing from the wine tasting. Overall, the experience was beyond exceptional and I highly recommend a visit. If you stop in, tell Paul that the girl from Houston is singing their praises.
