I've been here twice and both times were mediocre. Prices are high for the amount of food that you get. For the positives, they have a good menu and the atmosphere inside is nice. Both times the service has been satisfactory but nothing particularly stood out on either visit. Uncommon Ground is walking distance to Wrigley Field which makes it convenient to grab lunch or dinner before the game. My boyfriend and I met up with some Chicago friends before the game on this last visit. I tried the fish and chips and the boyfriend had the mac and cheese with chorizo. Both were underwhelming. The fish was mostly batter and three small pieces of fish. Flavor was good and fries were hot and crispy but for $21 it felt like tastier fish sticks. The mac and cheese with chorizo was again good but portion was small for $25. My Chicago friends had the grilled chicken sandwich and it looked big. Maybe it depends on what you order but I doubt I'll give it a third try.

Excellent all around- Excellent location, Excellent food, excellent beer, and excellent service. The service was top notch from the moment we called in about sitting on the patio and continued throughout our visit. We were just looking for a place close to Wrigley to eat before the game that wasn't just pizza or wings and this place far exceeded our expectations. The tuna tartare was my favorite bite. I could have ordered a second one. The calamari and the lemon cake were my wife's favorites. It was a reaaly unique version of calamari that was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The gochujang worked really well with the fry on the calamari and the fresh lettuce and lemon wedges. The lemon cake was super flavorful and came with a divine fresh strawberry sauce. The beers were very good. It was clear to see why their Bateman bier won the 2024 GABF amgold for category. Being able to sample the beers before committing was also quite nice. We also had the Certifiable Apa and Uncommon Saison and they both smacked as well. The patio was a delightful find for the city as the surrounding garden tranported you somewhere else while still being quite clearly in the city. It is a magical space with very heavily oxygenated air due to all the plants on either side.

Great organic restaurant in the heart of Wrigleyville. Greenstar brewing is also on site. The food is very tasty and they go the extra mile to use sustainable ingredients across the board. The staff is excellent and the vibe is vibrant and cozy. I highly recommend a reservation and if you have a concert at Metro or are heading to Wrigley, this is a great pre game spot.

First time in to catch some great live music from a close friend, the music space seats approximately 50, the tap beer was great, and I saw many featured cocktails make their way across the room. My wife and I split the veggie vegan stir fry and you could tell from how the vegetables were cooked that it was better than your average stir fry. The music space is cozy and there is an awkward restroom option stage left, but there are additional restrooms off the main room. They are not giving anything away here, you will pay handsomely, it is Wrigleyville after all, but it is a nice space with good eats and beverage options, think date night.

My husband came here with his dad before a Cubs game about a month ago, so when we went to a Cubs game a couple of weeks ago, this was the place my husband suggested to go beforehand. Therefore, he thought it was solid enough to bring me here for the first time! We made a reservation because we all know the Wrigleyville area can be crazy with people, and it was smart of us to make it because the restaurant was pretty busy when we got there. When we arrived, the host sat us at a cute 2-person table next to the bar area. Despite us being here on the rainiest day, the restaurant was brightly lit because of the large windows in the dining room. My husband informed me that there were more rooms in the restaurant that we couldn't see and that the room we were seated in was a bit different than the one he previously sat in. I LOVED the aesthetic of the room, and I loved that we were in the brightly lit one where we could see the bar, front door, and the street. We ended up staying at the restaurant later than planned because we watched the pouring rain outside. Service-wise, our waiter was extremely nice and friendly. He asked if we had been there before, and he then gave some drink suggestions. He checked on us throughout our visit and was accommodating. The food was amazing! On Saturdays and Sundays, they have a brunch menu that you order from, and I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy ($15). I am not exaggerating when I say this, but it was AMAZING and the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had. The gravy with the sausage was so flavorful and had a bit of spice. It was the PERFECT balance of a creamy texture. My husband ordered the Farmer's Market Scramble ($18), which has cheddar cheese, kale, asparagus, and red peppers. He got the side salad and a side of sausage links ($6). He LOVED his food and said that he could taste how fresh all of the ingredients were. The last time he came here, he ordered the Avocado Toast ($17) and loved that, as well, which is why he wanted to come back here and try something new. The drinks I ordered were great, as well! I ordered the Beermosa ($11) and also a Cubbie-Rita ($14). However, the waiter said that the machine that makes the Cubbie-Rita was broken at the time, so they made mine by hand, so honestly, mine might have been better than the machine one anyway! Haha Overall, I will ABSOLUTELY be back here, especially before any Cubs game we come to. The dining room is gorgeous, the food is delicious, and the service is friendly.

    Chilaquiles
    Clay G.

I came here for brunch after running a 5k in Wrigley. Nothing hits quite like a mimosa after a good run, so I had to order the mimosa flight. They were pretty tasty and had a good variety of flavors. For food, I got the chilaquiles. Being basically breakfast nachos, they have everything you could ever want. Uncommon Ground has some of the better chilaquiles I've had in the city. They have a cute outdoor space as well as seating inside. The bees were out and they love juice, so it made more sense to sit inside which is a shame because it was a beautiful day. Hopefully some other time I can sit outside. Lastly, the service was very good. They were very accommodating and food came out very quickly.

    Helen's Chicken Sandwich was crazy...

This was a 5 star chicken sandwich and the whole experience was delicious and on point. Was recommended by our hotel staff and they didn't disappoint at all. All of the ingredients were fresh, wholesome, and even felt healthy. Great place to dine if in the city. I will be back.

Vegan Cesar Small (after the broccoli removal)

My friend and I were starving and ordered two vegan Caesar salads for pickup. She said it was her favorite meal there and it was amazing. She said that this is the first time she ever had it with uncooked broccoli. Now both she and I couldn't eat the uncooked broccoli because it hurts our little tummies too much for uncooked cruciferous vegetables. So once we took it out, we had literally half the size salad. We both did NOT have any avocado, barely ANY brussel sprouts and I'm almost positive I had one piece of kale. So needless to say we were both very disappointed. THAT said the salad we did eat was very good. The dressing was great and the croutons were nice and crispy. I can't comment on the service aside from the fact that it was ready when promised. And we didn't eat IN so I can't speak to the ambiance or cleanliness, etc. The salad was very good, just not as it was expected. And not as the menu suggests :)

Funky, fun, & friendly We visited on an overcast Thursday evening and were not disappointed! The cute garden outside had fun Edison-style bulbs and was very dog-friendly. Our pups made friends with the staff and were given a bowl of water. The wine and beer selection was solid without being overwhelming. While there wasn't an overwhelming amount of gluten-free options, there were more than enough options to find something. Uncommon Ground had interesting flavor combos in their salmon dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the crunch on the outside of moist salmon on a bed of avocado and berry purees. I was surprised at how well the flavors balanced each other beautifully! The flourless chocolate torte (GF) was a delicious and rich ending to a good meal! Tip: The carrot cake the table next to us ordered looked amazing! Unfortunately, they ordered one of the last slices so our group didn't get the chance to taste.

A friend and I were looking for a place to grab some food and a drink before a concert at Wrigley. My friend is vegetarian and she felt they had the most vegetarian options. We were also intrigued by the "organic" beer brewed here. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. I honestly would give this experience 1.5 stars. We were immediately seated and it took over 15 minutes for any of the staff to acknowledge us. What's of note is that most of the staff members were talking to each other at the bar. After making eye contact with multiple servers who walked away from us, we were finally offered water and a server came to talk with us. The people next to us said they were waiting over an hour for cocktails. None of the staff were apologetic for the wait to either of our tables. We had two different servers. Because of the wait we immediately ordered and had to wait about 20 minutes for our food. Which was warm at best and pretty lackluster for the price. I got the burger and beer special, which everything was small and you have to get the Mac and Cheese (which I was okay with getting but seemed odd you couldn't get fries). The Mac and cheese was pretty tasteless and quite honestly tasted boxed. I got the Love on the Run and it was pretty decent. However, it was only 8 ounces and it felt like I got two samples as opposed to an actual drink with my meal. This burger and beer "combo" was $25.... My friend got the Black Bean burger and said she had better ones from Costco. The fries did taste pretty good and would have been a nice option for my burger as well. It should be of note the fries were not included in my friend's burger either. Her portions were also really small. The atmosphere looks pretty cool and there is art for purchase. It seems Uncommon also gives opportunities for local artists to perform. Those were cool touches. Overall, I don't think I will be back here for a very long time. I've had better experiences in Wrigleyville compared to this experience with Uncommon Ground.

Beautiful weather in Chicago so we came here to sit in the patio area and it was very nice. Our server was really nice and the food was quick. He was very attentive but not overly. I like that they bring a carafe of water to the table. I got the stuffed French toast with crispy brussel sprouts! It was delicious! Gotta say the brussels were the star! Just so yummy and crispy! The menu looks amazing and can't wait to go back to try other things! My sister and BIL got soup/salad and steak & eggs. Both said they were really good!

What a great brunch spot in Lakeview/Wrigleyville! We were visiting some friends in the area, and this place was recommended by them. They were great about taking online reservations for a large group. This restaurant is a lot bigger than you think! Lots of different rooms, plus a full bar. We were originally in the front of the restaurant, but it was so hot near the window we asked to move to the back - and Uncommon Ground was quick to accommodate! We were squeezed a bit, but understood we were a large group asking to switch spots. Service overall was kind and quick as well! To drink, I didn't see an espresso martini on the menu, but I asked and they delivered! I was shocked at how great this drink was for not being on the menu. It wasn't too creamy but still really had some sweetness to it. Great for brunch! The table also split some cheese curds and brussels sprouts to start. The cheese curds were good, but nothing special by Minnesota standards. Brussels sprouts were roasty and delicious. The star of the show was the Sunrise Sammy - which just about every at the table ordered. It was hearty and delicious - a great way to start the day. I wouldn't recommend the side salad, since it really was just leaves and dressing and the crispy potatoes looked much better. Overall, great spot in the area for brunch!

    Strawberry pancakes
    Christina H.

My friend and I split the strawberry pancakes and the chilaquiles and it was pretty average. The pancakes were my favorite- soft and fluffy, plus not too sweet. The chilaquiles were kind of bland, but the portion sizes were large and filling. I was most disappointed with the coffee. I ordered an iced lavender latte and it tasted like straight up milk. I even had to order another espresso shot to add in and it didn't make it any better. With that price, you're better off going elsewhere for coffee. Service was pretty quick so that was good.

The staff were super friendly too and gave us some awesome recommendations, which definitely helped because there were so many things I wanted to try. I ordered the Harissa Shakshuka, it came with roasted peppers, onions, tomatoes, garbanzo beans, goat cheese, and two poached eggs, served with sourdough toast. When it came out, the presentation immediately caught my attention. The two poached eggs were sitting right on top of this beautiful, rich sauce, with the goat cheese scattered throughout. Once I cut into the eggs and that runny yolk mixed into everything underneath... wow. The flavor was outstanding. The tomatoes and roasted peppers gave the dish a deep, slightly sweet and savory base, while the harissa added a warm, smoky heat that slowly built with each bite. The garbanzo beans were soft and tender, adding this really nice texture. And the sourdough toast was perfect for this. I could scoop up the sauce, egg yolk, beans, and peppers all in one bite. That's when the dish really came together. This was a seriously delicious breakfast. Every bite had something going on, and I'd definitely order it again.

It was creamy, flavorful, and exactly how coleslaw should be. The three-piece fish fry was tasty as well, although the batter was a bit too thick for my liking. The biggest disappointment was the Parsons Big Dipper Platter. According to the menu, it included hush puppies, chicken nuggets, and fried shrimp. Unfortunately, when the platter arrived, there was no shrimp included. We brought it to the waiter's attention, and only then were we informed they had run out of shrimp. It would have been nice to know that before ordering. It's surprising for such a busy restaurant to run out of an item that's featured on the menu. As for the service, unfortunately it was poor and inattentive. We constantly had to flag our waiter down anytime we needed something. Back Again - Gemini Pt 2, but this time for brunch!…read more I enjoyed my first dinner experience here so much last week that we had to come right back to try their weekend brunch. From the start, the hostesses were inviting and lovely. The restaurant is very pretty, warmly blending a modern style with a touch of classic French bistro elegance. I'm mostly so impressed with how versatile the restaurant actually can be, shifting seamlessly from an elegant, upscale dinner setting with its beautiful U-shaped marble bar to a bright, whimsical, and enchantingly airy brunch setting. The fully opened bifold windows are adjacent to the pergola-topped patio, letting a glorious, cascading breeze drift through the space to create a wonderful indoor-outdoor flow and a lively weekend energy. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered: Super Green Vegetable Salad: The kale, broccoli, avocado, asparagus, and peas were crisp and fresh. We loved this so much during our first dinner visit last week that we had to order it again for brunch! Spectacular! Nova Lox Platter: The wild salmon topped with diced red onion, capers, and hard-boiled egg crumble, served with an everything bagel and a side of chive cream cheese, was excellent. French Onion Frittata: The rich gruyère and caramelized onions were wonderful. If you're a French onion soup lover like me, this is a can't-miss!! Definitely will be reordered and often. Fantastic! Daily Omelette: Ordered from the special menu, featuring black truffle salsa, mascarpone, and Calabrian chile honey. It was absolutely phenomenal, perfectly cooked, and the flavor combination was incredible. Our server, Sarah, was excellent and made the experience even better - we even share the same name! The management team was also incredibly warm and attentive, stopping by our table to welcome us back. Returning twice in one week says it all. This restaurant has made it into my regular rotation and is hands down one of my new favorites!

Over all this place was okay, and when I say okay it was mediocre…read more How ever I would like to point out that the staff and I repeat the staff was very friendly not to mention very welcoming. I came here with three others and we all ordered different things from the brunch menu along with a few drinks. The atmosphere here is open, modern, and pretty eye catching, we all heard a few negative comments about brunch here and rather than just taking words of advice we came anyways. To be honest we should've went elsewhere, the only thing about the food that actually seemed to have any flavor was the fries and even they were a little salty like my wallet when we left LOL The Jumbo (not so much) Lump Crab Benedict at $25 was honestly boring lacking any flavor also it didn't even come with potatoes I ended up sharing my Lincoln Park Turkey Club that was good but even it was pretty basic at $21, the Burger at $21 literally looked like something off the kids menu the bun was bigger than the patty LOL and the Blackened Chicken Caesar at $19 was more like an appetizer size and the chicken at least it was juicy not dry. Other reviews about brunch here seem to be about the same and honestly I think it's funny they don't even try to elevate their food when so many say about the same things. I think the only reason why people come to this place is 1. It's located in Lincoln Park and 2. that makes it a trendy spot to eat. So why bother fixing anything when it's just trendy and flavorless Their brunch is mediocre but apparently dinner is where it's at. However after the experience with brunch I'm not even sure I would even go back. Come here for the staff eat at your own expense maybe your food will have flavor or not but honestly do what you want and keep it trendy
