A few years ago Uncle Tetsu became the hottest cheesecake in all of East and Southeast Asia. In China, Japan, Taiwan and Hongkong, you'd find lines stretching out so long even during the middle of the day. Finally, Uncle Tetsu has arrived in the Philippines.
I first tried Uncle Tetsu in Shanghai and I didn't understand what was so special about it that people would wait for hours just to buy a piece. I tried it again here in Manila and my opinion still stands.
Japanese food is very good, but they do sweets very differently. They prefer desserts not too sweet or too heavy. Case in point, the Uncle Tetsu cheesecake is very light and fluffy as opposed to American cheesecakes which are very dense, creamy, heavy and super sweet. I think Filipinos would favor American style desserts more. Just a thought. read more
