Yummy light cheesecake but really it doesn't taste like an American cheesecake. It's more of an asian spongecake. They have various flavors for $14 each. When I went they had cookies and cream, ube, strawberry, pandan coconut and original. The ube had a nice purple but really no taste. The pandan coconut was the best. They have smaller size for you to purchase for $7 if you want to sample flavors. Next time I am definitely getting the pandan one for $14! read more

The fluffy Japanese cheesecake is absolutely delicious. If you don't like a cake that's too sweet this is the perfect option. The cheesecake is fluffy too, so don't expect a super dense cake like a traditional cake. I have ordered the strawberry, original, and ube cheesecake and all were delicious. During certain seasons, they will also offer limited flavors like black sesame or rose. The cake is about a foot in diameter so just keep that in mind. Outside of the cheesecake, the establishment is clean, but the staff are not the friendliest. When you walk in, there's no proper welcome or any offer of assistance. The staff will quietly wait at the register. read more

Burnt cheesecake? No customer service? This place is a joke. Used to love uncle tetsu when they first opened but the quality and service has gone downhill. When I purchased this basque cheesecake the staff reassured me this is normal when I pointed out how burnt and unusually dark it is. When I got to eat the dessert after dinner, my friends and I both couldn't believe if we were eating charcoals or food- bitter, dry and it's that burnt. Look at the crackly burnt top and mushroom cloud looking cake- this is ridiculous. read more

Absolutely love them! I saw this place while waiting for my bf to go to dinner and I knew I wouldn't leave the area without trying them. They are located in a strip mall with parking but with popular places so it might be hard at times to park. They have full sized cakes and the smaller "personal" portions. The lady behind the counter was super patient with us and gave us the list of what they had available for personal portions. We tried 2 flavors the first time but of course we had to be back and tried something else. Every single one of the cakes we have tried has been super fluffy and not giving you the choking feeling. They are sweet but not overwhelming sweet which is dangerous because I was able to eat one in one seating! I have tried the basque cake, original and cookies and cream. They were all super tasty! read more

Time for an update! I order Uber Eats from this Japanese style cheesecake store from time to time. I'v only been to the actual store couple times I think. The services were very friendly each time. The store is tiny and smell so good from all the cheesecakes they are making. They have cookies and cheese tarts which is great for portion control. I can never finish a whole cheesecake by myself. For cookies I love matcha and ube flavors. For cheesecake I still love the burnt basque flavor the most. A great dessert place for sugar and carbs fix! read more

Ordered: Chocolate, Matcha, Ube and Original Cheese tart for the first time and I just want to say, definitely worth it! It's not too sweet too. The ube really does tastes like ube! I also got the ube cheesecake, so soft and not too sweet which I prefer! I would definitely go back and try the others! read more

Have been customer for a long period of time, even not a frequent one. The cheesecake quality is usually good but it is not the case today. Don't know if it is because of the national cheesecake day promotion. Once I open the top, i immediately noticed there is difference in the cake. The top is pale without the signature logo and the paper is sticked to the top of the cake. I am not a good baker but this comes to me that this cake is not bake at correct procedure. Hopefully it will come back to normal standard next time I come. read more

Do yourself a favor and get the tarts. The workers here are so nice, especially Miranda! I was in between the original and their black sesame (seasonal offering) and she went ahead and gave me both to try. Such great service and both were equally good though I am a fan of the original. Would definitely come back because it's so good and the service is awesome read more

Happy to share with coworkers and they loved it. Definitely will buy again and try other flavors. Great for any occasion gift .

Uncle tetsu still does it best. Say what you will about 85°, they've gone warehouse flavor and not at all enticing otherwise than hungry window shopping. Their new burnt basque cheesecake is rich and light like eating a cool mango sorbet that somehow melts like snowflake-hot chocolate. The size is small but substantial, eating it by the sporkful is decadent enough, it takes several days to finish one whole one. Well worth the price and the pounds that come with it. Their little cheese tarts are a little too melty for my liking but the shortcrust dough held up very well and all the flavors speak of tradition. Uncle Tetsu, thanks for keeping it so delicious every time!! read more

Bought the cookies n cream cookies via doordash. I've had the cookies before, they're my fav, so I was surprised when these balls of cookie dough arrived. I bit into one thinking they changed the cookies, but it just wasn't cooked/prepared correctly. I called to ask if they changed the cookies and was told no....and when I explained my cookies weren't prepared properly, I was told its because the cookies have too much cookies and cream crumb.....definitely not the case. Pretty disappointed, I bought 2 boxes and the cookies were gross, not cheap read more

High quality, fast, + affordable, I can always rely on Uncle Tetsu cheesecakes. I wanted to pick up a treat for my friend's birthday and I was in and out of the store within 2 minutes (with 1 of the minutes with me deciding which flavor to get haha). I ended up going with the seasonal coffee cheesecake! However, the plain, original flavor is also perfect for those who don't like overly sweet desserts or for those with sensitive stomachs w/ low appetites. read more

It's been several years I haven't had some Uncle Tetsu cheesecakes. The only place I knew of was at the Del Amo mall, so far away from me now so a checked it out here on Yelp if by any chance there's one nearby and glad to know that they do have one near me. And by surprise they have added more items in their menu. They now have small cheese tarts and basques. Of course I took to try them all. I stayed on original flavors. I loved all of them. What's there to complain about? I found none in all honesty. By the way, their team were very friendly and greeted me upon arrival and also helped me with some questions I had. It is a small place to just take out, even better to enjoy some home made coffee at home with a slice of Japanese fluffy cheesecake. They are so well balanced, not so sweet in my taste, just perfect. They do have plenty of parking and so that's always a plus. Loved my visit that day. read more

Maybe I'm just a hater but I found the whole cake pretty underwhelming. The pillowy texture of the cheesecake is on point. Didn't feel dry at all. The flavors were just too muted to add anything new. I like cheesecake with a more sour cheese component so maybe this just wasn't for me. The oreo "flavor" was not coming through all that much. read more

OMG! This cake is new and yummy! I love their regular cheesecake and used to avoid the burnt cheese cake because I think it was too sweet. But they have this new Ube one and my kid and I were craving for Ube ao we gave it a try. This is so great! Mild sweet with nice ube flavor but not overwhelming. A balance flavor between ube and cheese. The texture is rich but not oily. Not sure if I describe it right but I feel happy and zen at the same time. Lol... you get it when you try that. Yes. The cheesecake is really soft and tasty! I will definitely buy from this bakery again.

I've tried their cheesecakes for some time now. They are creamy fluffy perfectly sweet. You have to try it to understand the deliciousness. On Sunday we stopped by and I bought the Ube cheesecake (full size) for my friend. This was her first time trying it and she loved it! I got the mini Ube cheesecake and as usual it did not disappoint. The service by the young lady there was 10/10! She was sweet, smiling the whole time! She made the experience even better! read more

Went for dessert after dinner, and one of the items we got was a cheese tart. After we walked out the door, we noticed the top of the tart was burnt on the side. We had not opened the packaging, but the burnt color underneath was clearly visible. We returned immediately (within a minute), and the staff opened the wrap and confirmed that it was indeed burnt. However, they told us they could not exchange it because we had already left the store. They also said it was "normal" and that other tarts were like that too. This is not my first time buying cheese tarts from Uncle Tetsu, and this is definitely not normal. If multiple tarts were truly coming out burnt, then perhaps they should not have been sold at all. Where is the quality control? The "normal" burnt part negatively impacted the flavor of the tart. Also left me wondering why the displays are not burnt. What was also disappointing was that the tart was wrapped in the back without being shown to the customer beforehand. While I respect store policies, customers also have no way to inspect the item before purchase if it is packaged out of sight. We returned right away and did not even open the wrapping ourselves. Uncle Tetsu really needs better quality control and stronger customer service training. read more

The Uncle Tetsu hype has definitely died down. I remember when they first opened at the Shops of Santa Anita and it was crazy long waits. Now, you can order online and pick up immediately. You know how people say, "I swear it looks better in person"? Yeah... I swear this ube cheesecake looks so much better in person, but it had to endure a long car ride home. After sticking it in the fridge, I was able to come back to the fluffiest cheesecake I've ever had. Uncle Tetsu stamped on the middle is ADORBS!!! I was able to sample the limited cherry blossom flavor while at the shop, but the purple color of the ube one stole the show. The ube flavor is subtle yet delicious. I don't want any other cheesecake besides Uncle Tetsu's. The texture is so soft and light! It's not too sweet either. read more

Love that there are new cheese cake flavors and new desserts like the cheese tarts and the basque cheesecake. We tried the pandan coconut cheesecake, ube tart and the original. We ordered the ube cheesecake and it was a hit with the family. It was what Asians love to call "not too sweet," earning my mom's seal of approval. The cheesecake is light and fluffy. For a party of 6 we easily demolished it with no leftovers to spare. We also ordered one honey Madeleine to try on the spot. I loved it. It was freshly baked, soft and moist on the inside with a nice little toasty crust on the outside. The selections are easy and there are little models on display. Service is friendly and speedy. We would come back. read more

Been a fan of Uncle Tetsu for awhile now. The cheesecakes are fluffy, not too sweet and a good size where you won't have leftovers. They can even work as a simple birthday cake for 4-6 people. They now come in a variety of flavors beyond the original which is still a solid choice. There are many photos on Yelp already but I tried the seasonal Cherry Blossom and Burnt Basque cheesecake flavors today. Cherry almost has the same taste to me as Rose Water? The Burnt Basque was like the OG but with a bit more char on top? Both are good but I stuck with my go to flavors of Original, Ube and Oreo. Despite having ordered many cheesecakes before, I still can't figure out the tab on the box and how to properly close it so it doesn't look like it's half closed : ( read more

I absolutely love the original flavor and all the seasonal flavors they have. My favorite seasonal one was the cherry blossom! Delightful!

Everything is so good here! And it's always fresh. I stop by a few times each month. Although I love the cheesecakes, the tarts are great also. The cheesecakes are moist and not overly sweet, even the ube and cookies & cream. The tarts are sweeter. I love the ube flavor but the ube tart is a bit too sweet for me. The biscottis are great too, they usually come in a mixed bag, and everyone around me always loves them. But they're often out. I usually like to grab a few bags when I'm stopping by to see relatives or friends, or when I head to the office. The shop is small and neat. Everyone at this location is helpful and friendly, never had a bad experience. Molly is my favorite. Bad service and very impatient staff. On Mother's Day, I bought five cakes from the store. They had a promotion where customers would receive cookies with their next purchase over $10. Since I bought five cakes and cheese tarts in one transaction, I politely asked if I could receive the gift. However, one lady of the staff members said no and also refused to let me separate or adjust the purchase afterward. Japanese customer service is usually known for being polite and considerate, but unfortunately, I found the staff at this store to be rude and impatient. I feel they don't know how to do business because, from a customer's point of view, I spent a lot of money there on Mother's Day and simply asked about a small promotional gift. Instead of trying to help or being flexible, the staff only focused on the rules and responded impatiently. It felt like they cared more about refusing a few cookies than appreciating a customer who bought five cakes and cheese tarts. Good customer service is not only about following rules, but also about making customers feel respected and valued. read more
