My friends and I started going to Uncle Sam's every Wednesday night this spring semester and the occasional Sunday night. You can't beat the deals. It's gotta be the cheapest bowling around ($1 games and shoes and $6 pitchers of Busch). That being said, it's certainly not the fanciest place around, but when it comes to bowling, I prefer the homelyness. They do the lanes and rebuild the machines every summer, so it's fairly well kept up. There's a snack bar in the middle with great deal prices and a full bar by the door in a separate room from the lanes. Food wasn't anything special, just super cheap, greasy snacks, but that's all I would ever get at a bowling alley. Great regular staff, except for one dark-haired bartender on a Sunday that looked like she would rather be anywhere but there. The blond bartender with the short hair is great and she's usually there at least on Wednesdays. The older man (I want to guess the owner) who works Sunday is also very friendly and helpful and even offered us a free pitcher if we came the next Sunday and we weren't even regulars yet. Patronage was a large variety from kids, high schoolers, college students and middle aged folk. It can get a little crowded at times, but the only time we've been turned away was when there was a tournament going on that we had to wait til was finished, which meant drinking and playing pool at the bar. Bottom line: Don't expect anything super nice; if you're fine with inexpensive items that are well priced, you'll have a great time. I will continue to return. read more

There was no one fucking working. Someone had to hunt down an employee because there was only one dude there and they don't pay attention to people coming in and out. The place was meh and the people were just a bit odd. Sketchy location and definitely not a place I'd go back to. If no one's at the counter when we have to pay for over ten minutes should we even have to pay?!? read more

Was in town visiting for a few days. Very slow lanes,and the staff are condescending and rude.Never tried the food, but when the staff seem like they don't care about their jobs, why would you? Ambiance is quiet but the hardwood always has beer/soda stains,which make the floor sticky. I'll try a different lane after this experience. read more

Staff was just flat out rude for no reason as soon as we walked in and looked like they hated to be there. An older male staff made a misogynistic comment that was out of line. They gave us slow and glitchy lanes even though many others were open. We had to wait for them to fix it multiple times. It's very cramped and has narrow spaces. Overall, you can make the best of it and have fun with friends or family, but the staff leaves a bad taste in your mouth. One pro is that the prices are very reasonable and good. read more

While the Bowling facilities here are great, some of the staff is not. There is a woman named Linda who works at the snack bar and feels She can give an attitude and tell bowlers what to do. She will come onto the lanes or go to where ppl are sitting, telling them how to wear their masks while she does not wear hers properly. She holds grudges, gets angry and makes threats. The staff does nothing because they are related to her. This means she can intimidate others. I used to enjoy coming here but because this person is allowed to continue acting the way she does, without repercussions, is bothersome to say the least. read more

Nice little bowling alley in downtown troy. Me and my friends came here to bowl on a Friday night. Nothing fancy but it was cheap to bowl, $12.00 for 2 hours of bowling and shoes. For a bowling alley it was clean and well kept. It was 3.50 for beer on tap and they have a decent selection as well as a well stocked bar. I would love to come back again. They only complaint I have is that there doesn't seem to be much parking. read more

This is not your fancy schmancy bowling you'd see somewhere in the big cities with disco lights and big screens playing music videos. My father, my husband and I decided to go bowling on a Saturday evening. According to the website moonlight bowling starts at 8pm, but it really starts at 9pm. We signed up for emails and scored a $10 off coupon. I didn't mind that this bowling alley is not fill of bells and whistles like most other places. It had the old school scoring machine but plenty of seats, tables and balls to pick from. The lanes reset very fast and the ball returns immediately after. The guy at the main desk was super friendly and helpful. We didn't order any food since we just had dinner, but from what I saw on others tables it looked like typical bar food. Each night has a special pricing promo. For all 3 of us with shoes and 2 games minus the coupon was only $15! We look forward to returning very soon! read more

I love bowling at Uncle Sam Lanes because the prices for open bowling are very reasonable for under $2.00 a game. Sometimes, I practice here on Sundays before the leagues come on later in the day. The lanes here could use some updating from all wood with some cracking to a synthetic plastic overlay, but that takes money. read more

When looking for bowling in the area, the prices are right at Uncle Sam's Lanes. The lanes are in decent shape and everytime I've gone there, I've been able to get a lane. The prices for weekend "midnight" bowling are even affordable and they don't try to cram a million people on the same lane. The facility also has a huge bar area, with dart boards, pool tables, a jukebox and plenty of regulars hanging out. read more

Went to the pro shop looking to buy a couple bowling balls and all that was there was pretty much track, hammer and ebonite balls. I wasn't interested in those yet they were constantly trying to persuade me into a ball from those companies.I would not recommend thing pro shop no diversity in ball companies and unprofessional employee. Extremely disappointed as I was told it was a good pro shop with knowledgeable staff. read more

I will never go to this place again. Four of us went Saturday night, each paying $11 for unlimited games. Every other frame our bowling balls got stuck and wouldn't return back to us. We had to keep going to the counter to have an employee go fix it. His solution was to give us a towel and told us to clean the balls before we bowl it. (this also happened to the lane next to us who ended up just leaving) It took two hours to finish 2 games. I finally asked to speak to a manager to get some kind of compensation. He gave us a $10 gift card and wrote an expired date from last year on it. I complained again about the date and that $10 doesn't even provide one person with one complimentary game. He told me it was the best he could do. Concidering the amount of bowling alleys surrounding Troy there is no reason to return to this awful place. read more

Came here for the first and last time yesterday, on a Sunday evening, you know the time FAMILIES spend together each week. I am 24yrs old with an 8month old son, took my 24yr old best friend and her 2yr old daughter thinking it would be something fun to do on a rainy Sunday evening. I was wrong. After we carried the strollers up the massive steps through the smokers and into the inconsiderate non moving laying all over the floor drunks of the bowling leagues. We passed the first counter unaware it was even there considering the amount of teenagers sitting on it. We then made our way to the food counter only to realize we had passed where to get a lane.. ok back through the non moving drunks laying all over the floor, push through the teenagers sitting on the counter. Where do we get a lane please? (Everyone stare at eachother)one teen gets tapped on the shoulder, yes climb through the drunks down to lane 1 with the floor torn off of it. ok.. and for a fourth time through the still non moving drunks.. hey buddy that lane is being repaired.. oh ok go to lane 4. And then come back one more time to ask for bumpers. makes about 6 times i have to push through the drunks. we get all set up 20 minutes later, 2 yr old is super excited walks up to the lane.. about to bowl. Angry old man comes over yelling you "cant be at this lane!" Im polishing it for the drunks! ok hey teenager we are not allowed at this lane either. Angry old man and teenager have short conversation. Ma'am you cant have any of these 15 wide open lanes on a Sunday evening with your family. we need to polish them for the drunks it should only take a half hour or so. No thanks. Oh and if you are looking to eat there, the food servers are too busy eating. Never again. Unfortunetly I have to give at least one star. read more

Uncle Sam Lanes is your basic bowling alley w/ bar, There's no flashy tv screens playing music videos or little animated pins being knocked over, I'm fairly certain the balls, carpets, pins, mechanics, games, and food processing has been there since the 80's. The place doesn't look like its changed at all, including the apple 2e like computers that display your score and bowling line up. When you go to bowl, it's cheap though. When you're on a budget it's a huge help, $2.50 for shoes, $2.50 a game until 7pm, and then even after that it's only $3.00 a game. Mondays, its dollar bowling and shoes... I mean that's awesome. it's also awesome that the games in the "arcade" were unplugged while we were there, so no distractions for my clients (developmentally disabled middle schoolers and adults) The owner Tom was really friendly, as were the rest of the staff. The food stand wasn't open when we went but there were vending machines, with chips and soda. Overall great experience, I'd much rather come here then go to any Spare time, and overpay for flashiness. read more

Very terrible service ! Our wings were terrible! We had bought so much & took so much home because i didnt want them to think that we were doing it just to get our money back i got 3 big boxes to go as we ordered 2 36wings so at the end of our game i go ask the lady if i can have a bag she was on her phone & seemed to be bothered that i interrupted whatever she was doing on her phone gets up & hands me a WALMART bag that was on the counter the owner was so drunk i didnt even think about telling him about anything on a sunday the prices seemed awesome but that experience was the worst i ever had i rather pay full price somewhere else if i wouldve known this ahead of time. read more

Love bowling at Unk Sams. The prices r right, they have awesome midnight bowling as well. witrh a variety of house balls to choose from. If they have any downfall it's their customer service. Their workers could be a little more people friendly. Overall a great place to bowl with your family and friends read more
