Not only is their food is overpriced, but the service is incredibly terrible. The restaurant was not very crowded when we arrived (5-6 tables filled), with 3-4 servers. It took them ten minutes to even acknowledge our presence and then once we were seated, it took fifteen minutes for us to get our menus and water. We left after waiting ten minutes for our server that never came. This is not the first time that this has happened. We did successfully dine there before, but with similar waiting times (not during peak hours). The only time that they have good service is when there's only 1 other table filled in the entire restaurant. It was a waste of time and it's honestly irritating that they forgot about us. read more

Sunday afternoon, and we're hungry. The chalkboard on the wall has a list of items with lower prices than the menu price. We ASSUUMED that these items were on special. We ordered the smash burger. $12.99. When our lunch came, it was just that, a burger. Meat, cheese, pickles, and dressing. No lettuce, or tomato like a normal burger, and NO SIDE! This is NOT a special. it's Ala carte. Our server should have informed us that this was just a plain burger for $12.99 and offered a side. 2 burgers plain 1 Patty melt with a side 3 cokes Price $50.76 plus tip. I could have gotten a cheese burger, chicken nuggets, fries, and a drink for $5.99 at McDonald's. I feel like we got riped off. I love their chicken fried steak, eggs and hash browns. Ask for the hash browns crispy, you won't be disappointed. This meal can serve two moderately hungry adults. The staff is always friendly and the food isn't heavily salted (the restaurant is next door to senior citizen apartments) so add your own. The country gravy is the best in town but add some salt and pepper, again they make it more mild for the seniors. This morning, 8/1/25, I ordered a pork chop with eggs, potatoes, and toast for $18.99, coffee for $4.49 and sat outside. I was delivered my breakfast after having to ask for coffee twice. The potatoes, toast and eggs were to my liking, however, the pork chop was dry, tough and tasteless. It looked beautiful on the plate until I tried to eat it, one bite and that is all I had. When the meal was finished, the server, Marissa, asked if I would like to take the pork chop home. I told her it was dry, tough and tasteless and would do me no good by taking it home. She said it "was a shame but indicated most of their menu items are really good"!!!! I was presented with my bill...in full...no discount or apologies necessary I guess. Went to Uncle Pete's Cafe today and it was a great dining experience . Did know about this hidden jewel, but I'm glad I was introduced to it. The food was delicious and fresh. I had the turkey club lunch, and my dining mate had the chicken sandwich lunch with sweet potatoes. Our waiter Antonio has his customer service and people skills down to a science!! Uncle Pete's used to be a good option, particularly for breakfast. Even in the early days of food delivery, I could count on them for good food, served cleanly. Today I ordered for delivery and found numerous hairs in my food. Had to throw the whole thing away. California Health and Safety Code 113969 requires hair restraints for restaurant workers who are preparing, serving, or handling food or utensils. This isn't the kind of thing to take lightly. I won't be back and I don't recommend Uncle Pete's. read more

Ordered my food to go and phone service was friendly and helpful. Located in a small shopping center it's definitely alive inside with cutlery going and conversations and music filling the air. Food was perfect to go only down side is although we called and waited the time given we still were delayed in leaving with our food quickly so some options had gotten cold. So much for "dog friendly" patio, we ended up leaving because they were not very dog friendly. We came there to ask for a table. The guy said "no dogs allowed inside!" Uhhh of course...we didn't ask to get seated inside, we asked for a table outside. We stood outside waiting and waiting for our table when a family of 4 came in after us and got seated right away outside. There were two other empty tables that they could've seated us. Terrible service, waiters and waitresses are so unaware of what's going on around them. After reading the negative reviews, I see one common theme: all the servers definitely lack customer service experience. read more

I think I've manifested the cozy spot I've been dreaming of being able to visit. Visited after getting my nails done on a Friday evening with my Nana. We ordered the Greek filet mignon kabobs and the Alaskan salmon. The clam chowder came with the salmon and was TO DIE FOR. The portion sizes are big...like the kind my dad would appreciate. I feel like the menu has changed since the return of COVID restrictions. The menu seems way smaller! But the quality of the food is the same and it is delicious! Coffee, chicken fried steak, eggs over easy, hash browns AND sourdough toast with a coffee is a perfect way to start the 40th birthday. I LOVE going out to breakfast. And when my 40th birthday fell on a Saturday this January this is where I chose to go. My companion and I naturally wake early. But this seemed earlier than usual. So 7am we were rolling into Pete's and didn't have to wait. Usually on a Weekend morning you will have a bit of a wait. But not this day. Because this day was early! I am always trying a new item here. And I am never disappointed. From their chicken fried steak, breakfast sandwiches, omelets, and the A La Carte choices. You have ample choices. The bacon was crispy and seasoned nicely. If this was all I based the review on, this would be a 5 star place. HOWEVER, when a place serves biscuits and gravy, they should get it 110% correct...or not do them. The gravy was lukewarm and tasteless. Huge strike out. The biscuits were thin, tasteless, and the texture was like a sponge (and not in a good way). If you can't serve a hot, flavorful gravy, don't offer it. Biscuits should be hot, dense, and thick.
