This was a true five star experience. Our tour guide Brent was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Uncle Nearest and was very engaging, offering humor whenever he could. He also shared information about the property as well as future development. The whisky tasting was great too. The best part was meeting the owner at the end of the tour. She was very polite and welcoming. She took photos with guests and signed merchandise. The master blender was there also on this day. Other staff that I encountered on my visit were also very pleasant. This is a must if you're in the area. The world'a longest bar is on this property; it's a sight to see! We went on one of the popular Nashville Whiskey Distilleries and Tours Nashville and the surrounding area are home to a vibrant whiskey scene, with options to suit every taste, we went with what is considered the father of whiskey. We went to Uncle Nearest Distillery. It honors the legacy of Nathan "Nearest" Green, the formerly enslaved man who taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. It's located in Shelbyville, TN (also about a 1-hour drive from Nashville). They offer tours that tell Nearest Green's story and provide insights into the distillery's whiskey-making process. Tasting Sessions: Tours include tastings of Uncle Nearest's award-winning whiskeys, allowing you to sample different expressions and appreciate their flavor profiles. The amount of whiskey was very small and in plastic cups. The pictures on the sight reflects flight glasses during the tasting. That really needs to be addressed. Decided to take a trip to Uncle Nearest Distillery and did the tour and tasting option. Amazing story of the bond between Jack Daniels and Uncle Nearest and how it all got started. Definitely recommend the tour. Our guides Brent and Kay were excellent in sharing details and providing a top notch experience. The tasting part was strong but informative around whisky . The gift shop was adorable! Had clothing, drinks, other goods, and tons of history. And we got a wonderful treat at the end of our tour. Owner Fawn Weaver was there and she signed our bottles and took pics. So cool! Definitely recommend the tour and tasting. You learn about Tennessee history, American history, and the importance and legacy of Uncle Nearest. Definitely recommend! 10 out of 10! read more

We took a weekend girl's trip to Nashville and decided to drive to Uncle Nearest to do the tour. The distillery is located in Shelbyville, TN which is an hour or so drive from Nashville depending on the traffic. We arrived early to have lunch at the Barrel House before we did our tour. The BBQ was delicious and the service was great. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us. We had Terrell as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and funny which made for a great tour. We all enjoyed him as our guide. At the end of our tour, we were able to meet the CEO Fawn Weaver. She is absolutely beautiful and she welcomed and greeted every guest with a hug. Meeting her was a pleasant surprise. read more

We had the absolutely pleasure of doing the Single Barrel Whiskey Thief Tour and Tasting with Julie on Aug 15. If you have the ability, get on a tour with Julie! Her knowledge is endless. Her enthusiasm for whiskey in general and TN whiskey in particular is infectious. She's humorous and engaging whether you're a whiskey novice or a brown spirits savant. She taught us so much about tasting whiskey and the techniques - everyone had an amazing time. I would definitely go back and do a different tour with her. The experience & tour was both educational and phenomenal. Our tour guide was Karen and she was awesome!!! I loved the historical background of how Uncle Nearest evolved throughout the years and how the future plans the current owner is taking the brand. The tasting room and samples were out of this world. The shop was stocked with whiskey all the way up to the ceiling. The Tennessee Whiskey gourmet popcorn left me speechless that when I got home I ordered a case of 25 bags. All in all a very successful day except for the weather, but we can't control Mother Nature. read more

We had a group of 7-8 couples go to Uncle Nearest for a tour and sampling. The grounds are an old walking horse farm and are very well maintained and beautiful to walk. I'm not a big whisky drinker, but enjoyed sampling the Uncle Nearest whiskeys and learning how to properly taste them to get the full flavors. Our taste-testing guide was Julie and she was incredibly knowledgeable and made the entire experience very memorable. I highly recommend this tour and whiskey sampling and ask for Julie! read more

Just GO! Go for the history, for the culture, for the vibes! We spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon enjoying a tour and brunch at Humble Baron. Our tour started promptly at 11:30 and we had a blast with Brent! He was very knowledgeable and quick witted which made for a fun tour. The whiskey tasting at the end was held in a small room which allowed for relaxed conversation and Q&A with Brent. Afterwards, we visited the gift shop where we purchased a couple of Nearest bottles that were only sold onsite, along with a signed copy of the book Love and Whiskey. Next, we had reservations for brunch at The Humble Barron, we were greeted by a friendly host (didn't get his name) and led to seats at the bar- the longest in the country. Nicole was our server and she provided excellent service with a smile. We both ordered the peach cobbler french toast (10/10), bacon and eggs. The food was hot, delicious, and sweet. I didn't find the French toast overly sweet but some people might. I also enjoyed every drop of the Queens Gambit, while my husband had a beer that is made on site. The live entertainment by Roz Malone and her band was top tier!! She has an amazing voice. Overall a great experience was had and we would definitely visit again just to try the BBQ restaurant. read more

Terrell was our guide for the thieving tasting tour and his love and passion for whiskey and sharing the history of Nearest Green and the love and credit he gave to Fawn Weaver for researching and bringing the story to life and giving credit where credit is due! I am not big reader and the book Love & Whiskey is the first book I have read cover to cover and could not put down in a very long time. This tour incapsulated everything and more and I am so glad I got to share it with my fiance and the property is absolutely stunning. Lastly on the tour Terrell pointed out two different employees were on vacation, which I love a company that values and respects people's time and work/life balance, Fawn and her team have the absolute secret sauce to success and watching women do it so incredibly well is inspiring!! read more
