As always, everything was top tier. The staff was incredible, and Karen really stood out--she made the experience even more special. From the atmosphere to the tasting, Uncle Nearest never misses. I like a little of everything - smoky, peaty, sweet - as long as its reasonably smooth and well balanced. Given this preference, I tend to know better than to go with cask strength whiskeys, but I tried their maple wood finished cask strength to be a good sport. And to my surprise it was just perfect - like the extra concentration (57.7% vs the standard 40%) added more flavor rather than more burn. I think it was about $100 a bottle so I grabbed one and decided to check a bag so I could bring it home - it was that good.

My wife and I just finished this tour and would recommend it without hesitation. Our day started at 10:35, when we met our tour guide, Justin, and the small group we'd be spending the day with. After a brief introduction and a quick photo, we boarded a shuttle bus and got a quick look at some historical Lynchburg landmarks. Then we enjoyed lunch at Miss Mary Bobo's Restaurant. It was family-style, southern fare, and simply outstanding. We walked through town to the distillery and enjoyed a fun, fascinating, super informative tour of how Jack is made, stored, bottled, the whole thing. This tour is the one opportunity for visitors to see the inside of one of the barrel storage facilities. The day ended with a tasting session, where we explored some of the finer points of a selection of Jack Daniel's whiskeys and their individual qualities and personalities. Plus everyone received a gift bag with a framed version of the photo taken earlier in the day, some chocolates, and a bottle of Miss Mary Bobo's Hot Sauce (which I had earlier on fried Okra and it was tremendous!). It was nearly 4 p.m. by the time we were done. So I meant when I said "if you have some time." And it costs a little more. But worth every penny and every minute of time. Especially enjoyed the tasting aspect with instructions on how to do it correctly. Every staff member encounter was pleasant and engaging. He's so gentle and loved people(it's the neighbors dog) The Tour here was short but very educational and our tour guide was great and loved his humor and he truly knew his history and every small detail about Whiskey. Their outside area had benches and lawn chairs that made the place pretty chill. Love the vibes and they even had live music that was so relaxing to listen to while enjoying a drink. His voice was just magical. There are a lot of areas to take pictures and really enjoy the gorgeous scenery and green beauty. They have a nice little shop with some really fun stuff you can take home from Bottles, kitchen towels, bottles and fun Re-purposed glass bottles made into candles they have a lot of neat things. Their bathrooms were very clean and love the vibes inside. Their tasting here was such a fun experience with our tour guide Sir Paul Bisset he was a Gem honestly if you are able to ask for him before hand do so.
