We have passed Uncle Julio's a few times on separate occasions when staying in Orlando and never had the opportunity to go until now and I am so glad we did. We were lucky enough to go during lunch time on a Friday afternoon and it was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside on the patio. Surprisingly it wasn't busy and the staff was so pleasant and attentive. Our waiter gave us a great introduction to the restaurant and the menu since it was our time there and recommended the fajitas. Boy am I glad that we went with his recommendation! The food was just delicious! It was fresh and seasoned so well. I had the steak fajitas and they were cooked perfectly and the flavor just exploded off the plate. The drink of the day was a fresh watermelon margarita but since I am expecting they made me a virgin watermelon mojito that was absolutely amazing and refreshing! My boyfriend had the chicken and steak fajitas and the tres amigos margarita and he was very happy with both. Overall, our experience was great and the food was so good and filling. Ordered $13 pineapple jalapeño Margarita with $2 lunazul silver tequila floater for additional charge for my birthday but they forgot the floater and waitress, bartender and manager were unable to get the floater for us. Very disappointed.Would not recommend. Food was so-so. As Orlando locals, it takes a lot to get us down to the chaos of I-Drive, but Uncle Julio's was definitely worth it! The staff was great, and service was friendly and attentive. The food was good, and our family of 5 ordered a mix of tacos and fajitas. The highlight of the evening, though, was the chocolate piñata we ordered for dessert. They used a template to write out "Happy Birthday" in cinnamon in the center, which adds a nice customized flair and the piñata itself is a hefty ball of dark chocolate. It took quite a few smacks with the stick they provide, to break it open! It's filled with strawberries, pineapple and churros, and comes with chocolate sauce for dipping and whipped cream. Even with 5 of us, we had plenty left over to bring home. The experience was fun and unique and the atmosphere made for a very enjoyable birthday celebration dinner. read more

I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars because the margaritas were fire and the service was great but we were not overly impressed with the food. The chili con queso honestly looked like velveeta from a bag. It wasn't great. The salsa was very watery and needed salt. I thought the chicken and steak fajitas were very good and the kids enjoyed their chicken tenders. My husband and I both had the el jefe margarita which was a spicy jalapeño margarita and it was very good. We also tried a house margarita which was decent. I've been here before and they had a chocolate piñata which was excellent but they are operating on a limited menu. We tried the churros instead and they were delicious. For the price I just felt that there was something lacking. We actually made our way over here because yard house was full. This place was an awesome dinner spot for after getting pictures with Santa. They put chips and salsa on the table as soon as we sat down and kept them coming until our food arrived. I tried the sampler that came with 2 different enchiladas and a crunchy taco. It was very good! I was especially a fan of the seasoned beef and the beans that came with it. So we were honestly supposed to dine at another jear by location but their wait time was rediculous, when one of our family members suggested we try Uncle Julios, and I am so glad we did. There were 8 of us in our party so being a Friday night we were a little concerned what with social distancing in effect whether we would be seated right away and like magic they had a wonderful table all ready for us. Our server was so friendly and she jumped right in taking drink orders and making sure we all had fresh housemade chips and roasted salsa to snack on while we perused the menu. Everyone made their selections and I choose the kids chicken fajitas. All of the staff, including the manager were extremely attentive and really made us feel welcome. When the food came everything looked incredible. Our server told us that they are none for their fajitas and I can totally see why. The chicken was juicy and flavorful and the handmade tortillas were a perfect compliment. When our server came around and asked if we were interested in dessert we were so full they could have rolled us out. I look forward to returning for more fajitas! read more

I was looking for something new, and this place came up on my search. Let me just say that it didn't disappoint! According to my server, they have been open for a while 4 wks and 3 days. The service from start to finish was spot on (from one of the managers opening the door for me, the hostess taking care of parking my stroller for me, to the server who was quick and friendly, and kept my drink refilled without having to ask). The food was great. I had a lunch special (chicken enchilada and tamale), it was amazing. So fresh and packed with flavor. The decor was nice too. Meh. Food was OK, had a really nice Smokey Mezcal margarita but the problem was, I wanted another and wanted to try a different one. Managed to get the drink menu again but was ghosted by the bartender after that. When the second bartender asked if I wanted anything else I told her I would have had another but wasn't offered one. She just laughed and handed me the bill. Another margarita would have added $15 to the tab effectively increasing it by 50% but that was not to happen. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite a while, but without reservations it's way too busy and I am too inpatient to wait and I now know why. It is so delicious! Many of their items are all homemade, from scratch! We had reservations on a Wednesday night for 6pm. Host managed up the restaurant when he found out it was our first time. He made me more excited. I had the happy hour sangrias! Wow did they taste amazing and did the trick to relax me. For appetizers we had the chips with queso and guacamole dip. We opted out on the table side guacamole because we were so hungry. For the entrees, I had the 3 hard shell tacos plate. I asked for both chicken and beef. My kids had the fajitas for 2. I think our entrees came out quickly. About 12 minutes after we got our app. It was perfect. For dessert we had the chocolate piñata. This was the highlight!!!! The piñata style came out with a chocolate ball suspended. Inside the ball it contained churros, pineapple chucks, strawberries. The server gave us a small wooden stick to hit it. We had a group of 25, which means we should have at least have 2-3 servers helping we did at the beginning and then the disappeared like your good weight after college. The chicken quesadillas were actually the highlight of the meal . They were there and ready for the party as an appetizer. I guess cheese makes everything better. After that it was downhill from there. The salsa was more watery than water if that's even possible oh the chips were actually decent I give them that. I ordered a blended margarita which came after me asking 4 times hey any luck on my drink, my order was entirely wrong one of my peers never received her rice and beans. And they left only one server for the group of 25 individuals. After they apologized 5 times for getting my order wrong I actually didn't care, I was just hungry and I understood crap happens .So as I calmly waited for my food I realized the faces of my peers and the plates of food that still sat there and I wondered. It can't be that bad right ... ha I've never had Spanish rice so dry in my life it was actually still white with added pees. Who the Hell adds pees to Spanish rice and correct me if I'm wrong but Spanish rice should be red or at least close to it. But it was so dry I damn near thought they didn't cook it, just through some water on it popped it in the microwave and added some random pees. I don't know who's in the kitchen but they damn sure don't know how to make authentic Mexican food . I know it's a food chain so I don't expect much to be authentic but damn where's the love, where's the pride and management where's the leadership to make sure big parties receive the help they need. Located at ICON Orlando 360, this restaurant is within walking distance of our hotel on International Drive. We were at ICON to enjoy two attractions: SEA LIFE and Madame Tussauds and took a lunch break. Although we were just steps away from many restaurant choices, we decided to stroll across the lawn and dine outside on the inviting patio at Uncle Julio's Mexican. This was my first time hearing of this restaurant and since my family loves mexican food, we had our fingers crossed that this was a good decision. BOY WAS IT! Great service, great food and great atmosphere. They make their tortillas on the premise. You can actually go inside the restaurant and see the whole production, which my daughter really enjoyed. You can also order fresh guacamole tableside. The chips and salsa are homemade and comes complimentary to the table once seated. We ordered fajitas and everything was so flavorful,fresh and tasty! Be sure to save room for their signature dessert. We tried the chocolate lovers pinata..filled with fresh fruit, churos and more, which is a unique dessert to share as a group. Wow what a great find while in Orlando. Uncle Julio's is nestled in a very cute/unique shopping area that offers a variety of things. The food and drinks were over the top good. Happy hour prices house margaritas were only $5.50. A welcomed change from the $8 beers and $14 manhattans I've been drinking at the hotel bar. Both the house margarita and spicy margarita were delicious. I stepped out of the box and ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp. It was excellent. Came with rice and beans and flour tortillas. Normally I'm a corn tortilla kind of girl but these tasted nothing like a commercial brand tortilla and every bit like they were just made in a scratch kitchen. The bartenders were attentive without being overbearing. The one lady even came by with five minutes left in happy hour to see if I wanted to order another drink before prices went up. We moved from Texas to Florida and used to fly back to Texas and buy the salsa and fly with a gallon home to carry us over. I stopped by this place just for the chocolate piñata experience. The first hostess was a little rude, but after the second young lady found out I was a food reviewer. She tried to accommodate me with seating for a better view. The wait for this dessert was extremely long. I waited almost one hour. The churros was good but the fruit was bitter and some of the pineapples were hard. The price for this dessert was $30. I would have rated it higher, but the service wasn't great.
