Holy guacamole this place is amazing ! My best friend and I came in for lunch and girl talk as this is her favorite restaurant and location . I see why ! Our server was Sebastian and he was so nice and provided great service. We enjoyed lunch , mocktails and cocktails and left stuffed and happy lol! They have other locations and do have plenty of seating for larger parties. 10/10

Last time I came to Don Julio's was for cinco de mayo 2025 and at that time it was a good time and food was pretty good. This visit was very underwhelming as far as the food aspect. For a Friday night it wasn't as busy as it usually is, which was good because we were seated immediately. The vibe was nice with good music and hearing everyone celebrate birthdays. Our server Arom was amazing and provided top tier service, he was the best part of our dining experience. For drinks we ordered a Paloma and Margarita. Both drinks were just drinkable, not great flavor and blah. For an appetizer we ordered Queso, Guacamole, and salsa. The cheese was delicious, the salsa was bland and only tasted like tomato, the guacamole was flavorless. The guacamole was in dire need of lime and salt. For dinner my kids ordered Steak, Birria Tacos with French Fries. They seemed to enjoy their food. My husband and I shared a Molcajete with steak, shrimp, chicken, and chorizo. The meat had good flavoring but was all mixed together. In many other restaurants the meat is separated so it's easier to assemble your tacos instead of digging through and sorting it out. For dessert we ordered Churros, and they were good. I've been coming to Don Julio's since they originally opened and was a quarter of the size. I understand with growth and success comes changes but I feel like the food isn't as good as it use to be. Don Julio's use to be one of my go to Mexican spots but after the past few visits I don't think I'll be returning.

Everything was great! Clean, service was prompt, music was good and food was delish! We came during lunch time and I had the Caldo de pollo! Which is a chicken soup! It was delish! And the chicken was nice and moist. Cristina was sweet and tentative with our table! Def recommended and will come back!

Caught up with a girlfriend this past weekend over some yummy margaritas and chicken fajitas! Went on a Saturday was steadily busy, but we chose to sit at the bar. Staff was friendly, and food came out quick. The margaritas were tasty and strong. There was a DJ around 6PM. He definitely was setting the tone for a fun evening! Even though there was a DJ, you were still able to hear and have a nice conversation without yelling, LOL. Great place to catch up with a friend or enjoy a night out with family!

I know I can go to Don Julio and always enjoy a tasty meal. I have been many times and I feel it's one of the better options for Mexican cuisine in the area. Both locations are consistent. My service has always been good, with the exception of one bad experience at the Waterford location. I'll consider it an abnormality. If you go on a Friday night, as I did most recently, just know it's like you're going to a club. Not very conducive to conversing, but plenty fun if that's what you're seeking. Free shots? Yes, please! I absolutely love their cheese. Drinks are a bit pricey for me, but there's a plethora of amazing options on the drink menu.

They have got to be out of their minds. I have ordered from the restaurant on Chickasaw multiple time so I have received this item before and what we received on our last order is beyond unacceptable. This quesadilla was $20 dollars. This is a tiny tortilla and 2 oz of barely seasoned ground beef. Sure, there was some sour cream and lettuce on the side, but this is shameful. Every other time I ordered this it was four pieces, and this is what you sent the last time. I want my money back. As a person who has worked in customer service for over 25 years, I am utterly embarrassed for you. Someone in your kitchen thought this was a way to treat regular guests, or any guests. Its bad enough you already inflate your prices from the menu for delivery, that we could overlook, but then this is what you send. And dont get me started on the quality, Im letting that go because it was delivery. PS we ordered two of these, so we were charged $40 for 2. Im sorry, but I really am having trouble fighting my disgust.

Wanted to try a new Mexican spot so we went to Don Julio's. The ambiance gives party vibes and the greeters were nice. The food was delicious, fresh and served hot. The only downsides was the service was a little slow at times, like bringing to go boxes and checking for refills. As well as the price for certain items can be a little on the pricer side compared to competitors like Garibaldi's. But over all very happy with the visit and flavorful food. P.s. some of the best guacamole I have had at a restaurant.

Long overdue review of a place I've been coming to for years...unfortunately, the years kinda contributed to that missing 5th star. I understand that things get more expensive, but how are we gonna be increasing prices AND cutting back on portions sizes? (One specific thing that has shrunk - the sides that come with the nachos - used to be a big bag of chips and enough lettuce/sour cream ect for the whole dish, chips are now half the size and it's a very small amount of the salad items). I've also taken to really checking my to-go orders as missed items are common during lunch rush. I keep coming back though, because the food is really good. The drinks are just as excellent too, with the mango Margarita being one of my faves. They've expanded and updated the space at this location in the years that I've been going, and the vibe on weekend evenings is very lively. I'm definitely going to be a continued customer, just wish some things could have stayed as they were.

Had the chicken Mexican burrito and it was delicious our server was friendly and the restaurant ambience was hopping with Latin DJ music that had the customers dancing. Definitely great place to hang out with friends and enjoy

Tucked in a nondescript plaza, this Mexican joint offers none of the bells and whistles you find from other Tex-mex style eateries. It's very open inside. Lots of TVs on the walls. The music was apparently coming from a DJ while we were there on a Saturday night but I didn't even know he was there until we left for the evening. I ordered the carnitas fajitas. Those were some of the best carnitas I've ever had. Seriously. So juicy and tender. They fell apart on my fork. That was definitely the star of the show. The rice and beans accompanying my fajitas were just ok, nothing special. I was a bit disappointed that my fajitas didn't come with guacamole, so I had to order and pay for a side, but at least they gave me a decent amount. The fajitas themselves were a pretty big portion too. My husband ordered a burrito. He said it was yummy but nothing overly special to rave about. The margaritas were tasty although not very strong. I liked that they had an entire section on the menu for spicy margaritas, my favorite. Get the jalapeño marg; you won't be disappointed. Our waitress was very nice and attentive without being overbearing. Food came out fast, almost too fast! It was all very fresh and hot.

Juan was a wonderful server. The margaritas were delicious. We had a mango margarita and a lychee margarita along with the queso and salsa. The queso was a nice consistency and not runny. I did find the salsa to be a bit spicier for my tastes.

Best dang Chimichanga in Orlando Pretty dang good fried ice cream as well & don't even get me started on the margaritas. They don't hold back on the liquor

Do you offer any specials on specific weekdays?

When will Don Julio make a profile for the Waterford Lakes location?

Hopefully soon. They were still working out some kinks regarding Happy Hour etc. when I went last Saturday.

Pleasantly surprised -- definitely worth a visit!…read more I popped into KAVAS completely randomly while I was in Orlando for a work trip, and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, the service, atmosphere, and overall experience were top notch. I ordered the skinny margarita and it was SO good that I obviously had to have more than one . I also got the School Tacos, which were really tasty and hit the spot. And then, to my complete surprise, there was a short live performance with a guy doing tricks with fire rods (not sure what the official term is, but it was pretty damn cool). Definitely not something I expected when I walked in for dinner! If you're staying or working around the Orange County Convention Center, I'd absolutely recommend making a stop here. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere, and a fun experience that I wasn't expecting. Definitely a must-visit if you're in the area!

Our server was very helpful and the food came out super quick. Restaurant decor was very pretty, lots of bright colors and interesting artwork. We ordered a pitcher of passion fruit margarita for the table. Pretty good and affordable for our party of 4 to split and get 1-2 drinks per person. For starters we ordered the chips, guac, ceviche, empanadas, and street corn. These were my personal favorite items. Mains ranged from steak tacos, birria tacos, enchiladas. Many of the entrees include rice and beans as well. In our opinion the mains were a bit of a miss. Found it surprising as we ordered some very standard items but the flavor was lacking. It could have been a fluke late night who knows. All in all a decent stop if you're in the area but there are likely more affordable & potentially tastier options.

It was delicious! Sweet and a mild kick. They provided a medium salsa and basket of chips. I really enjoyed the salsa since it is more minced and mildly salty but just the right amount of heat. Then we ordered the Queso which is not standard melted cheeses but a thick and stretchy cheese like when you do a mozzarella pull when it's piping hot. There were a few types of chips and pretzels. My friend and I shared the 4 tacos. She had 2 mushroom tacos and I had one grilled fish and one carne asada. The fish was tender and flaky. I wish I had asked for the flour tortilla since I'm not a big fan of corn tortilla but it was still flavorful. The carne asada was also good but not spectacular. 5 Star update because this is still my go-to for exceptional tacos from a family-owned business!…read more(pro-tips: 1) get the fish taco immediately, 2) bring your vegetarian friends) I've been coming to Black Rooster since they first opened, but had to update my COVID-era review (because those times were straaange). I'm a creature of habit and am thankful for a restaurant that stays consistent in terms of quality and experience! PLUS, my husband and I can both find tons of options to eat here (not always easy when you're married to a vegetarian!). The vegetarian friendly options include their black beans, smoked greens taco, plantains, kale caesar salad, kale salad, BR nachos, and of course the chips, salsa, and made-to-order guac. My absolute faves food-wise: - The Smoked Greens taco. I'm not a vegetarian, but this vegetarian taco rivals any of its meat compadres. Made up of kale, shiitake mushroom, plantain, onion, ricotta cheese, and cilantro, this bad boy is smokey with that perfect little addition of sweet from the plantain. Truly a favorite! - The Black Rooster Asada. It looks pretty simple- some brown meat with cilantro on top. But don't let it's appearance deceive you! It's actually filled with seared beef, apple wood smoked bacon, Oaxaca cheese, chile poblano, onion, cilantro, 3 chile-tomato salsa. Because all of the ingredients are tossed together you get a wallop of flavor, with that basic look. She's not ideal for a colorful taco Instagram pic, but she's got more flavor then you can imagine! Spice level- Mild/Medium - Fish Taco. For a more picture-worthy option, this one's got colors upon colors! Crispy beer battered and local, pickled cabbage, remoulade sauce, avocado, cilantro, radish mean it's green, white, orange, purple, etc etc. She's a looker, but the flavor is there to back it up. Without a doubt this is my favorite fish taco in town. - Cilantro Poblano Rice. We love a green rice, and I could eat this on its own all day every day. Don't miss out on this often-overlooked side! While we were eating, the owner came over around 11:15 and barked, "Time to go--leave, leave, leave," as if he were chasing animals out of his restaurant. To be clear, I have no problem with being asked to leave after closing. The problem was the owner's arrogant, aggressive, and humiliating way of speaking to paying customers. We were not loud, causing trouble, or refusing to leave. One polite sentence would have solved everything. The most disturbing part is that this was not an untrained employee--it was the OWNER. That means the disrespect comes directly from the top. He was happy to accept our money at 10:50, but twenty minutes later treated us like garbage he needed removed. Good food cannot compensate for an owner who shows this much contempt toward his own customers. There are plenty of taco restaurants in Orlando run by people who understand basic manners and appreciate your business. Spend your money at one of them. I will never return to Black Rooster Taqueria, and I strongly recommend avoiding it.
