The first time we took our son (2 yrs) , we would definitely return. They have a kids car for him to sit in and the barber listened to our instructions. His hair came out great. I was t to happy with the price, $25 for adults and $24 for children!?!?! I felt like we were in and out in less than 10 min. We returned for a second time and it was like speaking to a wall! You know I have checked out many barber shops in the last couple of years. Many many more over my lifetime of changes in my hair care. So many of which I have not wanted to return for a second cut. But this place is a nice spot, I had Vinny give me a nice quick cut. He is fast but professional, very thorough and accurate; seems to use a razor well. I look forward to seeing if he can be as good with scissors next time. They aren't as cheap as other spots, but certainly not over priced. read more

Great atmosphere, amazing people, and great place to get a great haircut. I've been to many barbershops, but this one knows what to do with hair. Some leave too much, and some cut too short. My hair is very thick and big, and a lot of places don't know how to cut it. This place knows how to do it and get it done quick. All barbers are friendly and people you can talk to easily. Absolutely the best barber shop in Long Island. I always get my haircut here when out on Long Island. They do my buzz cut exactly as I like it plus they trim my eyebrows which makes my face feel cleaner. The staff is absolutely friendly and courteous. I will be back. Mike from Uncle Ernie's Barbershop is a great barber. We gave him a photo of an "A" symbolizing Alabama Football and he did an amazing job "shaving" it into the back of my son's head. Check out the photos I uploaded. It came out centered and looks like the photo we gave him. I highly recommend Mike for all your barber needs!!! My son (age 9) loves him!!! Most important, Mike listens to your child describe how he wants his hair to look - whether spikey, shaved, etc. And makes sure your child is happy with the result. You may wait 10-20 mins for him, but it is well worth the wait... His attention to detail is what set's him apart. I've had a basic variation of the same haircut since I was 5. 1/2 or 1 on the sides, 5 or 6 on top and make sure it fades in nicely. Pretty straight forward but I had a very hard time finding someone who could knock it out on LI. Until I stumbled across Uncle Ernie's. After trying a couple of the guys I landed in Mike's chair and now he's my guy. My hair has never looked better. Pleasant to talk to, careful, and you're never rushed. I drive through a couple of towns (passing a number of other barber shops on the way) to get here, so it's not the most convenient. But I wouldn't consider going to anyone else. Give Mike a shot, you'll see what I mean. And if there is slight wait for him - there is a good reason, grab a paper and hang out, worth the wait. read more

The day before my son's third birthday I took him here for a trim. My exact words were "I like it long on top but he just needs a trim in the back, on the sides and in the front so his hair is not in his eyes." Well I was almost in tears when he was done. It looks like my son took scissors to his own hair. The are random cuts in his hair and it's uneven all over. The front of his hair is short by his right eye (like near his hair line) and long on the left (past his eyebrow). I didn't give him 1-star because the person I was with got a hair cut (just needed a buzz with different clips) and it looked good. read more

We visited Uncle Ernie's on a Sunday afternoon and were taken right away by Alex. We needed to get my son's (8.5 months) and my husbands hair cut. We just moved to Merrick so we didn't know where to go. We were taken right away by Alex who cut my son's hair first. This is was his first haircut so We weren't sure how it was going to go. He cried as we expected but Alex handled it so nicely. He was very patient and was able to redirect him to look in the mirror or out the window. Brought our 17 month old here today. They took us right away, did exactly what we asked for, and even though he was crying (he is used to his grandma cutting his hair) they were able to do the job quick, well, clean and professionally. The woman (Linda) was very accommodating and good with children. It was only $13. Will definitely be bringing him back here for his next cut. There is a reason they've been in business for so long.
