Needed a place for my son to get a haircut. If you know me, you know that I don't need haircuts anymore. ;). I looked for a place that was good for kids and Cool Cutz came up. The first thing that I noticed was that the shop was very clean. There are about a 1/2 dozen chairs and a plane for kids, or I guess small adults. Our barber did a great job. My son squirms all over and doesn't stop talking. He got him to follow his directions and gave him a great cut. We will be back soon because his hair grows like weeds. The first picture is what i wanted and the result was the second. With a full set of hair before my hair cut it should've worked to have my hair like the first picture right? No. Even the amount of times I showed him what i wanted he went shorter. Many people might say it's not bad but it's not what i wanted, im a laughing stock to my friends and it's just embarrassing looking like this. Finally found a barber shop for my kids and myself.. what an amazing outstanding staff.. first and for most i would like to emphasize on customer service.. the staff is very caring and take their time to provide quality work.. Let me start off by saying that, on God, I have never in my life reviewed a damn thing. I tried this barber shop out because it was closer and a few dollars cheaper than my barber at Ace of Fades down the street. The guy who cut my hair not only cut my hair differently than I wanted, but he cut my neck up with his razor. At first I thought he just nicked me a little. But then he got nervous when I started to bleed. He kept saying it wasn't that bad even though I was sitting patiently watching him scramble around to clean up the mess. I didn't give him a tip because of his mistake and walked out. Once I got in my car I took a few pictures with my phone to get a closer look. Just a lil nick. Are you kidding me?! I had somewhere to be afterwards but it's embarrassing to go out with my neck all chopped up. I will never go there again, and I would recommend that everyone avoid this shop! I usually get my hair cut at Ace of Fades as I said before. They give great haircuts, beard trims, etc. for only a few dollars more. And they have never cut me once in the 3 years I've been going there. I regret trying out a new shop and if you don't mind driving a couple more minutes down the road then you should go to Ace of Fades. Ridiculous. read more

So I usually have a barber to go to for little man but he been flopping on me lately...I needed to get him a haircut and found this place on yelp. I read the reviews and saw Mike was really good with kids. Got there and he was very friendly, I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he did it exactly if not better! They all have a TV by their station so he allowed him to watch what ever he wanted, to stay still. The place is big and looks clean...i have been coming ever since that day. Ive seen the other guys work and they do a good job too. Needed a cut before meeting up with friends and went to the usual spot but it was so crowded so had to do an about face. We were on our way to meet our friends for dinner and my wife would not let up on my over grown hair. I told her to find a place. I don't usually go to anyone other than my barber but to make her stop nagging I gave in. Well, she found this spot using yelp and I went in reluctantly. I was impressed and so was she. Really nice and friendly place. My son is 5 and he doesn't really like getting his hair cut. He had been going to another place with a car chair but he was getting so big it was time for a change. I called to make an appointment and they don't take any but the nice man on the phone said come on in but just to warn you it's picture day so we expect it to be busy. There were quit a few people in front of him but they worked diligently to get everyone finished. My son love it, the price was right and they did a great job. After walking out of ace of fades completed disgusted as how we were treated, a friend suggested cool cutz for our 2 and a half year old. What a difference! These guys know how to treat customers and run a business. Place was clean, everyone was friendly. Didn't wait long. They really know how to talk to kids and interact with them so they are comfortable. i've been getting my haircut from mikey since 2011. only guy i go to unless i'm out of town. he moved from lake success to south shore (merrick) and i followed him straight to his new place. i drive from FAR to see him. sometimes one hour with traffic. it doesn't matter bc he's the only barber i trust. he has clients from all over even jersey. he does a great job. his whole staff is wonderful, young fresh funny fly dudes. they all do a great job and they're all very kid friendly. all the time i see entire families coming here, moms dads uncles and kids. when it's back to school you have a long line of little toddlers. only barber shop i've seen that has such a wide spectrum of clients. they love what they do and never show signs of slack. mike does exactly what i ask and takes his time. all around great person also who always asks about my family, my health, and stays in touch. very personal as if he leaves town he will tell you exactly which dates he's out. he loves his business and i've never seen an unsatisfied customer! also he let me bring my dog here once and whole staff was incredibly friendly to him. good atmosphere and good vibes, and never a long wait. read more

They're all on point and give excellent cuts. Mike and his guys actually listen to what you want done and are capable of giving you the haircut you asked for.
