This place just opened last month! Very clean and highly equipped. When I say that I meant, when I come here every week to have hot shaving! They do head massage using small machine! It's really awesome and reliefs headache.. The shaving creams they use are great. People who work there very pleasant and friendly! You'll notice right away that Classic Shave Barber shop is clean, bright and spacious and well-stocked with goods to service your haircare needs. Once seated, you will get a haircut exactly to your specifications. If you want a shampoo or a shave you'll get that too. Straight razor to your neck? Hot towel? Check. Random conversation? If you want it you've got it. How much are you paying? $16. Not much can go wrong here. If you're waiting, they've got flat screens, magazines, comfy chairs etc. This place is the goods. I've tried a lot of places. I used to go Premium Barber Shop, Classic Barber Shop, Euro Beauty, Astor Place etc. Heck I've even tried the hipsters over at Freemans or Barber Shop or whatever its called now. I've been without a consistent barber shop for several months, and until today it had been nearly 2 months since my last haircut. Going to a new barber is scary, and I've been to a few pretty bad places lately...so before I finally decided to enter this location for a haircut I'd walked around the neighborhood looking at a few other barber shops in area. I stood outside and looked in the window of this place and was really impressed by how clean it was. I stepped inside and definitely wasn't disappointed. To say the place is spotless is an understatement. This place is PRISTINE and all of the prices are displayed clearly on a sign just outside of the door (prices are GREAT!). Jake, the owner and my barber, was a consummate professional and really knew what he was doing. I explained what I wanted and he understood right away. He also noticed that the barber I last went to was awful and really messed up my hair. I can honestly say I haven't been this happy with a barber shop in a very long time, and I will definitely be a regular from now on. Needed a haircut bad and couldn't hold out until I was back in Boston to visit my regular guy. So took the plunge on a new barber, a scary endeavor for sure with unknown results, but I guess what? I loved it. Mike was great: friendly, interesting, and great with the razor blades and the scissors. Came out with a great haircut, shampoo, and new insights. I don't think the owner of the shop was in, and my experience got off to an awkward start when the two barbers on duty got into an argument about having undercharged the previous customer. The younger guy would not let it go, so I spent the first three minutes sitting in the chair listening to him berate the older guy (my barber) for undercharging his customer. I understand that he was upset, but the professional thing to do would be to keep it to himself until there were no customers in the store. My barber apologized for the situation. I'm happy to say that the haircut that followed was superb. I went looking for a new barber because my previous one completely stopped paying attention to the finer details (careful edging, eyebrows, making sure everything was symmetrical, shaping my beard around my mouth, straight razor around the ears and neck). I got an undercut with no fade that was done perfectly, and the beard trimming and edging was done slowly, carefully, and symmetrically. The straight razor work on the neck and around the ears was also much appreciated, as clippers usually irritate my skin. I cannot think of any way this haircut could have been better save for not walking into an awkward argument. I will definitely return for the fine attention to detail. read more

Ridiculous barbershop all around. I waited 45 minutes until the barber notified me that he couldn't cut my hair because he had to close. In what world do you make a customer wait 45 minutes and then let them know that you won't be able to provide them a service? Horrible customer service and zero management. There was only one barber when I went. I will not return here again. Absolute worst service I've had in the city. Avoid this place and head elsewhere. read more

I needed a haircut badly, but I was nervous about going to a new barber shop. I've been to Sigfrido's and Astor Place, and they were good but not exactly what I was looking for. I found Classic Shave thru Yelp, and I'll never go anywhere else in the city. $16 for a cut AND razor neck shave with a hot towel at the end. I'm originally from NJ and not even my favorite barber shop there has that kind of deal. They even have a rewards card - get 10 cuts, and the next one is on them. Jake is a great guy too. Hands down best haircut ever. Moved to Manhattan from San Francisco in fall 2015 and was a bit weary of finding a good barber and basically struck gold in the hood. Jacob and his counterparts pay ridiculous attention to detail from the straight edge razor shave, fade, face, etc. I literally go in now and they know exactly what I want. Jacob will also do this hot towel thing on your face at the end which is clutch. The fact they only charge $16 (I tip 25% on top of that so $20 total) is a steal! Service such as theirs will go for double that in San Francisco. On a side note their choice of 90's hip hop in the shop is added plus. read more

" Yo! I only do my people " This is what I was greeted with when I walked in and had a seat. I've been to this shop about 5 times and have always gone to the same guy. The last time I came I wasn't to happy with the cut, so I decided to try someone else, there's only three barbers. I figured it's not so unreasonable, I mean how else are you supposed to find a barber you're comfortable with? The barber who told me this is the younger of the three. I think his name is Mike ( not 100% ) he told me to go to the other guy, the one I wasn't to happy with the last time. I said " it's okay I'd like to try you" - which was extremely uncomfortable - I had already gestured to the other guy that I was going to wait for the other guy and it didn't seem to bother him. But the young guy decides to order me to go to him and tells me " well then your gonna have to wait I guess I guess you like waiting " If it is a by appointment only shop they should say so. It clearly says on the front window " Walk ins are welcome " but apparently it's only if you're their people! read more

I usually shave my own head, but due to a broken arm, I've been forced to frequent barber shops. How hard is it to shave someone's head you may ask, but you'd be surprised how often I've paid good money for a sloppy job. Don't know the guy's name, but he did an immaculate job, with straight razor neck shave and hot towel, in just a few minutes. Cheaper than most too! Where do I start. I came here after my first choice shop was all booked up. I walked in and the one barber was sitting with his feet up on the front desk. The place was dark and empty. First of all, I asked if there was a discount for a buzz cut - and there was. However I may have been wrong about the haircut that I've been getting for years and calling it a buzz cut. II get a 2 on top and 1.5 on the sides and back. I was told that a buzz cut was just one number all around, so mine counted as a regular hair cut. If I am wrong in my definition, so be it. He didn't take his time, and I was in and out in about 10 minutes. However my biggest gripe - and it's a huge one - is that he gave me a straight line in back. I ALWAYS keep it natural. He didn't even ask how I wanted it. Even if he didn't ask, wouldn't it be kind of obvious by the way it grew in?! Needless to say, I will be staying far away from this place. I've tried a few barbershop in the Gramercy area but never found one I wanted to go back to. It's always nerve-wracking trying out a new barbershop, but this place is definitely going to be my new regular barbershop. First thing you notice when you walk in is that it is extremely clean. The decor is pretty nice, and you feel comfortable right away. The guys here are pros and really know what they are doing. They take their time and do exactly what you ask for. They also offer some good advice on what looks good and keep a friendly atmosphere. The cut ends with a superb razor neck shave with hot shaving cream and a hot towel to the face and neck.
