I requested a low taper fade and to trim down the top of my head a little. this guy proceeds to not give me a fade its just the same length all around. and on top it's super short and uneven. this is one of the worst cuts I've ever gotten. to top it off the owner of the place starts giving out shots of liquor for himself and customers halfway through. read more

Great Barber shop, Great Barbers. The walk-in aspect of their business is a plus, you might wait a little bit but it's well worth it because they can do a detailed sharp haircut quickly and efficiently. The vibe and design of this place is clean, vintage & comfortable. Rafael & Gary have been very accommodating and given me some really clean haircuts. The shop is always upbeat, relaxing environment, and Nikki has always done great work for the many years she has been cutting my hair and my 3 boys 2-7-10 years old! First off, when you walk in you're gonna be very impressed with the aesthetics and layout of this barber. Secondly, you'll notice very clean and friendly staff. Lastly, and most important is their super skillful and professional staff. Since leaving the barbershop I have been going to for ever 12 years, I was having trouble finding a new place to go. Right in my own backyard is Speakeasy! Told Rafael exactly what I wanted and he cut it to perfection. Nice hot towel at the end is a nice touch. Clean place, mellow music, we had a cool conversation about how he is a 5th generation barber and has very high standards for his employees. The owner does a good job cutting hair while being polite and friendly. I went for a second haircut on Tuesday 12/19/17 when a woman cut my hair. Her clippers must not have been disinfected because I developed a rash (first burning, now itchy) on my neck within 24 hours after her cutting my hair. I have been getting skin fades for years and this has NEVER happened. I called and spoke to the owner on Wednesday 12/20/17 who told me to send him photos because that's "not supposed to happen." I sent photos and later called to ask if they were received. The owner brushed me off quickly saying he's "been really busy and hasn't had a chance to look at the photos." It is now two days later (Friday 12/22/17) and I've yet to hear from the owner. read more

A friend recommended the place for my husband to go to. He loves it. When it was time for my son to get his first cut, we brought him there. Rafael (the owner) gave him a great cut and was really accommodating for us capturing the moment with photos. Talk about Dapper! Finally a barber in Wantagh that provides stellar service at a fair price. I've tried various barbershops since moving to Wantagh 9 years ago (even Mad Men down the block), and without a doubt these guys hit the mark. Rafael (the owner) is a great, genuine guy with an impeccable attention to detail - this matters when you cut hair for a living. But the attention to detail extends to the shop with the dapper accoutrements throughout the space, providing a nice environment as well as the "Dapper Effects" that are available for sale, such as The Holy Black New York pomade, amongst other items. Did I mention he's actually at the shop all the time, cutting hair? It's nice to see an owner who knows his craft and is not just in it for the investment. Just got one of the best haircuts ive ever gotten in my life. Came here directly after receiving a poor haircut at another place. Immediately the owner Rafael hopped up and sat me down in his chair. Not only did he fix my busted haircut; I got one of the best cuts I've ever had, and he didnt even charge me anything to fix it. Normal prices are extremely reasonable too, $18 for a cut. Much cheaper than these other trendy "gentleman's" barbershops with their whiskey and pool tables. He's been cutting hair for 17 years and it shows. Used to go to Mad Men until I didn't want to pay top dollar but substandard service. So I decided to try this place out as they were much closer to my home. The Store is a bit small but the decor inside is really nice, the stylists/barbers were very friendly, and it's priced very fairly. Will be going back again when I need another haircut. read more

Since I moved to Wantagh I have been on the hunt for a barber that is closer than Sal the Barber in Lindenhurst (he is amazing). Raphael at the Speakeasy does not disappoint. The girl (I don't know her name) is also great! Amazing service and great with my kids as well. After going to Sal AKA Adams Barber shop for years I needed a new place. Enter The Speakeasy, same location as Adams. Friendly and knowledgeable barber. 4th time going there and I am greeted with a hello and welcome back. He knows how I like my hair cut. Today I got a straightedge hot towel shave. If you want to know how good of a barber he is, get a hot towel shave, you will know in all of 2 minutes. Well it was one of if not the most enjoyable shaves I have ever had.
