On a whim, I stopped at this lot to check out an SUV on the lot. Test drove it a very short,…read morestandard path and liked it. Was keeping options open and spent the next four days considering other lots and vehicles. Had an appt to have someone look at the car one afternoon, and the salesman and owner called three times before the appt, once as early as 7:45.
I decieded to buy from this company, and left the lot on a Friday afternoon. After one trip home and back to town, the car begins to produce a burning smell. I left the car at Walmart overnight until I could take it a shop. Upon returning, there was a huge puddle where the radiator had nearly completely leaked out.
I take it to the nearest shop (with a good online reputation) and they find a rusted clamp on a radiator hose that was causing the leak. They flushed the system as it was virtually empty and replace an pretty old fuel filter as well.
Luckily, the total was less than $400 and I contacted Auto Brokers Saturday morning about the fiasco.
When they found I took to a shop other than their's, they gave a speech about how much cheaper their hourly rates were, and how much I could have saved if I used them, yadda yadda..
I kept thinking, 'Why would I bring the car back to you, because if your mechanic had done his job, he would have found the leak before it ever left the lot'. Oh, and all four tires were pretty low on air pressure too, so I guess their 'complete car check' isn't very complete after all. I never should have had to take the car into a shop, any shop, after having the car for less than 24 hours. There is no way this car lot could not have known about the leak, as it didnt just start hours after I took possesion.
I was hoping for reimbursement of the car repairs, but wasn't successful. Instead of a reimbursement check, I got a second speel about how I should bring the car back to them in the future as they are cheaper. I think I will pass on that offer, cause you get what you pay for.
A positive note, I did think the salesman was a decent human being. He was friendly and polite.
Bottom line, unless you have a very reliable mechanic you can bring with you, I would likely recommend to just drive on by this lot.
