I try to support as many local shops I am able. Having said that, this shop is not only local, family owned they also have a paint shop and just about anything you need to be safe while riding. I was initially happy with these guys but after the work wasn't done that I had the bike there for I'm now pretty pissed..I saved up for 6 months to get this fixed and it wasnt ..my bike was gone for 5 weeks and basically a new battery that wasn't needed was installed and a wheel spacer that wasn't needed for 2k....that's around $75 bucks ....a month later the battery blew up and left me stranded in Portland.....the $150 an hour mechanic needs to go to motorcycle school or something this was an easy fix and he even said himself that he never got around to do the wiring...... read more

I brought my '97 GL1500 in for a safety inspection. They were able to replace parts and get my bike back to me in less than a week. While I was waiting a gentleman helped me find an led light bar for my hitch cover. After he left I found out he didn't even work there. Lol. I'm new to the Longview area, and recently purchased a new used motorcycle. The new motorcycle needs tires. Wanted to do business with locals, I google searched and found this business. I stopped by yesterday which was Monday and was greeted by your friendly man at the door saying that they weren't open on Mondays and to come back tomorrow. I returned to their location Tuesday today, found a woman at the front counter told her what I was looking for she got a drag specialty catalog but couldn't find the particular tire I was looking for. While she was attempting to look up on the computer I asked if I could look at the catalog, she said sure. I took the catalog in quickly found the exact tires that I was looking for. The lady behind the counter looked up the prices of the tires and wrote them down on a piece of paper. Then said she would check if there were any discounts or specials. She came back saying there was a 15% discount on those tires and continue to calculate the new price. I noted the price she was writing down word considerably higher than prices I had seen elsewhere online. Didn't say anything she asked if I was going to bring the wheels in or if I wanted a price from them to remove the wheels balance and mount the tires. I told her I wanted a complete price including removing the tires and the wheels from the bike mount the new tires and balancing it and then replacing the tires wheels. She use the computer to look up what the flat rate number of hours it was to remove and replace the front and rear tire came back with a 2 1/2 hour estimate at $95 an hour. At this point I said to her what you're saying is is that you're going to charge me over $200 in labor to mount and balance two tires that I buy from your store. I commented that was on top of charging well over $100 more for the tires that I had seen elsewhere. Her comment was she has a lot of overhead and has to pay the bills. Two that I responded I didn't think that was anyway to run a business. But this time the guy that hit met me at the door yesterday came out from the office wearing requisite Harley dew rag. He was looking at me in a menacing way indicating that he was upset with something. He then commented that I was being rude for commenting about their pricing. He continued that this was his wife shop and she could run it anyway she wanted. And that to leave their shop. Again this was in a very menacing way that he put this obviously trying to intimidate me. A few more words went back-and-forth I was maintaining my cool he was getting more angry by the moment. So I felt it best to leave as I left the door he said good luck I commented didn't need it and with that he flipped me off. I commented back to him nice way to run a business buddy. Can you flip me again at that point I told him to "F" off. I might add to all this experience with this "" business this is not the first time I have run into this type of attitude in an establishment that specializes in Harley Davidson's. I must also add that I worked both in a Harley independent shop as a technician and a Harley dealership in the sales department. I have seen much of this type of over macho attitude in these businesses. Personally I think they don't have much business and that's why they overcharge anybody that comes in so they can pay their bills. Do yourself a favor drive a few miles go to a dealership or a shop that really wants your business. I know I'll be going to Vancouver for my tires that's for sure. Where to begin.. I've held my tongue for months now, but can't anymore (after riding my motorcycle today.) Let's begin with my first and second experience with them. If these were my only two experiences, then my rating for them would be a 5. Unfortunately.. Experience three and four were horrible!! My Husband and I took our bikes in on the same day to have issues fixed. Him a flat tire and myself a clutch issue. After four days they called and stated that my bike was finished, which was confusing considering it was a clutch and not a tire.. Not to make this long, it was not my bike that was finished. Went in to pay for my Husbands bike and noticed that his new white wall tire was put on the bike and not cleaned off at all. It looked like every mechanic touched it while putting it back on the bike. Ok.. I'm paying over 400.00 for a tire, make it look new. Now to my bike... Received a phone call saying that my bike was fixed, then received another call stating that they test drove it and there is something else wrong (after they said that they fixed it.) I swear that it was taken apart at least twice!! Then... After almost a month of it in the shop, I call to pick it up and they say it's done. I go to pick it up and am asked if I'm going to ride it on long distances?.. What? Yes, I was going to ride it to the Oyster Run. Seriously? Almost a month and over 400.00 for you to not fix the issue. Then tell me that they will adjust my clutch for free.. At that point (as pissed off as I was) I paid for a few parts and a ton of useless labor for NOTHING! To put the nail in the coffin... I rode it the next day and the bolt that connects the shift lever fell out while riding on the highway.. Luckily I'm not a new rider and the bolt didn't fall out on the Hwy. I will never take my motorcycle back to this establishment! Tried to stay local. read more

Perhaps the best way to do this is to post a copy of the email I sent to "Leah" who said she was the owner. Email is as follows: During my 32 years of self-employment in the rental and retail business I always encouraged my customers to give me feedback on their experience. Sometimes it was very positive, sometimes not so much but always welcome as I did my best to build a strong customer base. After all, advertising is wasted money compared to satisfied customers. I have no idea if you want feedback or not so I'll assume you might find it interesting. I have a Harley FLT I bought new in 1988, cosmetically it is in superior condition for a 28 year old bike with 74k miles on it. Like any older Harley, it requires mechanical service and repair now and then. Harley retail shops won't work on a bike over 10 years old, the only exception I found to that was the shop in Yakima where I bought it, they took care of it for me until I moved too far away. Garage mechanics are a mixed bag and small repair shops seem to come and go like the seasons. I moved to a floating home in Oregon six years ago and have had nothing but poor experiences with the shops I have tried to do business with in this area. I called Uncaged a couple of weeks ago, spoke to a fellow named Todd and he was very courteous, knowledgeable and friendly on the phone. I explained I was looking for a shop that I could call "my shop" and have all my service needs handled. My immediate concerns was blinkers not working and horn not working but he told me about your $150 inspection and that sounded great so I made an appointment. He even asked me for my Oregon drivers license number so I would not have to pay Washington sales tax...very thoughtful. The lady who took care of me when I brought in my bike was also very helpful and I really liked the walk-around she did making notes of existing dings etc., that's good for both dealer and customer in my view. I came to pick up the bike today, I was pleased with the lady who took my $400 cash payment. She said my requested repairs, horn and blinkers, had been completed but that there was a list of concerns she wanted the mechanic to go over with me. The mechanic brought the bike around and in the next two minutes made me feel as if I should just drive it directly to the dump. When I pressed for specific issues we finally ended with 'it leaks oil so it needs lower gaskets replaced and swing arm bearings. In my mind that didn't justify the demeaning comments originally made. Well, heck, none of us want to be told that our goods are worthless, some degree of tact should be in play. I said that I assumed that someone would have called to tell me of existing issues because, had I known, I would have just left the bike there with instructions to make the necessary repairs. His reply was that you would have been too busy to do it anyway, there were other bikes to work on. Ok, I know the riding season is beginning but wait, isn't my money as good as someone elses? I had said from the beginning I wanted it road-worthy. I told him I had no plans for a lot of riding this summer and perhaps I could bring it back in the fall for whatever it needs. None of this angered me in any way, I do realize that the back shop people may not be as customer-conscience as the front crew. I think his original approach could have been more thoughtful and my bike isn't a turd, it is beautiful and drew such comments from two other customers who were sitting on the bench out front. I did not ride away mad but I also did not ride away thinking I had finally found the shop I wanted to return to exclusively. After I crossed the bridge back to Oregon I tried both blinkers and they did indeed work properly. Additionally, I think you may have inadvertently fixed whatever electrical problem has existed for years that caused the volt meter to never show what independent meters would show, that was nice. I then tried the horn and I was very disappointed. I don't think that horn could be heard across the street and it certainly would never alert a car driver with windows rolled up. I didn't question the price of the repairs, I didn't even look at the invoice until I got home...yes, my bad... and found that in spite of Todd's good intentions, I had been charged $23 for Washington sales tax after all. I had a nice ride home and that gave me some time to think over the experience. Did I find the shop I want to stay with? Honestly, I'm still on the fence about that. Emotions seem to dull over time so I will think on that for a while. I was not at all unhappy with prices or the front staff. The mechanic could use some polish but that doesn't mean he might not be a good mechanic. So, that's my review. On a scale to 10 I would probably have to go with a six because my original concerns were blinkers and horn and while the horn does make some noise, I had to loosen and lift my helmet off my ear to even hear it clearly. read more

I inherited my dad's bike and maintained it to the best of my abilities for five years. March of 2015 I had set some money aside to have pop's bike professionally gone through. I considered going to the dealer but wanted to stay local. On March 19th I rode the bike to uncaged for the following issues, heavy clutch pull, drive belt replacement, oil line replacement, speedometer cable replacement, front end/wheel imbalance and a general tune up including timing and carburetor. On April 22 I received a call the bike was ready for pick up. I paid cash and tipped Frank the mechanic a $100 dollar bill considering the bill was $1,380.51 this seemed fair. The oil pressure light was on when I started the bike and didn't go out, I asked why and Dale said it was most likely electrical. Frank said he had checked the tank and oil was moving in there so not to worry and come back with any problems. I pulled away headed to the gas station, I hit the stop light and no rear brakes. I figure needs bled or maybe pushing the pistons out from having new pads installed. Engine getting noisy and isn't idling, now I'm just hoping to get home safely. Come to find out my rear brake is cracked from cross threading, engine isn't oiling because they routed the lines in a loop bypassing the motor, rear axle is loose and rubbing on the suspension, speedometer cable is incorrect and zip tied to my turn signal, carburetor is also leaking. I call Leah and explain in a respectful manner my concerns, I am asked to bring the bike back. I couldn't force myself to bring back my dad's only bike to the people who had obviously made more than just a simple mistake. I hauled my bike down to Portland, dropped it off and explained my experience. After a few days Harley calls and confirmed the issues and recommended an engine inspection considering being run without oil. I called Todd at that time and asked for a refund and I'd be on my way. He denied a refund and offered a set of tires, the bike wouldn't run at that point and new tires was an anemic offer. I returned to uncaged after my phone calls were not answered or returned and tried to settle again. Todd and Leah looked at the repairs and invoices from Harley and still denied any wrongdoing or refund. I filed with small claims court on October 16th 2015, I was encouraged by the court to resolve before the hearing. I tried again through phone and email for a resolution and only received one email from Todd stating he'd see me in court. On December 8th 2015 our hearing was held and I won a judgement of $1264.00 to be paid by January 8th 2016. I still have not received payment and am currently seeking garnishment/ liens for the judgement. My total money paid now for the further repair and engine damage is drastically more than the judgement. Respectfully, Chance. read more

took my zrx in for a tune up it was backfiring and had a hesitation I had a carb issue.. drop it off told them my bike never ever goes out in the rain thats why its really clean like you can eat off the motor clean I take very good care of my bike , well got a call from them the next day said my bike was out of oil really I said I just changed it, it holds 3 quarts I just put 3 quarts of lucas 10w -40 semi synthetic in it. dale the supposed mechanic said it was out of oil and he would not work on it and that was my problem it was out of oil I told him he was wrong you have to stand the bike up level to check it he said no it should show on the glass when leaned over on the stand bullshit I told him stood the bike up guess what shows full really!! I rode it the day before 15 miles to get it there if it was out of oil it won't ever start.this place needs to hire competent people really they can't even check the oil level so they told me I needed to take it home they couldn't help me I said fine . I had to call a friend to bring me my helmet and jacket my bike was sitting in the parking lot in the pouring down rain I had to ride it home in the rain in shorts not too pleasant . when I called to set up the repair and talked to leah she said they could fix it no problem bring it over obviously that was that was not the case .
