Stopped in Lorne while doing the Great Ocean Road for a pit-stop cause we thought it was one of the larger cities along the Great Ocean Road with a larger selection of restaurants for lunch options! We walked down the little strand and was met with a handful of options, including an Indian place right next door! After much deliberation, we decided on umisango and definitely did not regret our decision! The food was fresh and pretty good for the middle of nowhere! We didn't expect to get good sushi out in Lorne but we were pleasantly surprised! The grilled squid was legit grilled squid, not battered, and came with a teriyaki sauce. Good deal. The sashimidon looked delicious, with large chunks of fish. I definitely enjoyed my unagidon, it was what I expected to get - tasty and delicious! I agree the portions were a little on the smaller side, but the food was good and the service was great! We had a friendly server, who came out and checked on us often. There is a small sitting area inside the restaurant, and a few outdoor picnic tables as well! Watch for the cockatoos; they want to steal your food/leftovers! We wish they had the green tea soft serve they advertised, but they didn't put it in that morning cause it was a little on the colder side for Lorne this time of year! Overall, we enjoyed the food and service here and would recommend it if you're making the trek along Great Ocean Road and happen to crave sushi and stop in Lorne! read more
