We've walked by this place so many times and so happy we finally stopped in. The ambiance and service were wonderful. We did not feel rushed and enjoyed our meal thoroughly. We opted for the 4 course meal at $55 per person. It was nice for us to be able to try a little bit of everything and it was more than enough food for the two of us. Our favorites were the meatballs and bone marrow! Pastas were fresh and amazingly well flavored and cooked. Limoncello cake was the best dessert. Will definitely come back to try other menu items. Great for a date night or girls night out! read more

Umile Trattoria was a wonderful surprise on a beautiful Thursday evening. The interior is bright, and if you're lucky enough to sit by the giant picture window, you'll feel like you're in an open-air environment. Their pastas are not made in house, but they do arrive to the restaurant fresh (i.e. - not Ronzoni). - Ceasar salad - this was exceptionally good. I see what folks are raving about - Stuffed Pork Meatballs - good - Roasted Brussels Sprouts - they could have used a little more time in the oven, as they were undercooked - Wildfether Paccheri Alla Vodka - very smooth - Wild Mushroom Ravioli - nice texture - Pepperoni Pizza - excellent char - Limoncello Cake - we took this to go and enjoyed it later. Very good! The waitstaff is efficient and friendly. I appreciate when they know the menu inside and out. We will return! read more

My family and I sat outside and chose the fixed price dinners which came with choice of appetizer, salad main course and dessert. The portions were huge. I enjoyed my salad but the calamari appetizer was soaked in a really spicy sauce and I did not enjoy it. The peach and burrata pizza was just okay. We took dessert home. It was nice sitting outside service was a little slow. The others enjoyed some portions of their meal but we all agreed it was just mediocre. Sorry no pictures of what we ordered. read more

Beautiful restaurant-delicious food and decent service! What more can I say? I also love the neighborhood and there's street parking for a nominal fee. I'd definitely recommend for a nice intimate bite. read more

Returned to Umile for a retirement party in their private room in the back. Service was great, and the food as always delicious. The pizzas especially the peach, prosciute, burrata pie was amazing. The appetizers and salads were also delicious. Went out on a limb and tried the bone marrow, wow was not expecting such great flavor! The main meals awesome! The pork chop parmesan was great and the sauce on the spaghetti fantastic. I can't say enough about the food. Leave room for dessert because they were great as well. Only issue was The room was very warm and could have used some better AC. It was 100° outside but that room needs some better AC. Especially with 15 people in it. read more

This BYOB restaurant is SUPERB! I mean, being owned by the same peeps as Crumb and Gouldsburger's....how could we not be in for a treat?! You know the bread is at least going to be out of this world. My friend and I dined here on a week night, and boy was it popping! I love the ambiance- I felt like I was dining at my grandmother's house. It's small, cozy and decorated like your grandmothers living room or study. The menu is pretty small, but rotating. We started with the Italian Wedge "caesar." Who can go wrong with a caesar, but the jammy egg and proscuitto crisps were the star! Truly a great take on a caesar and huge, may I add. For our mains we shared the corn and ricotta pizza and the mushroom pasta. Both were absolutely OUTSTANDING! It has been some time since visiting and my mouth is still watering thinking about both plates. We were absolutely stuffed by the end but thrilled to take home some leftovers. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food. I would 100% return, I just wish there were some more gluten free options so my husband could accompany me! read more

The ambience was nice, but unfortunately the food and service were just mediocre, especially for what we paid. Our meal included one appetizer, one salad, a pasta dish, and a pork entrée, totaling $122 (and this was a BYOB, so that did not include drinks). The caprese appetizer was disappointing. The tomatoes tasted and looked like they came from a local supermarket, and I even received the end slice with the small center hole. For a simple dish like caprese, I would expect better-quality tomatoes, perhaps heirloom, to really highlight the ingredients. I ordered the gluten-free pasta with vodka sauce, but the sauce was full of shallots/onion. There was so much that I had to pick it out, which was frustrating. I also found the menu a little misleading regarding gluten-free options. Some dishes appeared to be able to be made gluten-free, but when we arrived, we were told the gnocchi dish could only be made gluten-free by substituting GF penne -- not actual gluten-free gnocchi. My husband's dish was also disappointing. The pasta was over al dente and needed another minute or so of cooking, and there was barely any sauce on the dish. Overall, the food felt underwhelming and lacking the attention to detail you would expect. The service also could have been better. We had to remind our server about the bread and my husband's soda. After being reminded about the bread, instead of bringing a basket to the table, she walked around and handed out individual slices. It was a small thing, but it added to the overall impression of a lack of attentiveness. After that, her attitude seemed to change, although the service felt much warmer when it was time to bring the check and we received a friendly "hope you have a nice night." Overall, the atmosphere was enjoyable, but the food quality and service did not match the price. Unfortunately, it was just an average dining experience. read more

I went here for Valentine's Day date with my significant other. I did my reservations through OpenTable. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by staff. Warm smiles, and they seemed excited about us being there. The hostess arrived, and before taking us to our seats, offered a verbal tour of the menu, telling us his favorites and must haves. The place is small and intimate. They have bar seating around the kitchen, where you can see all the action. I saw a young man twirling doe in the air, which made the experience. We were seated almost near a large window where you can see the hustle and bustle of Haddonfield. Directly across the street is the iconic Wild Fether distillery. One complaint I have, is that the chairs to sit down and these pressed metal chairs. They are very very uncomfortable. Made me want to eat and get out of that place immediately. We ordered: Black Truffle Rotolo Pizzaiola Brussels Sprouts Margherita Pizza It was my first time eating Rotolo, if I can describe the look and texture of a cinnamon bun, but the taste of a black truffle pizza of sorts. It was confusing for me. However my lady loved it. The Brussels sprouts were to brag about. Very uniquely made, with a pop of interesting flavors. One of the best I have had. The pizza, where I enjoyed a few slices at the restaurant, and the rest of the pie for my breakfast, was great. It had a nice tin crunch, and met my pizza needs. Overall, we had a great evening. And will come again. read more

The newest addition to Haddonfield dining. It's a lovely, small space on Kings Highway downtown with great ambiance and great food. My girlfriend and I came here for the first time on a Friday night. We had a reservation for 7:30 and were seated right away when we arrived. The dining area is small, but it's a really nice atmosphere with a giant window overlooking the street and sidewalk outside, and countertop seating that overlooks the cooking area. Our table was right next to several shelves that held various glassware, which made it a little awkward every time the waitstaff reached past us to grab something. There was also a separate dining space downstairs in the basement in a soon-to-be-open gourmet hotdog place. This area lacked the same charm as the main dining room and I would have been upset if we had been seated here. We ordered the Harvest Burrata (very good), the Lemon-Horseradish Cavatelli (also very good), the duck special (excellent, though the portion was quite small) and the pumpkin tiramisu for dessert (we both agreed this was not that good). Definitely one of the more expensive restaurants in Haddonfield, but overall worth the price. We had a lovely night out and would recommend this place to others. read more

This place is amazing and has an authentic Italian taste! The pastas are cooked well and the sauce is very delicious and flavorful. I'll recommend the Wildfether Ala Vodka. It has thick noodles but the flavor is really good. The pizza is somewhat Neapolitan/thin crust style pizza. I highly recommend this place for the service and food. read more

Our first time eating at Umile was pretty great! We went on NYE and I appreciate how they take reservations. The space is very small, so it's probably a good idea to get a reservation for dinner. We sat at the counter which was cool because they have an open kitchen where you can watch everything happen. It's your typical Italian cuisine with more seasonal options as well. Our favorite dish was the wildfeather alla vodka pasta. Hands down the best pasta dish I've had this year, and I will definitely be back for that! read more

Ok, I don't often leave reviews anymore, but, my friends and I tried Umile last night and were blown away. We went in with low expectations, though the menu sounded great. We are just so used to eating out in the area and having a mediocre experience. The food was truly so well done, so delicious, and special. We sat at the counter, and the chef and owner made it a point to check in on us. It felt like one of the best dining experiences in NYC. The complimentary bread - I'd eat an entire loaf. Bone marrow appetizer - perfectly prepared, comparable to an upscale steak house. Short rib pizza - why was the cheese so tasty? Was it the fontina. The cheese pull... and the crust was chewy like I love my crust to be. Rigatoni - Insane. The perfect al dente on that house-made pasta. Heaven. Ricotta cheesecake - Usually desserts feel like an afterthought. Huge portion, very shareable. So creamy, so dairy forward. Aftertaste of creamsicle from the orange. Perfect way to end the meal. As a resident who lives around the corner, thank you for bringing your amazing establishment onto this side of Haddon ;) read more

We tried this place last Friday . Another fun addition to haddonfield restaurant scene . The menus not huge but had a lots of variation. Pasta , pizza and salad.... Who doesn't love these favorites . The waiter didn't seem too informed about the menu. We noticed the other waitresses explaining the menu and the options. We brought wine to start off the dinner. We opted for a Humble salad. We loved all the ingredients and the punchy dressing. It was a really good salad. We also wanted the sausage pizza we were sad that they Ran out of sausage so we opted for the pepperoni pizza. The pizza was so good and fresh. The sauce was perfect and the high quality pepperoni was so delicious. We also shared the wild feather alla vodka. This pasta was so savory has pepperoni which was so good. It wasn't greasy at all. So savory and delicious. We were going to order an entree but we were full sharing the three dishes. The only criticism I have is the lighting. It was so crazy bright in there. I am used to restaurant having more moody lighting. I felt like I was in a car dealership. I think a dimmer will do you well. was all In all a solid spot. Make that reservation and try a new hot spot! read more

We went here for a date night last night and had a lovely time! We made a reservation for 7:45 and were seated right when we arrived. The restaurant is very small and only has about 8 tables and 6 bar seats. The room has a nice large window looking out onto the sidewalk and street. I thought the lighting was too bright for time of night. We had ordered to share the Alla Vodka pasta, Sausage pizza, and romaine salad. Our waitress told us that we would be getting complimentary focaccia bread, which I was very excited to try, but it never came. Our dishes came out all at the same time and very quickly! The salad was very tasty and I liked the added crunch of the prosciutto. The sausage pizza had a lovely sauce and their sausage was made in house. The sausage was very well made! Our favorite dish of the night was the alla vodka pasta. It was bursting with flavor and the sauce had just the right amount of spice! For dessert, we had the Banana+Nutella Budino. It had a slightly overpowering banana flavor, but it was a great texture and consistency. We enjoyed our dinner and would come back in the future to try other items on their menu! read more

The Best food in Haddonfield. I love this chef so much. I've been to all of his restaurants and one is better than the next. He does everything perfectly. If you order a pizza, you're getting the best gourmet pizza. If you go to his other restaurant and order a burger, you better believe it's going to be the best damn burger you ever had. As soon as I read about Umile Trattoria ("ooh-mee-lay" - meaning "humble" in Italian) opening in early October in Haddonfield I had it at the top of my list. Owners/Chefs David Murray and Walter Gouldsbury III are not rookies to the scene - owning Gouldsburgers in Haddonfield with a recent second location just opening in Philly - serving up some of the best burgers and cheesesteaks in the area. Umile may be offering humble and comfortable Italian fare like homemade pizzas and pastas but it is anything but humble when it comes to flavor and creativity in the dishes. I was dying to try the "black truffle rotolo" which is a semolina bun dough, stuffed with roasted mushrooms, summer truffle peelings, parmigiano-reggiano and topped with a black truffle mascarpone. The mushroom stuffing was reminiscent of the mushroom duxelles in a beef wellington - to die for!!! I'd order 2 of these next time even though it was huge. We also ordered an amazing autumn salad (not pictured) with arugula, apple, butternut squash, craisins, gorgonzola, pumpkin seeds and a maple-cider vinaigrette. We went with the short rib pizza - next to the rotolo one of the best things I've eaten since I've been allowed to cheat again. This pizza was a thin, crispy, hot crust of heaven - I literally could have eaten the entire thing but I did let my lunch companion have 2 slices. The pizza was topped with short rib, soffrito, fontina, mozzarella, brown butter-butternut squash purée and fried sage leaves. I can't begin to describe the flavors - each bite better than the last. My friend got the chicken saltimbocca sandwich upon our server's recommendation and said it was excellent. I'm still dying to try the house crafted pastas and the desserts on the menu as I plan to return soon for dinner. I wouldn't wait too long to get over there as seats will be filling up once word starts to spread about this new gem in Haddonfield. read more

Everything was delicious, can't wait to go back. I have zero complaints. Even our child loved everything.

From start to finish my party of three were blown away. Totally blown away. Service was friendly and we loved that the owners took the time to come around and introduce themselves and inquire how we were liking our meals. We went for restaurant week (3 courses $45 ea). We had the burrata nest, the cauliflower caponata, and the garlic shrimp as apps. All were completely amazing! I'd order them again in a heartbeat. Entrees included the cavatelli, the paccheri alle vodka, and the bucatini alle vongele- omg each was just brilliant. Pasta cooked perfectly and flavors were spot on! Now dessert- we had the lemon ricotta cheesecake, the apple cake, and the homemade gelato. All were outstanding- I cannot recommend Umile Trattoria enough. A beautiful atmosphere and well executed menu with owner/chefs that are clearly passionate about food and a wonderful dining experience. Can't wait to return! read more

My friends and I had the pleasure of dining at Umile during Haddonfield Restaurant Week at the counter, and it was one of the best restaurant experiences we've ever had!! Not only was all of the food incredible (literally no notes there), the service and staff were amazing as well. You can tell how close knit the staff is and how well they are treated by the owners, who by the way are the nicest guys you will ever meet!! Had the pleasure of dining at Haddonfield's newest gem, Umile Trattoria tonight - it was SO good! We got the Truffle Rotolo and Burrata for an appetizer. The Rotolo was so so unique and the Burrata might be the best I've had in a longggg time! Between a group of 5 of us we tried the Agnolotti (so good and different), Alla Vodka, Butternut Squash Bucatini and pepperoni pizza - it was all delicious! The icing on the cake was dessert - apple crumble butterscotch gelato was out of this world and pear tarte was delish. Dave (the owner) was so nice and friendly and you could tell this place is a labor of love! We will be back! Thanks for a great night, Umile! Looking forward to many more! read more

If I could give it 10 stars I would. I had a simple pepperoni pizza that was amazing!!! Service is spot on and the small spot in Haddonfield is easy to miss so drive slow. WAY TOO BRIGHT! What is up with all the south jersey restaurants off of Haddon Ave turning the lights up so bright? It's kills the ambiance. Turn the lights down. Add some candles. I want to come to dinner and relax. Not examine my food in what feels like a high school science class. The glow from the dining room bleeds on to the outside sidewalk. We almost didn't want to walk inside because we thought we stumbled upon the DMV, not our dinner reservation. Also the food needs salt. I got the pork chop which was cooked well, but it was very thick with only a thin layer of seasoning on the outside. So the inner bites of the thick meat tasted like nothing. Pizza is fine. Bricco down the street is way better. Don't come here for pizza. Our server seemed green. Nervous. And everything on the menu was "her favorite". Which is not a good sell. I lose trust when servers "love everything on the menu". Also skip dessert. Not worth it. The hype of Umile is only about a new place in town that isn't flooded miserable older people like most restaurants in the area. This place brings in a younger crowd which is good for the town. New generations are moving in and Haddonfield needs to push away the stuffy grumps. And stop with the "dry town" crap. It's outdated and just weird. You now have a distillery, brewery, and wine room. Why not just lift the liquor ban? It makes no sense. Come on Haddonfield! You're almost there! New generation , new energy! More salt! read more

We frequent South Jersey and Philly restaurants almost weekly, and I have not been this impressed by a new restaurant in South Jersey in some time. We had the pleasure of meeting Chef Ricky on Saturday morning for an early lunch, and it was an unforgettable experience. We started with the Bone Marrow, Pepperoni Pizza, Harvest Burrata, and Chicken Confit Agnolotti. The pizza was outstanding, as expected from a Verti Pizza alum. The butternut squash puree under the burrata was a delightful touch, though the burrata itself was a bit firm for my liking, it was still an amazing dish. The Chicken Confit Agnolotti was perfect in every way, with crispy chicken skins adding the perfect crunch to this decadent pasta dish. My favorite was the Bone Marrow, served roasted with some herbs - it was simple and delicious, truly perfect. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed. We sat at a table, but I am looking forward to returning during a busy dinner service and sitting at the counter. I love sitting at a chef's counter, eating dinner, and watching the kitchen work - it's like dinner and a show. Umile is a must-visit for anyone in the area.
