I didn't choose the place! It's one of several options in the food court. The proprietors are smooth operators. The menu is small. So, placing an order is a pretty simple task. They ask "white rice or fried rice?". They don't mention there's a surcharge for the fried rice - see receipt photo. They'll ask if you want the Egg roll? Again, they don't say there's a charge. It seems it's more à la cart. You're eating out off a plastic clam shell, with flimsy disposable plastic utensils wrapped in cellophane, you have to find someplace to sit down and eat it. The bill came to $42.56!!! I've spent less at a real restaurant and gotten better quality food and service. The chicken teriyaki looks like they threw the meat through a moving fan. All different sized pieces, some of them not even cut separately from each other. The shrimp in the bento box was cooked to the point, where it looked like a curlicue. I don't expect a Kaiseki repast, but even the simplest Japanese meal is plated with finesse. In a nutshell, it's someplace NOT even worth writing home. spend your money someplace else. read more

There are plenty of eateries in the Market Place, and this is one to avoid. The chicken teriyaki and vegetables are overcooked, and the rice is hard. The drinks don't taste very good either. It's overpriced compared to standard, mall teriyaki. Skip this place! read more

Umi Teriyaki - a meal in a styrofoam container - Japanese Near Me - Central Valley, New York

Overpriced and low quality "japanese" food. While there aren't really any good food court options I'd avoid this spot. We got the bento box: chicken was rubbery, sushi was more like rice with some stuffing, and unfresh fried veggies. We asked for sauce on the side which was ignored and the lady who took our order couldn't be bothered with anything. read more

Umi Teriyaki - Worst Bento Box I ever had. It has nothing to do with a bento box. Ugghhhh. - Japanese Near Me - Central Valley, New York

Umi Teriyaki is one of those places that provide speedy hibachi meals that are usually found in large shopping malls. Out here in the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, Umi Teriyaki is found inside the Market Place building. During lunch time on a busy day, you will have a rough time finding a seat, just a heads up. Back to Umi Teriyaki, I checked the reviews here on Yelp and there was nothing but hate. I've had my fair share of quick to-go hibachi/teriyaki in shopping malls and let me tell ya, this is the best one I've ever had so far. I had the Beef Teriyaki plate w/vegetables and fried rice. Meat was tasty, didn't need any extra sauce and there was plenty of it. Vegetables weren't mushy and overcooked. Fried rice was fried rice. Nothing was overpowering, everything balanced out nicely. Yes, I just said that in my review for a cheap food court Japanese restaurant. Oh, and despite being so damn busy the service was QUICK. We all know how it feels when the chefs start plopping containers and plates of food in front of everyone and all you're thinking is "ummm is this one mine?" Or "Should I grab it now?" Well for me, it was easy. My food was placed in front of me and I was told when it was done. Easy! No stress, no long wait, nothing! They did have sushi and bubble tea pre-made and that was where I'm guessing they screw up. I've heard of the tea being gross and the sushi being old but I can't say anything because I haven't had it yet so 4-Stars! Not bad! Oh and my meal was about $10 w/o a drink. Cheap but not dirt cheap. read more

The worse Udon I have had in my life, disgusting. The fact that I am taking the time to write this should be a warning since I have better things to do. But the food was so bad that I even got sick. Stay away far away. wish I had check YELP before!!! read more

I paid $17 for chicken teriyaki. Fried rice is another $1 and extra chicken is $4. Chicken was chewy and sauce was too salty. My friend got the combo 2 sides from the Chinese place right next door for $12. Not only were his portions bigger but the food was wayyyy better. Don't go here read more

Your cashier should show some respect! Food is alright. But your staff should learn manners! Bad bad store

I can't believe I'm the first to review this place. Best soup ever. I had the beef noodle. Great flavor, good size. They have sushi as well. Located in the market place of the Woodbury commons. read more

I normally read reviews before ordering from a new spot and I really wished I did before ordering from this place. I was just too hangry to even bother and I regretted it. Their line was the shortest and now I see why. I ordered 2 bento boxes one salmon & one chicken and a taro bubble tea. The bubble teas are not made to order, they're grab & go. The sauce on the California roll was overpowering and didn't taste good. I didn't even bother with the veggie tempura. Saving the best for last.. the bento boxes. DISGUSTINGLY BLAND (I ended up eating some because I was just that hungry) and to top it off there was an ant dancing in my food!! Never again!! read more

Worst sushi ever! No flavor at all and $19 later, was very unsatisfactory! Won't be back.

Chicken Bento Box - for $3 more than just chicken teriyucky (not a typo), you can add 2 pieces of fried veggie tempura, four 1/4 inch California rolls (thinnest I've ever been served) and 5 pieces of limp edamame. Go somewhere else. Woman next to me got salmon teriyaki from the same place and is complaining she may just take it back because their people don't know how to cook. There you go. 2 for 1 review. I wish I would have checked Yelp before I made my choice. Luckily you have been warned. Too bad I can't give it 0 stars. I had to spit out the edamame as it tasted like it had been sitting in dirty water. Step it up peeps! This mall is too nice to allow this lack of quality to continue. read more

Overpriced but that can be overlooked. Two Spanish guys working there were obviously don't know how to talk to customers. Talking to customers as if they are buddies on street is not good. Poorly trained or obviously hired the wrong characters. Chicken teriyaki was not fresh and had been burnt due to Thought about returning the food back to them as it was not edible read more

The worst bubble tea I've ever had. Was told it was "vanilla" and then told it was "tapioca slush". Like just pick one. The color was pretty but it was sitting out all day. The guy serving the counter not sure if he is Mexican or Asian had an extreme attitude. He cannot handle more than two customers. He completely ignore me!! I got the strawberry "boba" maybe barely 5 minutes ago and my friend took a sip of her drink and said it tasted like bread. It did indeed taste like bread, undercooked boba with no sugar at all. I had eaten sushi in malls before and enjoyed the experience but this was completely different. The sushi was not only expensive, it tasted horrible. The fish was not fresh, the rice for the nigiri was tough and chalky, and the California rolls were barely edible; they didn't taste, feel, or look like normal California rolls. Buy edible food elsewhere. P.s. I would have uploaded more pictures of my food (ex. the nigiri) but I ate them already read more

All staffs have attitude to all customers. This is so bad. I never have any bad experience to restaurant like this one before. They were not ready to work and not listening to what customers needed. Then they made mistakes and they angry when we corrected them. This place is terrible read more

Portion size was ridiculous. I would rather they have focused on delivering quality food in a smaller size. We got a chicken udon and a chicken teriyaki. The chicken was not hot, horrible texture, no flavor. The "vegetables" in the teriyaki turned out to be nearly exclusively onion and bean sprouts, as opposed to the pictured broccoli and carrots. There was one, lonely piece of broccoli, buried beneath a mountain of greasy onion. My wife claims this piece tasted relatively good, though I remain unsure. The ordering and pickup experience was terrible. They need a number system to keep people from touching food which isn't theirs. All-in, it was a step or two below typical mall Chinese food, delivered at twice the price. For $22, I would at least expect decent quality chicken without gross connective tissue. If I had the stones, I would have asked for a refund. Edit: The udon broth was passable. read more

I understand the low rating now. i ordered salmon bento box. the cook accidentally put someone else's salmon rice dish also in my tray. it looked like it was included. i asked "so i have 2 salmon dishes??" the guy nodded. i was about to take my tray, then the owner lady started screaming "oh no no no no" and said that the salmon bento belonged to someone else. i said i paid for the bento box, the other dish was the wrong one. the lady screamed again in an angry tone:"oh yea?? show me your receipt show me your receipt!" and yes , turns out she remembered wrong. but she treated me as if i was trying to steal from her. it was a very nasty feeling, which ended an otherwise great shopping day. the food was very bland and disappointing too. to eat here was the worst decision. will never go back. the lady needs to learn basic respect read more

No good, Spanish workers cook the food fast but not really paying attention while they're working. The rice is just like the leftovers from last night. First off, the place is ridiculously busy and unorganized.. I can see that you're busy but the people there don't need to act like it, unless it's your first day you know it's busy there.. Heading north, stopped off at Woodbury Commons and found the Marketplace which is like a food court in a mall. I don't know why I didn't check Yelp! first. This place is terrible. While I waited for my dinner, the female cashier was pouring water into the miso soup, Rice and noodles. And it tastes like it. Oh my goodness. The chicken teriyaki bento box was disgusting. The chicken was flavorless. The CA rolls were flatter than a pancake. I've never seen anything like it. The edamame was ice cold. The vegetable tempura was likely fried yesterday and it was cold. Even tho the lemonade was from the fountain, it too was flavorless. I'm telling you. I'm insisting. DO NOT EAT HERE!! read more

If I could give it no stars I would. Disgusting! The beef teriyaki was a steak um over Rice....it was gross!

I can't believe how bad this food taste! I am not a picky person but this food taste like paper.

We always come at Woodbury Common and order food at Umi Teriyaki at the market place. January 17th, I had the worst experience at this food place. Not because of the food, but because of a very rude server named ANTONIO. We ordered Udon and rolls, halfway with my Udon soup. I dropped my spoon so I had to ask for one. There's no customer in-front so I said "excuse me". He yelled: "What do you need!" I was stunned with the reaction but I still asked politely "I dropped my spoon. May I have a spoon please. " he handed me one in a rough manner. Then as I turned my back, he yelled: " Take care of that!" That's when I know he is being rude and disrespectful to customers over a spoon. I asked: "seriously? You are asking me to take care of the spoon?" He replied: Yes! Because we only give customer one spoon." I told the cashier about the inappropriate remarks and she apologized politely but he continued on. She asked him to stop but he goes on. When I ask for the manager, he said : "I don't care who you call! You can call anybody. I don't care! I was so disgusted and I reported him to the manager but he continued to instigate coming close to me many times even when asked to stay away. If there is a zero rating ,they would get it because of ANTONIO's rudeness. We ended up wasting the meal as he ruined our night and meal. By the way, my husband took me so he could get me something for my birthday. Instead, I was treated disrespectfully by this person. read more

TERRIBLE. Boba tea was watery and flavorless. The sushi tasted old and rubbery. Don't waste your money here.

Not the best customer service and the food was poor quality for the price... what a shame

Waited 10minutes. They forgot my order! They pretended to be busy. But there was nobody in front of me. What is the point of making me wait?

Terrible food and over-priced. Should have go to McDonald inside the same food court and have a more satisfying meal.
