During the virtual consultation, the UMFS representatives were friendly and informative. I was completely shocked at how nonchalantly that they not only addressed the woman's uterus (major overstep), but they put restrictions on it. I am still shocked by the audacity to tell a woman (verbally and via PowerPoint presentation) that she is not to conceive naturally or use IVF during the fostering process. I finished out the consultation to hear the reasoning behind the attempt to claim authority over a woman's uterine activity and they mentioned the mental stress behind the IVF process (which I pointed out that they also said "natural conception" and there was no explanation given for that). The mental stress reasoning does not line up either since they REPEATEDLY mentioned that they have a 24-hour support system to help manage stress. Also, how could you ever deem any woman fit to foster a child but not fit to manage HER uterus inside of HER body? I laughed at the audacity to boldly violate, but it really is not a funny matter. I think it was the shock and my mind trying to process the violation of a stranger putting restrictions on my uterus.
My uterus has a covenant with God. It will not make agreements with humans and how dare any human speak to my uterus without my permission...THE AUDACITY!!! Ok I'm back...like I said, it was funny to me and highly offensive at the same time.
I am writing this review without using names because I do not wish to shame. I am hoping that this is an opportunity to teach respect for a woman's choice and hopefully not continue to violate more women by addressing and placing restrictions on their uterus. It's hard to believe that UMFS was unaware of how highly offensive this is, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they were completely unaware. I made them aware at the end of the virtual consultation and again in this review. If this violation continues, lack of awareness is not the reason. I am completely open to sharing a loving life with a child (of any age, sibling groups, with medical needs, etc), and although I could appreciate the concern, I am fully capable of managing my own uterus. read more
