I had previously had dip nails prior to coming to Umi. I asked for a gel fill with thin natural pink and white gel nails. The first lady was adamant that I need something thicker than gel even though I told her I would like to grow them out and have them look much more natural and to please have them thin. So after she began working, they had to switch me over to someone else who proceeded to do dip nails. Then the new lady kept stopping for one thing or another. I was okay waiting for her to do someone's eyebrows. Shortly after she couldn't find a brush and took forever in the back. Then after continuing to do my nails, she decided that it was time to update some of their books (tracking who was doing what service). I'm very patient and really did not mind waiting even though it was getting slightly annoying. Once I could tell they were almost done, I noticed that the nails looked very, very thick after she was doing the final step...which was exactly what I was trying to avoid and so I asked politely if she could please file them down a bit more to make them thinner, and she said she couldn't file them down too much for some reason I couldn't understand. So I said I just want them to look more natural. So then she proceeds to be very aggressive for the rest of my time there, even when brushing off the dust. That was extremely unprofessional and rude! My nails turned out quite thick even after asking to thin them out. I'm generally easy to please, and don't ever complain or leave bad reviews, but I felt I had to after all that. To top it all off I was overcharged! I asked if she could add $10 to the $60 total so I could pay a tip. So she did put a $10 charge on there plus an additional $10 charge for acrylic removal even though I did not have acrylic begin with. When I asked if she added the $10 tip on there she said that they don't do tips on the machine and that I needed to pay cash for the tip. So I'm baffled as to what the extra $10 x 2 was for. I didn't want to make a scene and so I did end up paying another tip, but I probably shouldn't have at that point. I went in wanting thin natural gel colored nails which probably wouldn't have cost no more than $50 bucks and wound up paying over $100 after all was said and done. This was my first time at this salon and it will surely be my last. Smh. read more

This salon is close to my daughter's house, and we have been going since it opened. This salon is very clean with beautiful decor. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of work has always been great any time we have gone. There's a manager that is there most of the time and everything seems to be running very smoothly each time. We get Manicures and Pedicures. Disposable pedicure bowl covers are used to prevent cross contamination. This is our 'Go To' salon. We have had many nail techs, but we both think Justin does an amazing job. read more

One of the worst pedicures I have ever received. I asked her to not clip or file my toes nails too short I like them on the longer side. She proceeded to file my big toe down right after I asked her not to. I asked her why she did that after I specifically asked her not to. I got the $45 pedicure that included hot stones and scrub which she did both things less then a min and did not remove any callus and that was supposed to be another service that was included. Was like she knew I was unhappy right away and didn't see any need to try to make sure I was happy with the service. $50 later and a waste of my money. read more

Extremely clean and modern salon, with high quality massage chairs, and vibey music playing. We called for 2 immediate appointments on a Saturday afternoon and got right in. Nina did my gel pedicure and did a very nice job. My daughter had Brian do her pedicure and he did a really fabulous massage for her... I could even tell hot good it was by watching! Please keep in mind, this review is based on MY experience. I came here on a Friday evening at 530p. They're hours are Monday-Friday 9a-630p, Saturday 9a-6p, and Sunday 10a-4p. It was not busy at all, but keep in mind they're new. It's only been a week since they opened. I was quickly greeted and asked to sign in on the tablet. She said it only needed my name and DOB. You accrue stamps and after the 10th stamp, you get a gift. The gist wasn't specified. I got a gel polish change. The na techs wear aprons with name tags which I kinda liked. Makes it more personable in my opinion. Lee did my polish change. She was attentive and very neat. She was gentle and very sweet. The walls are still bare of art, but they have four tvs on the walls and mellow music playing in the background. The tile is all white which makes the space larger. Anxious to see what more they do. My nails were cute. A few bubbles in the polish but it wasn't enough for me to get them redone or go back and ask them to fix it. Overall I give them a 4. Came here for the first time today w the wife. First good impressions, VERY clean, which the wife likes. Second good impression was from the host, Tong. He was very helpful, accommodating and his commo it's up with us and the other customers was outstanding! He told us how long it would be before our manicurist was available and kept us updated throughout. He did this with ALL the customers in the salon. I had Tran as my manicurist and she was fast and thorough. Wife had a gel manicure and she said they used the high quality gel (OPI) which she loves! I've been going to this place since it opened and I usually get great service and my nails always look good. Went yesterday for a pedicure, it was great, like usual, but when I went to pay, it didn't give me the option to leave a tip. Then she pointed to the new sign that said "Only tips in cash". They used to have a sign saying that tips were appreciated in cash and now it's mandatory. The register doesn't even allow you to tip through it anymore. I was pretty annoyed as I rarely, if ever have cash on me. I made a comment about it and the person who did my toes was nice and said "next time", but I absolutely hate that you have to give a cash tip. I get it! You pay a percentage to the credit card service company for each transaction and then you have to pay taxes on tips if they are recorded through the system, but to not even allow it anymore is a nuisance. I most likely won't return because of it, which is unfortunate. The place is always clean and I always get good service, but when they start demanding tips in cash, that's when I'm out. read more

Like several nail salons lately, they don't give you what you want. It seems like some of these techs need to update their products, styles & the way they do nails. Stay up on trends and the new nail shapes. I showed a picture and made sure to tell my tech I wanted THAT nail length and shape. Gave me a completely different shape and length. I refuse to leave not wanting what I asked for as I'm obviously paying for a service and showed a picture of what I wanted exactly... so I had to tell him that I wasn't satisfied before he continued on. He took them off and had to redo them to add the length and redo the shape. End result--did I get what I wanted? Not really. Extremely disappointed and expensive. He charged me $15 extra to correct HIS mistake. $20 for "nail design", total cost was $100 for a set that was not $100 worth. read more

Pedicure guy dug too deep into my cuticle around my toenail and it's been infected for over 2 months . I have never had an infection with my toes with my last nail salon in cali , for over 20 years. One visit and now I am still dealing with redness and Epsom salt foot soaks three times a day with oral antibiotics and topical high strength antibiotic cream. I got a gel manicure ($38) and a pedicure that was one up from the basic, I forget what it was called, but with regular nail polish ($45). It was my first time trying this spot. I called and made an appointment ahead of time. Once I arrived, they greeted me and had me in the chair almost immediately which I appreciate. Lee took care of my mani and pedi. She was very sweet and overall I think she did a good job. I was in the salon for an hour and a half. Didn't feel rushed in and out or like they were moving super slow/wasting time. I do wish they took more time with the massages and the pedicure I got said there was hot stones but I didn't get those. Not the end of the world just a note. The salon I usually go to has not been putting the AC on and will leave the door open at times and in this AZ heat I feel like I'm going to pass out and it's not an enjoyable spa experience. This wasn't the case here. I felt it was cool enough inside that I wasn't uncomfortable. I'm also 7.5 months pregnant so strong smells are a lot for me and most salons have super strong chemical smells -- I felt like they had the salon well ventilated here which is a plus. The prices are a little steep here compared to most salons I've been too and my pedicure is good but I'm a little hesitant on if my gel manicure will hold up. It's not perfect but not bad either. If it does last, I will update my review from 4 to 5 stars because in that case, the prices will be worth it to me. There's not many salons around here so I'm really rooting for this place to thrive and for it to be my new nail spot. It was definitely an above average salon experience for me and for that reason alone, I think it's worth a shot to try for sure! read more

The first time I visited Ume Nails & Spa, it caught my attention because it was small yet charming. However, upon arriving, the owner did not greet me properly. She simply asked what I wanted done. I replied that I only needed a dip, not a pedicure, since I had recently had a gel pedicure. I waited about ten minutes for a technician to return from her break. When she finally called me to her station, she didn't communicate much, only responding briefly if I asked a question. I remained polite and waited quietly until my nails were finished, listening to the staff gossip about the owner, who had left early for an event. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the technician. When it was time to pay, I realized they didn't accept tips on credit cards, and I didn't have much cash on me. Two weeks later, I returned to get my nails done again. This time, my experience was completely different. Living just around the corner, I arrived and asked for the same technician. She was there, checking someone out, and another tech asked her to do my nails since I had requested her. She looked up, saw me, and then, in Vietnamese, said she'd rather eat than do my nails, among other unkind remarks. She didn't realize I also speak Vietnamese, and they were shocked and embarrassed when they found out. I left immediately. I don't need someone talking behind my back, especially when they don't even know me. This wasn't the first time I've experienced the technicians at this nail salon gossiping about clients. It's outrageous to pay for a service only to be talked about negatively. They need to stop gossiping and focus on their jobs! I will never return to this nail salon again!!!! read more

This store is located next door to UPS at jackrabbit trail. Originally I thought it is in Buckeye but physical address shows Litchfield. Yesterday my husband dropped a package at UPS next door I went in this nail spa to take a look and decided to have a basic manicure there. A young (looks young but vietnamese asian people always look young) guy worked on me. In the middle of manicure work he kept asking me whether I and my husband wanted to have a pedicure. I responded by saying I will decide after he finish the manicure. After he filed my nails and told me to go to sink to wash the hands at that moment he wanted me to go front desk to make a payment as though he was afraid I don't pay him if he does a bad job. From then on he was upset and never had any eye contact with me until I left seriously. The salon looks clean but not really - I saw ants crawling around on the towel they wanted me to put my arms on. Most weird thing was that the nail polish he used was totally dried out and I watched him to pull the acetone thinner in to make it liquidified again. I will never go back again and I don't recommend this salon at all. Go to other salons instead. read more

Long wait. Even with appointments. Colors in their nail selection are not the same on what they apply. Happened to a woman next to me and to me. I've never had that happen. They say they can do your nails and then they put you in pedicure water for 20 minutes while you wait. Even the nail tech said the water was cold. Harder to leave with your feet in the pedicure bowl. Would not recommend this new nail place. Fill and pedicure over $100. Btw WiFi code is actually dominoes pizza's code. Another woman left after 55 min wait and said it was ridiculous that no one helped her or told her it would be a long wait and said that's how you get treated there as a minority. I was dropping something off at the UPS store next door and decided to go in to ume Nails as I wasn't aware of it. Very nice and bright inside. I asked for gel on gel fill. Adam was nice but started prepping for acrylic with gel and pulling off my real nail. My nails look ok, but he had problems filing the sides of my nails which I fixed when I returned home. Price is $10 over everyone else for the same service. A $55 charge should gain greater quality. Owner should consider her competition. There weren't many customers in the shop. read more
