First time customer at this place. Little back story - I travel ALOT for work and have to find a new nail salon every 3 months and it's a pain. I live about 2 hours north of Phoenix and was in town for a class this weekend, we got out early so I decided to stop in and get my nails done since I was close to where the class was. Initially leery of the poor reviews, I noticed most of them had to do with miscommunication about prices. I found the communication was actually good, before I had to ask, and before he started - Johnny, told me exactly how much my nails and the design I wanted was going to cost and made sure it was ok. So that was cool. About the actual service - so this probably has to be one of the top 3 best manicures I have had. I was initially just going to get gel - but after some education and explanation, I went with powder. I was a little leery at first because I have seen some powder dips that looked thick and terrible! But Johnny took the time to apply the powder with a brush and I feel like it made all the difference. The design was exactly what I wanted and my nails were all even and not extra thick. His wife did my pedicure and again, one of the best pedis I have had. Typically I always get at least one cut from a mani/pedi and this time - zero, it was the first time I have felt like I could really relax when having my feet worked on. I can't speak to how long the powder lasts - but what I do know is - I will be making the 2 hour drive from northern AZ when it's time - so I can have my nails done at Diva. Just a side note - and my .02 about the prices... Something I have found pretty consistent at every nail salon I have ever been to is miscommunication about prices - especially when there is a language barrier. Solution - tell them what you want and ask up front how much it's going to cost. Shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that designs and removal or previous polish sometimes cost extra. PLEASE READ FIRST: FIRST AND LAST TIME HERE!! I made an appointment for 9am this morning and they were 15 minutes late. Johnny who was my person arrived and went in the back without checking the books or acknowledging the other clients waiting nor myself. They made sure to let us know that they overslept and that's why they were late. There were a million gnats and flies in this nail salon and I was hitting at them the entire time. You could tell that they hadn't cleaned up the night prior and I should have left at that point but wanted to give them another try. I was greeted maybe 5 minutes later. He started my nails and began his pitch on why I should get dipped powder over gel nails. He eventually was able to convince me to get it. He got up quite a few times while doing my nails. and he was really nice the whole time and I began telling him that I just moved here and that I was told this was a great place. I also told him that I was there 4 days prior for a pedi and that my feet still felt really ruff after getting the $40 pedi and that my polish was already chipping on my toes He stated that because I didn't get gel polish he can't back it. I thought that's weird I always get regular on my feet. I decided to change the chipped polish anyway. The lady that did my nails used watered down polish that as it dried it clumped together. She tried to fix it forever and I finally I gave up and checked out. The lady at the counter that checked me out actually remembered me from 4 days prior and stated that and they still charged me for my toes again. As I walked out I noticed in the sun how horrible the polish looked and went back I get it fixed. I was told that I'm giving the nail lady a hard time and I needed to just accept her work. WOW! Lastly, as I was getting my nails fixed with a different color Johnny came over and asked if I liked my nails and I said very much so and he proceeded to tell me about his policy that you have to leave at least a $5 tip. I informed him I left a $15 dollar tip the other day for the horrible pedicure I got and he began talking over me and stating that it's his policy that I just leave at least $5 tip. I told him I didn't know that was the policy and that I won't come again and he continued explaining the policy about the minimum $5 tip. He then stated that he gave me a HUGE discount on my nails and that I should honor his policy. Talk about amazing customer service!! I was REALLY impressed by my nails I must say they were AMAZING but the way that I was treated was so UNACCEPTABLE. Very sad that I have to continue my search. read more

BEWARE OF OVERCHARGING and RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I literally just walked out of this shop and am very UPSET. The 1st time I came here I had taken the time to google reviews on shops in the area because I just moved here from Cali. So, I decided on Diva Nails cause the pics and reviews looked good! So, I got brand new ombré set put on and it was $70. By the time I came for the fill on my 2nd visit, 4 of my nails had come off. Only one was broken, the other just came off my nail completely and the last two came off while Johnny was filing them to prepare for fill. This was from a poor job that Johnny did. He said that happens because I haven't had acrylic nails on in so long. Really?? I've never had that happen. So then, when he went to do the fill he said it wouldn't match if he replaced four nails so he convinced me to do another new set for $60 (he discounted this time, go figure). All the while he told me for like 20 mins why he was charging me this and that. He also even made a comment that he has to explain it because one time he had a clients husband show up at the shop because of an angry customer that got mad at him. WHAT??? (Now I know why...keep reading) THEN, on my 3rd and final visit today to get an ombré fill, the second I sat down in the chair he already told me it's an extra $5 (total $45) for fill because I had long nails. UMMM really? It's a fill, from the long set HE did for me a couple of weeks ago! He told me "I do good work" and TWICE in my last two visits said that if "I'm not happy I can go somewhere else." He also got very rude with me and would not let me speak because he was trying to justify why he was overcharging me. One thing I noticed is that on this visit today I was the only client in the shop. When I walked in I was not greeted at all. In fact it was almost a cold unwelcoming entrance. It felt as though he was talking to me this way and upcharging me because he thinks he can. This is not right. I was so shook up I decided to walk out before I even let him start on my fill. I came straight home to write this review. I have been getting my nails done for yearrrrrs and have never ever ever had my nail guy/gal speak to me like Johnny did. This was by far the worst experience I've had at a nail salon. So, my cousin had a gift card with a balance of $36 to the nail salon so we had decided to go there with her, also knowing that there is 20% off for ALL new customers. We also called ahead of time to make sure that this deal was still continuing. John had answered and said yes that we would receive the 20% off. We go in the next day and they seat two of us but my cousin waits about 30 min. I ask for the basic $20 pedicure and it was pretty amateur, he scrubbed my feet for about 30 seconds and the "hot" towel was cold. They did an okay job on the polish for all three of us. We get up to pay and my cousin goes to pay with her gift card.. her total was $30 so her gift card should cover all of it right? And she should still have $6 left. NO, there they go speaking in their language and the man that was ringing us up let's her know all she can use from the gift card is $20 and she has to pay the rest. That makes absolutely no sense. He says you can only pay in increments of 5. Hello if that was even the case $35???? So she ended up paying 10 out of her own pocket and they didn't even give her the gift card back. He gives her a new card with I don't even know what amount is on it. Next I am up to pay, I ask for the 20% off, and nope I get it back on a VIP card.. what the hell am I going to do with $4 if you only take increments of 5?? I said no I don't want anything I'm paying $20 and no tip. They told me next time you come back you can use it and I reply that I am NOT going back. That's when the manager (I believe) got up and started tying to explain his scams to us. We don't care to hear it and by reading many others reviews of this place, I can now tell this place is not worth it. I hope this review can help you save your time and money drive an extra 5 miles to a nail salon that isn't so scandalous. This place is horrible.. WAITED TWO HOURS TO LEAVE LOOKING WORSE THAN WHEN I GOT THERE. Do not go here for pedicures. The only person that does a good job is Susan. Anyone else will not do a thorough job of cleaning under the nail or around. Went there SPECIFICALLY to see Susan but was made to go with someone else. This was my first time with this older lady and I had to stop and ask for specific areas to be cleaned multiple times. I had a crack in my big toe nail and In order to make it straight she had to make it shorter but I made it clear I didn't want the others ones short yet here I am with toe nails so short I bled on two of them and two of them are already near bleeding as well. You'd think that nails being straight after a pedicure would be a given but 5 out of my 10 ARE SLANTED. read more

I have experienced a mix of "stars" when visiting this nail salon. The first time I went, it was about 30 minutes before close and the employees stayed late to give my husband and I pedicures and to also do a gel powder manicure on me. They were so friendly and kind and did awesome work! I was really happy. The next time I was going to go in, I made an appointment the day before. I arrived at the salon about 10 minutes before my appointment time and there were a lot of people waiting. I ended up waiting for a little over and hour before I was taken back to have my gel powder manicure filled in and updated. I was super annoyed about the wait, I mean, why make an appointment right? But the quality of the work was great and it was nice that the employees recognized me and asked about my husband. The last time I was there, my daughter and I got pedicures She got to use the Hello Kitty chair which was a huge perk for our mommy-daughter day. While the employees were so nice and patient with her as well as gave her some candy, the Hello Kitty chair was quite dirty. In fact, the whole salon looks rather dirty and dingy which is a bummer. I have been a customer for the past year and a half. When they switched to appointments only they told me to make sure to make an appointment so that I wouldn't have to wait. Well, I did just that and the first time I waited 2 hours before I decided to leave. I scheduled another appointment for another day and same thing so I left very upset and frustrated. I didn't return for few months and decided I would try again. I had a conversation with Johnny and let him know to tell me if he can't attend me at the appointment time I reserved. I let him know I was upset and that I didn't appreciate it when he lied about availability. Unfortunately, it happened again today. Waited two hours. Two ladies walked in and they got serviced. He was working on two other ladies. I made my appointment for 130 last week and walked out at 330 PM. Johnny has great skills but their business model isn't to par. Sadly, I won't return. I have always been happy with this place. Today I was pleased with the male worker. The owner that sits in front chair I believe he is called John. He was doing my daughters nails. He asked her if she had a google acct. she stated yes. He told her to go on and do a review on google fight then. She opened the page and set phone down with screen open not sure of what to do next. He reached over and pushed 5 stars on review. She said she felt bullied. If I would have known before I left he would have got a couple words. Be careful doing it to other kids. I want them to look real/ natural and I need them to last for at least 3 weeks. Rarely, have I had my nails break and i always get compliments on them. I have seen many fancy nail designs on people with beautiful multicolored tips. And toes too. They offer a great discount for first time customers. Continuing customers get a discount through a reward card. If you spend so much in a visit you get a % put back on the card that you can use at your next appointment. Follow-up: I returned to the nail salon and asked for a refund once more. The owner stated that he could refund me the $18 charge for the gel polish used on my toenails, but in order to do that, I would have to allow them to remove my gel polish and repaint my toenails with regular nail polish. The owner acknowledged that this solution would be expensive for him, but stated that he could not refund me for the service I received unless they undid the service. I didn't have any other obligations so I went ahead and had them remove the gel polish and replace it with regular. The owner refunded me for the gel polish and credited my card for the amount that was put in my customer loyalty card. I originally rated the business 1 star, based on my previous review. I commend the business owner for offering a solution to the situation and refunding what he did. Also, they did a good job on the fingernails and toenails. I do feel that the service charges should be more cut and dry, or at the very least, explained clearly to the customers. Ehhh...I got sucked in by the 20% off for new customers gimmick, and left feeling ripped off. Lesson learned! I will not return or recommend them. I was quoted $30 for a fill and $20 for a basic pedicure. I planned on spending $50 total after the discount and adding a 20% tip. I chose my colors for both fingernails and toenails. Nobody ever mentioned an extra charge for gel polish. The nail fill was basic. I did get cut by the drill under two nails and they bled. The pedicure was okay, but the water could have been a lot warmer. I have had much more relaxing pedicures for the same cost. Once finished, I was charged $76. $36 more than I had planned to spend (not counting the tip). Yikes! So, according to their math, I would be charged $91 for a basic pedi and fill if I had been a return customer. When I inquired about the overcharge, I was given an extensive, complicated brochure with details on all of the service charges including "additional services" that are tacked onto the normal services. For example, there is an $18 charge for gel polish on toenails, a $5 charge for french tip, and a $13 charge for gel polish on acrylic nails! There's the $36 extra charge. Again, nobody told me about these extra charges. I don't appreciate the smoke in mirrors way of conducting business, and I will warn as many people as possible not to fall for the trick I fell for. read more

Let me start by saying that today's experience was amazing! I went to get my prom nails done and they look great. Service was great and everyone had a friendly attitude. The lady who did my pedicure was very detailed and really took her time! She made sure to perfect every little corner. The man who did my nails was also very detailed. So sad - this salon has newer comfortable chairs but due to communication errors I will not return. Got a full set of gel nails and a great pedicure and paid $55. Ok. That's fine. Then went back 2 1/2 weeks later and asked for a fill and a polish change on my toes for another $43 ?? My frustration with nail salons (and I expressed this at the time) is that you have to go get fills, back fills regularly but each time it's a different price. Oh well. Beware: This salon pulls scams. I got a coupon in the mail for 20% off at Diva Nails for any service for new customers. I decided to check out their web site. On the site, there is a price list for pedicures, but no description of what each one entails. The web site is very low-tech and uninformative, and in one business-description part, the site actually mentions the salon by the wrong name! (I assume they plagiarized the narrative from another company and forgot to edit the name when they copied/pasted it). All of that caused me concern. I decided before I went there that I'd get the $20 pedicure regardless of what it would/would not include, and I knew I'd make that clear. I was psyched because with my 20% off discount coupon, I'd get a pedi for $16. I planned to tip the pedicurist $3 based on the original $20 price. I thought I'd be getting a $19 pedicure... I entered the salon and a man in front - presumably the owner - asked me what I'd like done. I said I'd like a pedicure. His English was hard to understand, but he said I could get 20% off since I was a new customer. He didn't know I had a coupon; there was also a sign on the front of the building indicating that new customers get 20% off any service. The man told me to go back to a pedi chair so I could get "the works". I didn't know what that meant, but it made me uncomfortable because I had said I wanted just a pedicure. Meanwhile, there are NO prices listed anywhere in the store! I asked one of the women working if I could see a price list. She went into a drawer and found a laminated menu-style price list. Why do they keep the price list in a drawer away from customers' view? I saw that the $20 pedicure was a basic one that included leg massage, nail trim, file, and polish. The man started shouting something to the female pedicurists in an Asian language I didn't understand. I told my pedicurist I wanted just the basic $20 pedi. I pointed to it on the price list and handed it to her. She nodded. The man up front continued yelling back to her in another language. She kept looking at the price list, putting it down, and picking it up and studying it again. I got suspicious, so again I said, "I want just the $20 pedicure, please". She seemed annoyed and said, "Yes, I know! But the more services you buy, the more the 20% off will be." I said, "I want just the basic $20 pedi, please". (This was now the 4th time I'd repeated that). She looked back down at the price list for the 3rd-4th time. The pedicure itself was just okay. They use plastic liners in the foot bath, which is a sanitary practice I like. The massage chairs offered a decent shiatsu. There were no magazines to read. This is the only salon I've ever been in that had nothing to read. The leg massage was very brief and the nail polish job itself was not well done. It was a little clumpy in some spots and a bit sparse in others. It wasn't very professional. When the pedicure was done, I went up front to pay. The man started to cash me out. I showed him the coupon. He said I didn't need it. Then he took out a plastic "loyalty card" and told me I'd get my 20% off on that card. He asked me to fill out a paper with my contact info. I said I didn't want to join a loyalty program and I wasn't comfortable providing personal info. I said the coupon didn't say anything about that. He replied that I didn't have to give my contact info, but he'd give me the loyalty card with the 20% off. He said he'd load the $4 (20% of $20) on the loyalty card so I could get $4 off my NEXT visit there. Again I said, "that's not what the coupon says". He replied, "Yes. That's the special. Watch". Then he loaded the loyalty card and gave it to me with a receipt that showed $4 loaded onto the card. He repeated that I'd get $4 off my NEXT visit. I said that wasn't the deal I was expecting. He pretended he didn't understand me, pointed to the sign in the salon that said "20% off for new customers", and mumbled something that was inaudible. Then he said, "That will be $20 for today". So much for my $16 pedicure plus $3 tip. I didn't want to keep arguing with him; I wanted to just leave and never go back. I just paid the $20 plus $3 tip and I left. My "$19 pedicure" was $23. I know it's still a good price, but it's a matter of principle. There's a clear lack of business ethics in regards to sneaky and/or false advertising. During the time I was paying, two customers were up front next to the register and waiting to be seen. They listened to my exchange with the owner about the 20% off. Once they heard the discussion, they immediately got up and walked out the door. The owner saw them exiting and he went after them saying, "Don't leave! We can see you RIGHT NOW!" I guess he didn't realize they were leaving because of his loyalty card scam, not because they had been waiting. I will never step foot in that unscrupulous business again. read more

I was overhearing what they were charging other customers as I was tuning in. They add $5.00 for everything they use to pedicure your feet. My service attendant did not have her tools together; she had nothing plugged in when given a place to do my nails. She answered her cell phone while doing my nails. This is absolutely, atrocious customer service! LOOK! You're working to provide great service, or you're handling your social life at work, while you're paying customer is waiting!!!! And above all, the owner walked away to wax a woman, while leaving a customer for at least 30 minutes, because the business was money hungry and didn't want to lose the walk-in customer. Okay, I'm done ranting about this business. So, be aware always ask for a price list prior to asking for service from these folks who don't know how to run a business.
